Q: Can it be used for hot liquids. Such as tea or coffee,
A: I use mine with warm but not scalding hot liquids. Do not use the straw that comes with the cup with non-cold items as it will potentially melt (I replaced mine with silicone straws anyway after injuring the roof of my mouth with the hard plastic one that comes with it). The lid seems fine with moderately hot contact. Do note that the silicone band around the lid seems that it has a right side up (not marked) and putting it on upside down after washing has resulted in the lid not sealing, important if you are going to drink without using a straw.
submitted byDragonMama - 8 months agoA: Hi there, happy to provide more insight. While most consumers choose our products because of the patented lid design that is beverage temperature specific, they can be used interchangeably. We recommend Cold1 mugs as "Cold Only" as the lids were not designed to maintain a "leak-proof" seal with hot liquids and steam. If filled with hot liquids and tipped over, liquid can leak from multiple areas and be dangerous. Hot liquids will not destroy or hurt the product if used, but we still recommend this product as cold only. For hot liquids, we recommend our hot1 mugs. Please get in touch with us at info@reduceeveryday.com if you have any other questions!

Q: Can you use for carbonated beverages?
A: Not recommended but I do it. I only use mine with a straw, do not seal the lid completely closed by closing the straw flip lid if you are using it with carbonated beverages and you should be fine. My kids don't like using straws so I won't let them put carbonated in theirs unless they keep it unsealed to keep the carbonation from popping the whole lid off.
submitted byDragonMama - 8 months agoA: Hi there, we have not tested the Cold1 cups with carbonated beverages. The buildup of carbonation could spray on you if the sup is shaken while closed. Also, you cannot seal carbonation with a straw. It will always bubble up and out of the vessel. We hope this helps! Let us know if we can answer anything else for you.

Q: Screw on or press on lid?
A: Press on, and make sure the silicone ring inside the lid is on the right way after removing to wash or the lid won't close right. I have dropped mine many times (very klutzy) and the lid seals enough to keep things from getting too bad but isn't as secure as a screw-top. When I drop it most of the liquid spilled comes from the straw from the look of things.
submitted byDragonMama - 8 months agoA: The 3-in-1 lid for the 40 oz is a press on lid.

Q: Is this tumbler leak proof? If I toss it in my tote bag, will it leak water?
A: Use the handle to hang it off the side of your bag instead of tossing it in the bag. It isn't leakproof but it is very good seal that I haven't had leak at pretty extreme diagonals (only leaks have happened when it is very full and tips sideways enough to leak out the side of the straw).
submitted byDragonMama - 8 months agoA: Our Cold1 drinkware are not leak proof. The straw hole on the tumblers are designed to vent. For this reason, if they are knocked over or placed inside a bag or somewhere that moves, the contents can slowly come out. So sorry for that!

Q: does the paint chip on the cup over time?
A: It is prone to getting scratched up (particularly if you are klutzy like me - my klutziness is why I need drinkware like this!). I hang mine off the side of my wheelchair and the handle side gets a bit scuffed. I just cover it with a new decorative sticker if the scuff bothers me. Do note that some people are reporting paint issues from dishwashing, I only hand wash mine and even the old versions (not padded bottoms & no ounce marks) look new other than where I have dropped them.

Q: Does it really keep liquid such as water cold for 40 hours? What temperature are you referring to because it's hot here in Florida.
A: I live in FL. If you have more ice inside they will keep better than some brand. I have more brand and Reduce is better with me.
submitted byRainy - 10 months agoA: It does! If ever your tumbler doesn't, feel free to get in touch with us at info@reduceeveryday.com so we can look into this ASAP.

Q: Is there lead in this product?
A: We understand your concerns and want to ensure our customers have all the correct information. First, all Reduce products are absolutely safe and pass independent testing. We use an industry-standard in our manufacturing process. To seal the insulation at the base of our products we use a small pellet containing trace amounts of lead, which is then covered with another layer of paint and a rubber base, making it inaccessible to our customers. During normal use, no lead ever comes into contact with you or your beverage. One of Reduce's core values is to always do the right thing for our customers, and this is why we've always offered a Lifetime Guarantee. If the base of one of our products is ever damaged during normal usage, we will replace it as part of this guarantee, which you can read here: https://reduceeveryday.com/pages/lifetime-guarantee.

Q: how much does this cup weight? I am looking for a lightweight cup. Thank you.
A: The Cold1 40oz weights around 1.4 lbs when empty.
submitted byBase Brands Product Expert - 2 years agoBrand expertA: If weight is an issue, go for the 24oz instead of 40oz. An ounce of liquid weighs an ounce so the 40oz version adds 2.5lbs of weight to the shipping weight when filled. That being said, I have limited upper body strength and grip issues but the 40oz works great for me - I slide my hand in between the handle & mug instead of gripping by the handle. The shape of the handle also works wonderfully for hanging it off mobility equipment such as manual wheelchairs, rollators, and foam grip canes.
