Safety 1st Secure-to-Explore Adhesive Magnetic Locks - White

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this adhesive magnetic lock through the stellar testing panel. Having a separate device needed to unlock the drawer makes things complicated beings you need to always know where the little key is. It’s complicated to figure out how to install. Also the adhesive part isn’t my first preference in case I would decide to take it off some adhesive can be hard to remove without damaging a pc of furniture. The idea is nice, however the practicality of the system lacks. I wouldn’t purchase and I wouldn’t recommend.

These locks are much bigger than others I’ve seen making it easy for the magnetic key to unlock. The sticky tape adhesive could be a bit stronger but overall they work as they should and come with included hardware if using them for a very extended time is necessary.

These were by far the easiest to install of any baby cabinet locks I have tried. The alignment tabs are very helpful and you would have to try to not line it up to install it wrong. The magnet is also very strong so it doesn’t have to be right on the spot to unlock. The locks are also very easy to switch between locked and unlocked for those times when you don’t need to locking mechanism to work. Super happy with them.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received these childproof cabinet locks through the Stellar Product Testing Panel! With a two year old at home, child proofing is a necessity. I have tried several different brands of this style of cabinet lock (magnetic, adhesive) and I found this one to work best with my cabinet type. There are two adhesive strips that keep it secured, which I think makes all the difference for them being able to actually stick and not get pulled off. The adhesive on these works really well. I found other brands did not stick as well. I was impressed that right off the bat they were so stuck on. It is recommended to allow 24 hours for the adhesive to stick fully, so be mindful about that. I am very impressed with these, the design is great, even the “key” has a nice design. It works every time, no jamming that I’ve experienced. I will definitely be getting more of these and replacing my old ones. These provide a lot of peace of mind when it comes to keeping our little ones safe. I highly recommend!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The locks look and work great. The magnet key is super strong so it even works with thick doors and drawers! It’s super easy to lock and unlock the locks and there is a small switch that you can flip if you don’t need the lock to be engaged all the time. They are a little big so if the drawer is shallow or doesn’t open very far it might be harder to get items in and out of it. The only downside I found was who I installed them. It was very difficult to line the two pieces up when used on a drawer, a cabinet may have been easier. The only way to see if it locked properly was by trial and error. It took several tries and it was rather hard to adjust them because of the sticky backs. Overall I like the product and still recommend them! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] After receiving the secure-to-explore adhesive cabinet and drawer locks from stellar product testing, I went straight to installing them. The install is simple with the adhesive backing however, it really didn't have the holding power to withstand the pulls of my toddlers. I did need to add the screws. The lock and unlock lever afforded me the ability to engage/disengage the lock as needed. It made cooking easy when I didn't need to search for the magnet key constantly. Now the key is a powerful magnet and only receiving one made for some difficulty opening when my 9 year old lost the key. Being the key is the size of a small super ball, I fear a potential choke hazard as well. A strong redesign of the key would earn extreme kudos here.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have been hesitant to use the magnetic locks because it seemed like a hassle to have to reach for a magnet when I want to open my cabinet. However, I haven’t found it to be an inconvenience. This lock is actually easier to open than my other locks because with the other ones I have to fit my fingers in the gap of the cabinet to unlatch it. I am a little worried about losing the magnet, it’d be great if it came with a backup. My favorite feature is that it can be switched on or off super easily without actually removing the child lock. It was easy to install, however, I did have to readjust one and between that and testing out the lock a few times it lost its adhesive and wouldn’t stick. I wish it came with extra adhesives. My daughter enjoyed playing with the food cans and boxes however, as she got older and stronger she was able to rip open bags of cereal and rice making so many messes. Thank you Stellar Panel for sending me Secure-to-explore adhesive magnetic locks to try at the perfect time! They were so easy to install with the clear instructions I installed both in under 5 minutes which is a must with a busy toddler. The magnet to unlock is very strong and large enough grab easily without being an eye sore. My toddler was pretty upset when I first installed it and even with her pulling super hard on the cabinet she couldn’t get in. This product is very high quality and I can tell it will hold up through the toddler years. I do wish it came with a magnet key for each lock because we have them installed on opposite ends of the kitchen but it’s not a deal breaker for us. This is a product I’ve already recommended to multiple mom friends because of how great it’s been!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Initially I was frustrated trying to figure out what the image on the box was showing me and not being able to find directions from the QR code. I'm pretty good at figuring out function, so after trying it and waking away and trying again a few times, I was able to figure it out. After getting it installed, it's really functional and sturdy. I decided to try using it on my medicine cabinet and my lazy Susan cabinet with double hinged doors. Once I got it in place, I feel confident that it'll keep it closed, even for my 4 year old who can get into almost anything. Thank you Stellar Panel for providing this product to review.

I was sent this product through Stellar Product Testing Panel and I am so thankful I was because it came just as my 10 month old learned to open all of our kitchen cabinets. I put them on our lower cabinet doors beneath the kitchen sink so that my baby can’t get into all the cleaned supplies in that cabinet. He pulls and pulls but no matter how hard you tug, it won’t open without the magnet at the top of the door! It gives me peace of mind and I plan to purchase more for other cabinets I don’t want him to get into! So simple to just peel and stick to the cabinet it took less than 5 minutes to secure it in place!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’m due with Baby #3 in about a month, so I was very excited when the Stellar Product Testing Panel sent these magnetic locks to try out. However, we couldn’t even get them to attach to the cabinets. We have “the landlord special”—cheap cabinets that have been painted over with oil-based paint who knows how many times. The sticky part of the locks would not attach to the paint, and the screws pulled right out when we tested the door. We even tried our own longer screws, and it didn’t work. There is the distinct possibility the design is actually great and functions well when used on stronger and/or unpainted cabinets, but we’ve got what we’ve got. Very disappointing. The magnet itself seems strong, though.

I was super excited to try this product as I have been very happy with other products from this company. However I quickly realized that because our cupboards are a little on the thinner/lightweight side, there was a little give. This give meant that if my child pulls with enough force it will open. I was also disappointed that the adhesive for this product was not as effective as the others locks by this brand. I took it off and put it on a cabinet in our house that was a little more sturdy and screwed it in instead of using the adhesive. It works wonderfully now just as advertised.

I have been looking for something that would work on our entertainment center and thought these would be perfect. After installing I realized we probably would not be keeping these on. You have to have the magnet to unlock, which is expected but a kinda irritating part is you have to keep the magnet in place while opening the door. So you need 2 hands, one to hold the magnet in place and one to open the door. Not always easy when you have a toddler running around and just need to quickly get something out of a cabinet or drawer. It’s just not practical for our household. Would probably be good on cabinets or drawers you rarely use. The directions are terrible and are hard to follow but we figured it out. I’m not really impressed and as stated before will probably remove these. Unfortunately the adhesive wasn’t strong enough to hold them on so we screwed them in place and now we will have holes on the doors of my entertainment center. On top of that these are expensive for just 2 locks, and only come with 1 magnet. It’s a pass for me, I wouldn’t recommend them in most situations, but I could see benefit if you have a very intelligent toddler who has figured out the typical cabinet locks.

I have 2 young children and we never got around to fully baby proofing our cabinets. This has been a problem as our 2 year old loves going into the under the sink cabinets which usually hold our cleaning supplies. Thankfully due to these locks we were easily able to install them and put our cleaning products back under the sink which is much more convenient. The locks have adhesive on them as well as screw in options. It comes with a strong magnetic key to unlock them easily. The magnetic key can be stored right on our fridge high up . Will be recommending to my friend who is currently expecting.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Secure-to-explore Adhesive Magnetic Locks by Safety 1st are easy to install and use. I have never been a fan of the traditional child locks where you have to press the tab down and so discovering these magnetic locks has been great. The magnetic lock is both strong and easy to open with the magnet key. Refrigerator magnets do not work on the lock which makes it even more secure with young kids. Instillation was very simple and the adhesive strips seems to be holding up nicely inside the cabinets. The one difficulty I have had with these locks is the relationship between my metal door hardware and the strong magnetic key. The key pulls strongly to the metal hardware which meant I needed to locate the lock further away from the corner of the door and handle. Other than this one difficulty, these locks have been great and have kept our littles out of the cabinets. Thanks Stellar Product Testing Panel for this great babyproofing item.

As first time mom to a one year old, the review is 100% my own opinion. The locks are bulky and excessive to get the job done. I read the instructions carefully and initially installed one of locks on a tip out tray/ flip out drawer in the front of a sink that my daughter keeps pulling down on herself. Due to the unlocking mechanism of the magnet + the angle of the drawer, it is now essentially glued shut. So, the locks certainly keep the drawer/cabinet closed. However I obviously can’t share a photo of it. I did not install the second lock that came in the package. It’s just too bulky.

These Safety 1st locks are just the ticket! The locks come with both screws and adhesive backing for easy installation, and honestly we’re pretty easy to install. I like that they are low profile locks for cabinets and drawers. No big, external child proof locks that can feel bulky and interfere with decor. I installed mine on my bathroom cabinets to keep cleaning supplies locked away, and they work well! The toggle switch to lock or unlock is a nice touch. It isn’t easily bumped one way or the other. The one drawback for me personally is that the magnet “key” for the lock is quite a bit smaller than I would expect. About 1.5 inches long and maybe the width of a quarter, it feels like it could be a choking hazard if left in a place where little hands could get it. Otherwise, this product is worth the investment! When I got these, I was pleasantly surprised with how eas they were to install and use. I was very tired at the end of a long workday and didn’t want to spend a ton of time reading an instruction manual, but was able to figure it out in short order from looking at the pictures that were included and reading the basic instructions. Total time for set up might have been ten minutes. I love how this works! The only thing that is tough is finding a place for the key, as it must be attached to something metallic that the magnet will hold to. But I was able to find a convenient spot even in my bathroom. Thanks to the Stellar Product Testing panel for getting these in my hands. I would definitely recommend them for baby proofing your house.
