Q: How can I tell if water is safe to drink

submitted by Mary - 8 months ago
  • A: On the test kit the parameters show the numbers as red or green. Red is outside of the EPA limit while green is within the limit. While you'll get exact numbers it's also color coded for easy use.

Q: What are directions for text kit?

submitted by Birdie - 8 months ago
  • A: This test kit uses a DIY test strip, you'll simply dip it into your water for 2 seconds then let it devlop for 30 seconds. Then you'll match your results to the color guide.

Not a good test for testing water in NYC. The items it tests for aren’t really informative. Would’ve been better if it included lead, mercury, cadmium, and other metals.

I bought this in a hurry. There isn’t really anything I’d like to test for included in this. It was not worth the money. The 12 things they test for: Water hardness- it is well- known that the water is hard here, I can see the calcium and lime deposits on my faucets in my apartment. I don’t care if the apartment wants to ruin their own plumbing offering us only hard water. Fluoride - I know Phoenix water is fluoridated and I expect this because in AZ we have no universal dental care for kids. Calcium- just a redundancy to water hardness pH and alkalinity are the same parameter. It doesn’t include an indicator for lead, which is what would be helpful to know. As someone said, stating that this has “120 total tests” is misleading. Save your money.

I thought I was a savvy shopper, but I guess I still have a lot to learn. Box reads 120 tests total! I worked in a lab and I know how cheap it is to make these strips so I thought that sounded fair. Wah wah. It’s only 10 test strips in the box. Each strip test for 12 things. Hence 120. Very misleading IMO and not worth the price.
