Q: The tires on the bike say min. psi 44, max. 73, but the Schwinn replacement tubes Target sell say max. pressure 40 psi. I bought one and filled it to 60 psi. a week later it's flat. What should I do?

submitted by rob23 - 8 months ago
  • A: Hi Rob, You should inflate to the max PSI of the tube, not the tire. So in your case, it sounds like you should inflate to a max of 40 as it says on the replacement tube. Enjoy your ride!

submitted bySchwinn - 7 months ago

submitted bySchwinn - 7 months ago
  • A: Hi. We're sorry to hear about your experience. We recommend only inflating the innertube to the maximum PSI noted on the part. Overfilling it will damage or tear the tube. While the original tube/ tire may be able to hold more air, the specifications for our replacement tubes may differ. Best regards,

Q: The size chart says that the standover clearance should be 1-3 inches. I know the inseam of my rider but I cannot find the standover height of this bike frame. Can you tell me how high the bar is?

  • A: I am 5'4'' and my feet could not touch the ground when standing over the bar.

Q: What type of Shimano gear set comes with the bike?

submitted by Curious - 6 years ago
  • A: The shifters are the ST-EF41L and ST-EF417R while the rear derailleur is a TY300D and the front derailleur is a LX-B18. Thank you.

submitted bySchwinnCustomerSupport - 6 years ago
    Brand expert
  • A: It might have been true 1 year ago. Unfortunately, the current version doesn't have any visible Shimano, both derailleurs and shifters are some lower end MicroShift. The item description is not accurate.

Q: Does the bike come together when I order it online and it sent to the store for pickup?

submitted by Scott - 6 years ago
  • A: I ordered it for pick up from Target as they had it in stock for same day pickup. I even waited 3 days before I went to get it and when I arrived, they gave me a box.

submitted byDisappointed - 5 years ago
  • A: Hi there Scott - As long as you can click on the red "Pick It Up" button on the right hand side of the bike page on target.com, it'll be assembled at the store and ready for pickup. Bikes purchased on target.com using 'Home Delivery' or 'Ship-to-Store delivery' won't be assembled. Thank you.

Q: I just bought this bike a couple of days ago in my target store and LOVE it! My question is, does anyone know how to raise/ adjust the handle bars?

submitted by Robbie - 7 years ago
  • A: Hi Robbie - this bike has a threadless handlebar stem and can't be raised. Thanks

submitted bySchwinnCustomerSupport - 7 years ago
    Brand expert
  • A: A slight amount of adjustability (a few inches) is possible if you have an Allen wrench and change the angle of the stem. I raised mine for better posture. I can see better and I'm not leaning over as much.

submitted byTommy - 4 years ago

Q: what is the maximum weight the bike support and what is the tire pressure ? I looked at the tire but it is not clear

submitted by peter - 8 years ago
  • A: Hi peter, we don't have a weight limit. It's best to make sure your bike is assembled properly and that adjustments are made correctly. The general psi range is 50 - 75 psi. Thanks for your questions!

submitted bySchwinnCustomerSupport - 8 years ago
    Brand expert
  • A: I put 40 psi in both front and rear. Works good.

submitted byDanny - 8 years ago

Q: Bike says it has an aluminum frame and is light weight but shows at 43lbs. Is that correct?

submitted by Russ - 8 years ago
  • A: The sign in the Frisco, TX store said 34 pounds. I like the lighter weight Schwinn Circuit (29 pounds) but that bike only has about one inch clearance between the pedal in forward position and the front wheel, so really bad toe overlap. This bike is much better in that regard.

submitted byTexasCustomer - 8 years ago
  • A: Hi Russ, this bike weighs 37.5 lbs. Thanks for pointing this out - we're working on getting that corrected.

I bought this bike 1 year ago and it is still running excellent. Other than a derailleur adjustment from a local bike shop, I think this is a very good $300.00 bike. I definetlety would have rated this 5 star if it came with a working derailleur.

    Front Tire Went Flat

Bought this on sale without testing out first. Took it home, put some air in the tires following the recommended PSI guidelines, rode it up and down my driveway for a minute or so, then it went back in my garage. I immediately noticed the front brake was rubbing against the tire and I thought oh I will adjust that later on. About a week later I notice the front tire is completely flat and coming off the actual wheel and is extremely wobbly. Not sure what happened but I returned the bike for sure (which Target made very simple). Seems the bike was poorly assembled, maybe by a Target employee? The bike is also much larger than anticipated. I am 5'7" and my feet could barely touch the ground with the seat as low as it could go. Ultimately a very disappointing experience.

Purchased this bike in store and rolled it out. Store Bike Builder did a great job. It was ready to ride. (and it has been riden and tested on both pavement and bike trails) I did a lot of research on bikes before purchasing, especially Schwinn's. This rig has ALL the features I was looking for. Buying on sale made it all the sweeter. You won't go wrong with the Schwinn Trailway.

Hi Diane. Thanks for your valuable feedback. Chances are a simple adjustment may be all that’s needed to get you back on the road or trail. If you've already checked our YouTube channel, website and your owner's manual (and if you don't have it - no worries! Most are available on our websites), and if you're still stumped, here's a few self-service options that may help: 1. We love Park Tool's website. It's one of the best. https://www.parktool.com/blog/repair-help 2. Take your bike back to where you purchased it. Depending on where you bought it, the retailer may offer free or low-cost adjustments. 3. Make an appointment at your local bike shop for an inspection and/or repair. They love helping riders get back in the bike lane! 4. Check out https://www.velofix.com/, a mobile bike assembly and repair service, to see if they're in an area near you. We're also happy to walk you through an adjustment or assembly over the phone. Our bike experts are available Mon-Fri, 7 am to 6 pm, CT at 800-626-2811. Warm Regards,

    Great when New

    4 out of 5 stars
    Dan - 3 years ago
Loved the bike new... About 5 years now...rebuilt crank bearings, 2 missing spokes, out of true tire, plastic around rear gears (not important) broken, reflectors on spokes eventually broke and just flew away while riding (like, what was that noise, and looking to see only one end of the reflector still there). Still rides good, at least it will once I get new spokes and true the back wheel. Just recreational riding on streets and paved paths, longest ride has probably been 15/20 miles. Summer family riding mainly. Always stored in garage so not weather damage. I did pull a child trailer and trail bike with it, so maybe that was hard on the bearings. Nice bike, good features, comfortable, rides smooth and fast. Just not long term quality, have to keep fixing. The crank bearing was after just 2 years. Maybe newer versons are better? Trade off for price vs quality? Not that its cheap, still an investment. I have 20 year old bikes that hold up better, but aren't as comfortable. It's all in what you are looking for. I enjoy riding it when its working. It really does ride nice. The gearing and shifters are good. Recommend? Maybe.
