Safety 1st Onboard Insta-LATCH DLX Infant Car Seat

My son is 12 weeks old and the chest clip has stopped working. The straps just randomly come apart and it won’t stay latched. I reported this to Target and they do not seem concerned. They also will not refund or exchange since I am barely past the 90 days. Please don’t buy this seat I’m so glad I noticed before we were driving.

This car seat is great for a good price! I received it from the Stellar Product Review Panel and have been loving using it as our car seat for our second car. It is so lightweight and easy to get in and out of the base, so I can carry our 8 month old in it relatively easily. The cushioning on the seat is nice and the removable head and body pillows are great for littler babies. The harness and buckle are both easy to adjust for different sized babies and the instructions are clear on how it should fit- we got it right for our little one easily! The harness and straps fit well and were easy to tighten enough to pass the pinch test. My only difficulty was when installing the base it was hard to get it level (especially in one of our cars) and we needed to do some research to get the front to not lift up too much. The level line is also just a black line that you have to eyeball with the ground so we used and actual level from our garage to figure it out. Overall we really like the seat!

This is a great car seat! The base was so easy to install -- it took me less than 90 seconds from the time I opened the door to having it fully secured. The red to green indicator made me feel confident I had done it correctly. Even more than that, I appreciated how simple and clear the installation instructions are. Some seats make it seem so complicated and these were a breeze. The seat itself is lightweight and the materials are nice. Baby didn't fuss at all while I buckled her in and seemed comfortable. My only minor complaint is that the canopy is a little loud and stiff to open, but I'm sure that will improve with time. I received this infant car seat from the Stellar Product Testing Panel. This car seat is the bomb. As we have become new parents we have been told about every brand there is but I am here to tell you Safety First with the onBoard Insta-LATCH DLX Infant Car Seat is the best bang for your buck. Such quality at a great price. The knit stitching on the head rest for the infant gives it such a luxury look. It was super easy to install. It took less than 10 minutes including opening the boxes. Once the base is in the car seat itself easily snaps in and is very solid. Then when ready to go it simply unsnaps and you're off. Our child's safety as new parents is the number one priority when driving. We are loving this seat and feel confident in its ability to keep our little one safe. The infant straps are easy on their face and chest and the material seems very durable. Super happy to have this in my SUV and look forward to getting our new addition out and about.

I was given this infant car seat to try as part of the Stellar Product Testing Panel. Overall, I think this is a decent infant car seat and a good option if you are looking for an inexpensive infant seat. It has nice basic features I would expect to find on an infant car seat (I.e., adjustable harness for when baby grows), but nothing that makes it better than others I have used. My favorite feature is that it is 7.5 pounds, making it easier to bring baby to and from the car while in the car seat. My son is 4 months old and appears comfortable when secured in the seat. have been using it with the head pillow for extra comfort. The fabric cover is easy to take off and machine washable, which is essential with an infant. My baby's diaper leaked onto the cover and it washed out without any issues. The base was easy to install in my car; however, it took some practice putting the seat in and out of the base. I often found it did not click in or come out as seamlessly as other seats I have used. The canopy is large but I found it flimsy and difficult to raise and lower.

First off the seat is very well made and the insta latch technology makes it a 5 star product . For FTM it has proven to be so useful . It so easy to instal and the insta latch is so seamless to put and take out the car seat from the car . The fabric and the material used is really good and overall it is very well designed. The best part is that it is lightweight and can go for all kinds of cars. Definitely recommend to all new parents or even who are looking for an upgrade.

My family has really loved using the Safety 1st onBoard insta-latch DLX car seat. This car seat was easy to adjust and fit to our 11 pound baby boy. The infant padding was very comfortable and included both removable head supports and hip support! The fabric was soft and easy to clean spit up from. The grip on the handle is a really nice addition, and it made carrying our boy easier and more comfortable for us. I also loved the extendable mesh canopy! Buckling the seat into the car without the base was also super easy- the belt path is much easier than other car seats we've used. This car seat definitely feels more luxurious at a fraction of the cost of other options. The only downfall was that when latched it was a bit longer compared to our other infant seat, and we had to move the driver seat up a couple more inches. Overall I would definitely recommend this seat to my friends and family, and I appreciate Stellar Product Testing Panel providing me this infant car seat to test and review.

This car seat was OK. I was a little disappointed in the overall feel of the car seat. It seemed plastic-y. The fabric was super nice though and was a nice color! Also it was super light which helps a ton with a heavy infant. I received this infant car seat from the Stellar Product Testing Panel.

I received the car seat as part of the Stellar Product Testing Panel to test out with my 9 month old. It was very easy to set up and adjust. The fabric is really nice. I really liked the feeling of the quilted design. The infant inserts are also very soft and perfect for a little one. My child was really comfortable in it and it was really easy to use and so lightweight! I also love how easy it is to take the fabric off and clean! Highly recommend!

I was given this infant car seat to try as part of the Stellar Product Testing Panel. I was very impressed with the safety features, the weight, and the material. The car seat was super easy to install and has a level line on the car seat. The Insta-Latch connectors were very easy to secure to the car and I absolutely love the indicator turns green when the base is secure. It's comforting to know your car seat is fully secure in the car. This car seat has all the necessary safety features and only weighs 7.5 pounds. The car seat fits children weighing 4-30 pounds, making it very versatile for parents. The head/body insert provides extra support for the itty bitty babies and can be removed. You can easily adjust the harness to ensure the right fit as your baby grows. The material in the car seat isn't so thick that I will have to worry about my baby overheating in the summer months. The canopy also provides sun protection which is a huge bonus when living in Florida. I love that the material is washable! The seat pad is easily removable and replaceable- no more spending hours on putting the car seat back together after a blow out! Lastly, I love the handle and the canopy are not attached to each other- this makes carrying the car seat 1000 times easier!

I was given this infant car seat to try as part of the Stellar Product Testing Panel. My daughter was 4 months, 16 pounds and 24 inches when we received this seat. Let me start off with saying I am a third time mom and this was the first time I have used this brand of seat. First impression out of the box was how comfortable the fabric was and how incredibly lightweight the seat was. The inside of the seat was wider than our other seat which really helped my daughter in the car. She didn't feel so cramped and was able to comfortably relax while on long car rides. I did feel as though the recline was a little less than I would have liked. She sat up higher than her previous seat and I don't know how that would have looked on a newborn. Her feet also stuck out which made me wonder how long she would have comfortably fit in this seat. Although for the price and how easy the seat is to carry, even with my 4 month old, you can't really go wrong. This seat does require a complete rethread when adjusting the shoulder straps but that means one less plastic component that could break on a different style adjustable seat, so not necessarily a bad thing. Rethreading was very simple and took about 5 minutes. I loved the different positions that the carry handle could click in. The carry bar is thinner than others I have seen on the market also which helps when carrying it and out of the car. I have small hands so thicker handles are hard to grab. The last think I will add is pertaining to clicking the seat into the base. Although the seat clicks in allowing for an auditory signal knowing the seat is in place correctly, there was quite a bit of play when pulling up and down to double check the "click". Maybe it was a fluke on mine as I haven't read any other reviews talking about this. I would love to hear anyone else's opinion on this. Between the pros and cons, I would feel comfortable and confident recommending this seat to any caregiver.

I was given this infant car seat to try as part of the Stellar Product Testing Panel. Overall, I think it's a good infant car seat, but it doesn't work with our current travel system which is a brand other than safety 1st. There are many things I like about this car seat and a few I dislike. I'll start with the good. 1. It was super simple to install and probably the feature I liked best about the car seat. I've installed a couple other brands of car seat bases, but this one was hands down the easiest. I used the lower anchor belt to clip onto my cars lower anchors then pushed down on the base until the tightness indicator turned green. If you have to switch the car seat between vehicles, you should definitely consider this seat. 2. I like the handle grip. 3. I really like how far the canopy can be opened. Keeps sun out of the baby's eyes much better than my current one. 4. It's easy to unlock the chest harness. 5. I like how easy it is to click the car seat into and remove it from the base, but that's similar to other car seats I've used. 6. I had to raise the shoulder straps and buckle and both were easy to do, but again it's comparable to other brands. The features I dislike are: 1. It doesn't work with my current travel system. It a different brand than my current car seat and stroller, so it's unsurprising but I don't want to buy another stroller. 2. The fabric looks appealing, but if the baby gets sick, it may be difficult to clean. 3. The finger hole to loosen the shoulder straps is small and a little difficult to get my finger in. If you have large fingers, you may struggle. 4. The canopy is very difficult to adjust and noisy. I'm used to being able to adjust from the top, but I have to push from the slides. If baby is sleeping in the car seat, adjusting the canopy might wake them.

My family and I have been very happy with the onBoard Insta-LATCH DLX Infant Car Seat. As a first time mom, safety and ease of use are my main concerns. So far, this car seat has ticked both of those boxes. The base is easy to install with visual indicators, and the straps are easy to adjust to get a snug fit. The fabric is very padded and my little girl is happy/comfortable every time we put her in the car seat (if you couldn't tell from the big smile on her face!). We have already had to wash the machine washable seat pad after my daughter spit up after a feed, and the fabric has held up incredibly well. Our favorite feature has to be how light weight the car seat is. My husband works full time and I often have to go out on my own, and the weight of the seat makes my life a hundred times easier when I am juggling groceries and a diaper bag! I received this car seat to test through the Stellar Product Testing Panel. While this car seat is a really good affordable option, it's not the best that I've tried. The fabric is really soft and I especially liked that there were no tags to rub against my baby's head. However, he did have a spit up while in the car seat and we had a hard time getting the stain out. It took a bit of rubbing. The installation of the car seat was relatively easy. My husband and I took about 5-6 minutes to properly adjust and fit it in the car. It is really easy to click the car seat in though, so slinging the baby's seat in the base while on the go was very easy. The car seat is pretty lightweight which is a great point. It felt a little awkward to carry maybe because the handle was so hard and square. I removed the seat padding to fit my baby in properly, and with that I had to rethread the straps to adjust them correctly. That was a pain! And maybe this is the only reason I gave it a 4 star review. I felt that it was a drag to sit my baby in, remove him, rethread, try again, and then repeat. It took a while to get the straps properly fitted and then in the end I didn't like the fit of the straps and chest plate on his chest. To me they seem like it wasn't a good fit. Either way this is a GOOD car seat, I would definitely purchase as a second car seat or one for grandma's car. Thank you Stellar Panel!

I was given this infant car seat to try as part of the Stellar Product Testing Panel. It was very easy to install in the car and I liked that there was an option to install without the base which will make it great for travel. It was also pretty easy to adjust the straps with the rethread option on the back. My little guy seemed comfy in the car seat too. The canopy on top seemed a little flimsy but the material inside was nice and was very easy to clean and wipe down. It was a little difficult for me to detach the car seat from the base when taking it out of the car but with practice it will get easier. It is pretty light but a little wide so it was a little more difficult for me to carry around. Overall, it is a good car seat and gets the job done!

Thanks to the Stellar Product Testing Panel for providing me with this infant car seat! The car seat itself is super lightweight, which is really helpful once you have a baby in there. The infant support also seemed really sturdy and supportive. My baby wasn't small enough to test it, but it looked like it'd actually help hold her head and body in place (see attached picture.) The downside for me was that to adjust the harness and crotch strap, you have to rethread it yourself. All the car seats I've used until now, I just have to raise the headrest to adjust the straps so this seemed like a huge step down for me. The upside was in regards to the car seat base. The "instant latch" feature is innovative and amazing. Once you clip in the anchors, you just have to press on the base until an indicator light shows green to help you know it's tight enough. Leveling it was kind of annoying as you had to insert the base to make sure it was level and then remove it again to level the base better. A level on the base itself would be helpful. Rethreading harnesses for me personally is a really annoying task. However, so is tightening a car seat base. The instant latch of the car seat is something I've never seen before and I really loved it, it prevented this car seat from being a 3 star for me.

What an amazing car seat system! For starters, safety. The Secure Tech installation system is intuitive, quick and easy! I love that the tabs visually turn green to ensure a safe and secure install. The car seat itself is comfortable, with padding and plush strap supports. I love the modern, sleek look of the seat and the comfortable grip on the handle for easy transport. It is also lightweight, which makes carrying my baby around less of an arm workout. One of my favorite features is the sunshade and that it extends for extra coverage to protect my little one as the sun is setting as well as breathable fabric for great airflow. I didn't need it as my baby has outgrown, but for future children I am also excited about the infant insert. Overall, 5/5! I was given this infant car seat to try as part of the Stellar Product Testing Panel. When I first took it out of the box, I loved the look of the car seat. The gender neutral color and design was very good. It looked to be padded and to be comfortable for the baby to ride in. I was not a huge fan of the sun shade attached to the car seat. I thought it was difficult to move and it made a very loud noise the whole time it moved, which would not be good if you had a sleeping baby. It was very easy to install, which is a huge plus. The car seat itself is very lightweight, so with my 20 pound baby, that makes it nice to not have a lot of added weight. I did not like how the car seat attached into the base. I can easily move the car seat back and forth inside the base. It is latched on to the base very well, so I could not pull the seat out of the base but it moved way more than I am comfortable with. I followed instructions perfectly on how to install the base and the base itself did not move very much so I know it was not a matter of the base install. It is the case sit fitting inside the base that is the problem. If I were to install the car seat with seatbelt only, I would like the seat more. The base itself, I loved. It was so simple to install and I love the red/green indicator making sure it is secure. I love that the tethers had retractable straps so there is not extra straps you have to mess with. The latches were so easy to install and uninstall with the one click. I personally do not like the car seat and base together. I was given this infant car seat to try as part of the Stellar Product Testing Panel and I was pleasantly surprised by the quality! When I pulled it out of the box, I immediately loved the look of it. The quilted texture gives it a high quality look and the plush head and body pillow inserts make it very comfortable. My little guy (3.5 months) has never been a huge fan of getting in his car seat, but he never fussed when being put in this one. It is super light and the large canopy (extendable zipper mesh panel) makes it easy to shade your baby. The only couple of things that could use some adjustment would be the canopy and canopy hoop material. The canopy material is very thin and I'm not sure how much sun it would keep out on sunny, summer days. The plastic canopy hoop is also quite flimsy and clicks very loud when adjusting it up and down. Woke my sleeping baby a couple of times with the noise! Overall, it is a great car seat, especially at this price point!

When I received this car seat as part of the Stellar Product Testing Panel, I was honestly blown away by how light it was. I didn't know infant car seats could be this light! It says 7.5 lbs but feels even less than that, maybe because I am used to carrying around a much heavier seat. This would be fantastic for taking on a plane, for example. The light weight of this is definitely its biggest plus. Another huge asset is the ease of installation. The base clicks in in just a matter of seconds, and the installation guides make it so simple to make sure you have it in correctly. It's a total dream to install compared to other, clunkier car seat bases. The cushions seems lux and comfortable, with a nice color scheme and a pretty diamond pattern. However, the sunshade seems very flimsy. The strap clips, too, felt a bit cheap. In general, the biggest downside of this seat is that it doesn't feel very durable or sturdy. I am sure that is what contributes to it being so light, so that is the trade off. Overall, this is a super choice if you want a lightweight infant seat without any hassle, but may not be the best bet for longterm, daily use.
