When we advise to make sure that the lawn is wet before applying, it's to allow the product the chance to stick to the weed leaves for weed control on already established weeds. After 24 hours, we advise to water the lawn to allow the product to come into contact with the soil to provide crabgrass prevention.

It will not prevent broadleaf weeds (before or after the application) and it will not kill existing crabgrass or other grassy type weeds. For broadleaf weed control temperatures must be consistently (several days in a row) between 60 and 80°F. For listed grassy weeds to be prevented this has to be applied before the target grassy weeds germinate. The lawn must be wet for the product to stick to the broadleaf weed leaves. The product must remain on the weed leaves for 24 hours. After the first 24 hours the product must be watered in, this will help with the prevention of the weeds listed as being prevented such as crabgrass. Weeds may temporarily appear healthier and greener after an application of a weed control. The active ingredients trigger uncontrolled plant growth that causes weed listed on the label to die. You should notice the weeds begin to curl and yellow a few days after application due to this excessive growth. Weeds will die within 2 to 4 week period, depending on temperature conditions.
