Description

Roundup For Lawns4 is a tough weed killer for use on Southern grasses that kills weeds, not the lawn (when used as directed). This product kills 93 types of weeds, including dollarweed, dandelion, clover, and yellow nutsedge (see inside booklet for weed list). It can be used on Southern grasses, including Bermudagrass, Bahiagrass, Centipede, and St. Augustine (including Floratam). The ready-to-use formula with our extended wand makes it ideal for targeting weeds in hard to reach places. In fact, one gallon of Roundup For Lawns4 treats up to approximately 2,000 weeds. This product starts working immediately and is rainproof in 4 hours. Roundup For Lawns4 kills the root so weeds won’t come back. The best time for broadleaf weed applications is when weeds are young, actively growing, and soil moisture is adequate. Weeds typically twist, curl, or yellow within a few days of application, while weed death can occur within 14 to 28 days. Roundup For Lawns4 is a simple step for home lawn care. No weeds. No worry.

Q: Will this work on sandbur? Is it safe on zoysia grass?

submitted by Mark - 1 year ago
  • A: Roundup for Southern Lawns4 Ready-to-Use may be applied to dormant bermudagrass, dormant zoysiagrass and dormant bahiagrass. Use caution when applying this product to warm-season turfgrasses when turf is going into dormancy in the fall or coming out of dormancy in the spring as some injury may occur. Sandbur is not included on the list of weeds that this product controls. We would suggest using a product such as Roundup Weed & Grass Killer (Concentrate Plus, Super Concentrate, RTU). But please be aware non-selective controls such as Roundup will damage all vegetation, including the lawn. So if you are using this on your lawn, only use this as a spot treatment for the individual weeds, spray when there is no wing and directly into the center of the weed.

Does not work. Spray on weeds & 5 days later, still there. Vinegar & salt solution kills in a few hours.

We're sorry to read about your disappointment with Roundup for Lawns4 Ready-to-Use Refill (Southern) and appreciate your feedback. Be sure to apply Roundup for Lawns4 Ready-to-Use Refill (Southern) when your daytime high temperatures are consistently between 60-90 degrees. Since this product is absorbed through the weed's foliage, we recommend that the weeds not be mowed for two days both before and after the product application. Even though you should see visible results after 24 hours, it may take up to 28 days for the weeds to completely die. Roundup for Lawns4 Ready-to-Use Refill (Southern) does not control grassy weeds, except for nutsedge. We want you to be confident in our products. For this reason, we offer a product guarantee. If for any reason you, the consumer, are not satisfied with the results after using this product, you are entitled to get your money back. Limitations apply. At your earliest convenience, please reach out to us at866-324-2647 if we can further assist.

We are sorry to read about your experience with the Roundup for Lawns Ready-to-Use. While visible results may be seen after 24 hours, it can take 14-28 days for the weed to be completely killed. Look for yellowing or browning of the leaves as a sign of the product working. Our product is designed to kill listed broadleaf weeds and nutsedge, but it won't kill grassy weeds. The weeds you're dealing with may have been dormant if temperatures were below 60°F or above 90°F. Cold nights can also delay results. If it rained after application, the product could have been washed off the weeds, reducing its effectiveness. Plants under drought stress may not absorb the herbicide effectively. We recommend watering 8 hours before and 8 hours after application during dry conditions. Mowing 2 days before or after application can reduce the leaf surface area, making it harder for the plant to absorb the herbicide. If you have any further questions, please reach out to our Consumer Services team at 866-324-2647 for assistance.

I bought this product 2 months ago. Applied it to my St. Augustine grass that was filled with all kinds of nasty weeds, mostly dollar weed, but about 8 other pesky weed types that have been back every year since the area was flooded by the levee failures after Katrina. This was the first product that really worked. I am in New Orleans. I applied it in March. Didn’t mow two weeks prior nor 2 weeks after. Was pretty bad looking in the interim. I could tell it was working by the 2nd week and saw that it continued to work even after that first mow. Now, the lawn is looking almost as healthy as it was pre-K. Thanks

Turned my Bermuda grass yellow. It looks dead. Hopefully it is not. Package states that Bermuda grass "may" turn yellow? It did, why understate this issue? Deceptive description.

Bottle only covers about 1,600 sq ft.

Bottle says it will cover up to 6,000 sq ft This is not accurate and very misleading Had to use 2 bottles to cover a little over 3,200 sq ft. It runs out extremely fast. I found myself having to work quickly in order to cover the lawn. I think I missed a few spots because of being in such a hurry. Hopefully it kills the weeds.
1 reply from Customer Care team - 1 year ago
We're sorry to read about your disappointment with Roundup for Southern Lawns and appreciate your feedback. Use the product at 4 ounces per gallon of water to cover 500 square feet of treated area. If used in a dial n spray: Turn dial to 2 1/2 ounces per 400 square feet. If using a hose end sprayer the solution comes out very quickly. The Ortho Dial N Spray dispenses approximately 2 gallons per minutes. This means that it will cover 1000 square feet (50ft x 20ft) within 60 seconds. If under-applied, wait the recommended 21 days before reapplying. We want you to be confident in our products. For this reason, we offer a product guarantee to our consumers. Great product, lousy instructions

The basic instructions should be UP FRONT and in larger print. Come on. Print is too small for most of us to read! Illustrations on how to turn the thing on must be clearer, can't see an on or off label on the little red cap, connected to the bottle. But it turns out that is NOT where the on and off is! STOP BURYING BASIC INSTRUCTIONS IN ALL THAT MESS. 2 days before and after NO MOW. Rain proof in 4 hours, but water in 8 hours. CLEAR AND UP FRONT. TAKE OUT BATTERIES!!

We had a MAJOR infestation of Silybum and Canadian thistles on our property, mostly concentrated around our septic tanks area. Took 2 seasons of treating with Roundup, and now all clear. Just have to chase those that are blown in from the surrounding area and sprout. I highly recommend this product, as it was proven very effective in this application. And always wear the proper PPE when applying!

Pathetic

originally posted on roundup.com
Perhaps the lack of effectiveness is at least in part due to insufficient surfactant. The product beads on leaves and blades like water droplets on a freshly waxed and polished car. None of the other Roundup products suffer from this deficiency. I learned over 50 years ago to add dish soap for a wetting agent with Weed-B-gon if nothing else was available. Surely a chemical company could do better. The other Roundup products are very good, but someone dropped the ball on this one
