Q: Is there a locking function when the umbrella is opened fully? I understand it is manual push open but I would like to know if it's supposed to lock.

A: I don't know if I'd use the work "lock", but once opened it snaps firmly into the open position and it won't close until you want it to. John from ShedRain

A: Looks like you bought one of our manual opening umbrellas. To open, slide handle down, then untie the "tie strap" (the velcro) strip, and simply push up on that round black piece at the base of the shaft. If you'd prefer an umbrella that opens automatically at the push of a button, feel free to return yours to Target or to us and it will be replaced for you. Thank you! John from ShedRain

This is probably one of the best umbrellas I have gotten. Aside from being very well-made, it is tiny and light. It is nice and sturdy and opens with one hand. When closed, it is smaller than my other travel umbrellas and is perfect to carry around.

Great little umbrella! Easily fits in a backpack, purse or diaper bag. Ironically it fits perfectly in the umbrella holder in the door of my Chevrolet Equinox perfectly. I plan on getting a 2nd for our other vehicle.

This is a small (very small) umbrella that is great if you don't have a lot of room to carry an umbrella. It will protect one person - don't try to squeeze two people under it because you will both get wet. This is a good umbrella to throw in your bag when travelling. My cat liked it also because the day I got it, I left it on the floor and she used it as a litter box. I had to throw it away!

This umbrella is such a cute and small size that fits easily in my bag. It’s lightweight and small enough to carry around daily, yet sturdy enough to handle unexpected showers. This umbrella is perfect for on-the-go use. It folds down to a super compact size, making it easy to keep in my purse, and it even fits in my husband‘s shorts pocket while we go for walks in the evening. It is manual open-and-close, small but provides decent coverage to keep you dry during unexpected light to moderate rain.

I just opened up my new super compact ShedRain umbrella. This size is perfect for a backpack. The umbrella locks into place with a simple pin. You press the pin to close the umbrella as well. I like that they fabric is made of recycled material. It also has a lifetime warranty, something I have never seen offered by an umbrella manufacturer.

Great umbrella! So small it can fit in your pocket. Love it. Very easy to use and maintain. You can carry it anywhere and in anything. Very light and has a great spread to keep you dry. Very good quality and material. I love it.

I received these products for free from the Hey, Bullseye™ sampling program in exchange for my honest review. I live in a state where it rains a lot in summer, so an umbrella is a most. I tried out the ShedRain Umbrella, and I have to say that I like my Totes Umbrella more. I have to use more force in opening it. I find it a little more difficult than a regular umbrella. I used it while it was raining outside, and it did give me good protection, and the umbrella seems sturdy. However, I am not sure whether this umbrella is wind-proof.

I absolutely love this! ShedRain mini manual compact umbrella. It's the perfect size to fit in your purse or your car for whenever you may need it. It is on the small side so it's only good for one person but it works great!

This is great umbrella. Its small compact size makes it easier to take with you on the go. Easy to pop in your purse or bag or store in the car. The size makes it easy for children to use as well. Easy to open and close and protects from the rain. J

So little and fits perfectly in a purse or coat pocket! I love this for morning or afternoon duty at the school I work at. It’s also great for shade at my daughter’s soccer games and tournaments. I have used it so many times since I have gotten it and I love how small and compact it is! I need more to have in multiple places!

This umbrella does a great job at protecting us from sun and rain despite the size. I actually really like that’s its a mini because I can put it in my purse or put it in my carry on luggage when traveling. Overall, this umbrella does the job just like any other jug umbrella would.

This umbrella is perfect size for my daughter to keep in her backpack to use when walking to and from the bus. It isnt much bigger then a box of crayons. It fits perfect in her waterbottle pocket. It also weights hardly anything. I am not sure though if it could handle a lot if wind. It is a great umbrella for kids though.

This is a great size to stick in the car, as it can fit in the driver side door pocket. It is also short enough to put inside the center console or the glove compartment - I tested all the spots! I was looking for an umbrella to keep in my car but one that wouldn’t take up too much space.

While I haven’t had the opportunity to use this umbrella in the rain yet I am already happy with it. This umbrella is tiny-it fits in my crossbody purse, tucks into a glove box or something Ben a coat pocket. And it is well made-not a flimsy umbrella.

This mini black ShedRain umbrella is the perfect size for travel- carrying in a purse, backpack or suitcase. However the quality isn’t up to par. It feels cheaply made and like it wouldn’t withstand much wind at all.

The ShedRain Mini Manual Umbrella is great. It’s a standard black color, well made and sturdy. It is very easy to use. Because it is small and compact, it is easy to either take in my purse or for a child to take in their book bag. It would be a great umbrella for everyone in the family.
