Seagate Expansion Portable 5TB External Hard Drive HDD - 2.5 Inch USB 3.0, for Mac and PC with Rescue Services (STKM5000400)

I have been using Seagate expansion drives for many years. First with a PC, now with an iMAC. The seagate external drives are dependable at all times. It is compatible with PCs and MAC plus others on sale.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am a pack rat when it comes to photos and files on my laptop. I have such a hard time deleting anything. I was looking at a couple external hard drives and found that Seagate was the next best thing. It works well with my windows system and its ready right out of the box! I am not sure how it works with mac but it would probably just take a bit of reformatting to work. I like the design on the hard drive as it give it a little extra something when i have it plugged in. So far i have had no issues with my files being stored on my Seagate expansion external hard drive.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] With external hard drives, the key issues for a basic user like me are: will it work right away without any hassle, and how fast will it copy files? And then you can think about things like how rugged it is, or how cool it looks. For the first issue, working right away, the Seagate portable is top notch. I plugged in the USB to my older MapBook and was immediately able to see it and start copying files with no issue. For the second issue, of speed, it was more of a mixed bag. Copying around 12GB of data from the laptop through the USB connection took a bit over 10 minutes. However, copying from a different external drive running on Thunderbolt was noticeably slower. If you are only using the external drive for regular backups and taking files on and off, this is a great option. If you are running active files from the hard drive, like local streaming of media files, it is probably too slow for consistency.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This was super simple for me to set up. I've never used an external hard drive before, only flash drives, and didn't quite know what to expect. The set up was straight forward. As soon as I plugged it in, the drive window opened and I clicked the get started for Windows icon. That opened a registration page, I registered, then clicked a link about formatting the hard drive. I didn't have to do that step because my hard drive was already formatted for use. I started dragging and dropping files to the expansion drive and, voila! The size is portable and it's lightweight so you could travel with this easily. It's not small enough to fit comfortably in a pocket, but still portable.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bought this to store all the PS4 games on my PS5. I’ve had it for a couple weeks and so far, so good -no issues. The PS4 games play like they should and I can save the internal SSD storage for the PS5 games. There is no need for external power. Just plugged it into the PS5, it recognized the drive right away, did the PlayStation reformat, and it was ready to go. No idea yet about the durability.

After plugging into your computer, go to your File Explorer, under the Your PC section you'll see your external hard drive and in there you'll see a file to open up to register and find out how to use. Very fast and simple, I have great peace of mind knowing my files are secure. I definitely recommend.

I like that it’s portable - we travel for work and don’t want to have to bog down our laptops with extra files, so this is great to use until we get home to load into our desktop. Does what an expansion drive is supposed to.

We have not had any issues and he can even use it with his game console. It is made very well and has tons of storage space. It is perfect for work,, school,, or gaming. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We recently ran out of room on our PlayStation and the two options was to change out the internal drive for a bigger drive or add and external hard drive and for me the external hard drive seemed to be an easier option and this was so easy to set up. Setting this up only took a minute and it just going to the PlayStation devices and formatting the device and then changing the setting so the any new games and app would be installed on the hard drive. Another plus with the external hard drive when I’m not using it on the PlayStation I can also use it to save important documents so that I have back ups and because the hard drive is so small I can easily grab it and toss it in my purse, it is literally about the size of my hand so it is super portable. Also space wise this is really quiet enough for a ton of files and games as it’s about six times the space my PlayStation has on it to begin with so I feel like it will take me awhile to fill up. Overall I’m really happy with the external harddrive and think it’s definitely useful to have.

When it arrived I was sure that they accidentally sent me a small 512gb or something but nope...5TB! Used it immediately as I am replacing my computer with a new one through a warranty claim and the backup was so smooth.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My husband has wanted extra storage in the xbox one so we decided to try this out and see how it worked. I am happy to say it is perfect for what we need and super simple set up. First off it was ready to go out of the box. We plugged it into the xbox where it prompted us to format it. Two clicks and it was formatted. We set it to download all games to it and it was ready. Downloading a new game had no issues either. The whole thing took just a minute or two to be ready to go. We now have plenty of extra space for downloading games and don't have to keep deleting games for the kids and adults to have room. Over all super simple and just right for us. I am very pleased. There is no lag playing either. I also like how small it is. It sits on top of the console just right

I personally use it for my laptop but can be used on desktop as well. It uses a USB 2.0 and 3.0. It has auto back up if set right when registering it. It also allows the drag and drop file saving that many of us has used in past. There is a limited warranty and a rescue data recovery service.
