SOG® PowerAssist 16-in-1 Multi-Tool with Nylon Pouch, Black Oxide

Wanted to give it some time before reviewing. The quick access to the blades are really nice. The pliers, which are the main reason for getting the SOG, are very usable (probably won’t go back to leatherman for this reason). The other tools are good, the Phillips is long and skinny enough to get down in the recessed holes of electric tool cases, wish it had a couple of regular slotted screw drivers, but that’s not necessary. The down sides, which are not deal breakers, are; the cover for the small tools came off, but I didn’t care for it anyway, the blade lock for the regular knife blade is a little stiff, the river for the sheath came out, but to be honest I might have snagged it on something because I work in a shop environment, I was able to put an aluminum pop rivet in and brad it down. Overall I really like the functionality of the tool. I use these everyday and this one is easily my favorite. Big enough to actually use and the tools I rely on are on it. Good knife with easy one hand access and great pliers that are easy to use.

You don’t realize how much you’re going to use this tool until you start carrying it! I use it every day.

I recently lost my original multi tool. So familiar with this model, had to replace with same. Like an extension of my hand. Part of my EDC.

Bought this a couple years ago and really enjoy the easy one hand access to the pliers. The compound leverage works great. Has help up well and the only issue with mine is the blade locks don't work. I can push on the back of the blades and they overcome the locking mechanis. Still works but wished the locks worked.

I am a Chef; much like foundries, most warranties become void when those items enter a commercial kitchen because of the abuse it will receive. This multi-tool has been in the most demanding environments, from the cloud forests of Central America to castles in Scotland. It has taken a beating repeatedly in hurricane relief efforts and stood the test of time. But sadly, I will be passing it on to my daughter as Ian prep took the knives. So I will be getting a new one.

I have had this tool for several years. unfortunately, the clip to the Nylon Pouch cut our relationship shorter than expected. I used this tool just about everyday for all sorts of tasks. I loved the safety features as well as ease of access. the clip was the downfall. I noticed when attached to draw string shorts (Athletic shorts), when the clip began getting weaker, it would fall off. It had dropped here and there but I would always feel or hear it. I had dropped it once in an area fishing and was able to go back and retrieve hours later. a few months pass and the Pouch with tool fell off again while fishing and someone else picked it up when I realized it was gone later on. this was by far my most useful tool I owned. I was very disappointed this had happened. The tool was still in great shape and had decades of use left. If I purchase again, which Imay get the MT version, I will be getting a different pouch.

Bought this for my son's birthday. I've had one for about 10 years and I'm very happy with it.

The pouch is not as universal as I had hoped. It would be nice if they would revert back to the type of pouch they made back in 2004. In some cases it is nice to be able to weave it into molle gear, wear on a belt upright or run onto a belt lengthwise

I have three of these and everyone of my employees also got one everyone loves the tool and everything inside of it comes in handy a lot

I bought a PowerAccess a few months back. The bit holder's a great idea. However, it's flimsy. It uses half the metal on every blade and the handles, making for an off-balance feel and making you worry about snapping off the blades when you use them. Plus, you can't use the optional attachments (like the awg stripper) with it. I had one of these for years until it got stolen, so glad to have it back. I don't remember the holes in the blade covers, I think it's a great idea for eliminating moisture

I probably use this more than any other knife it is perfect for so many tasks. I’m so happy to find a reliable multi tool. I probably use this at least twice everyday sometimes a lot more for a million reasons. I would recommend this to anyone. Great work tool

Owned this product for over 10 years, just replaced it after having my latest one stolen. Excellent balance, lifeproof construction, and one-handed opening out of the box without any breakin time. I don't know why SOG didn't just put a socket on this model and skip this PowerAccess silliness altogether.

The locks are awkward to use and often lock when they are not desired. The blase lock is much improved but, the release button is very hard to use.

I bought the multi tool for the pliers. The pliers work great.the power assist blades are a plus. I only wish that the other tools were heavier duty. Over all,a well made tool.

Recently purchased, previously had a sog multi-purpose and liked the quality and ruggedness of it.

Best multitool available, by far. In fact, I have three of them, for redundancy and security 1 great thing is that you can change out some of the tools. I added scissors and got rid of the short flat head and the V-cutter. You will need some hex bits and lock tite to accomplish this change. The power assist knives are fantastic. I like having the serrated one for cutting 550 cord, and the plain blade for whittling if needed Only downside of this multitool is that the pivotting tool cover pops off sometimes, and I am afraid I will loose it. Also I lent the tool to some friends and they snapped the tip with misuse. I am hoping that SOG can help me repair the tool with their warranty, but I will report their service another time. Overall fantastic tool, I use it everyday and it holds up well.

Bought this multi-tool to keep in my boat. It’s perfect for that use

Looking at my third Powerassist now, with knife blade past sharpening point. Great tools, and I have tried several times to swap out blades and tools to build the best version for me- wish it were easier! Tool is the best I have found yet for what I do, just hard to replace or customize options with tiny washers and bolts holding it together. Craftsmen, carpenter, and mechanic, it is the best tool I have owned for 15 of the 30 years I have carried, just wish the knife were easier to replace, and the lock mechanism a bit more consistent when you really need to go with your other hand. Post on knife blade works- just gets in the way of sharpening, the takedown button next to the lock slide sometimes opens the blade partially at the wrong time in your hand. All three of the tools lost at least one tool cover along the way making the handles uncomfortable when crimping- plus when you do have them they are hard to open to get at the tools. I often have to pull out all of the tools to select the one I want so they all don't lock open, but the lock works well. Two of the nylon pouches tore in the second year, but velcro has never failed- which is amazing since I use the tool 15-20 times a day easy. All in all worth it, just wish you could snap in replacement blades in a better fashion once they get to the soft steel- also if they has a slightly larger version I would pick one up in a heartbeat for a 4 inch knife and more compound action. Thanks for saving my butt so many times SOG! I folded my 1 gen Leatherman on one of my fingers, found the Gerber clunky and short, have even had some military-style breakdown multitools, but none as good. Look forward to the new model's appearance.

Just happened to pick it up on the fly back in 2011-2012, survived my time as a mortarman and later as a carpenter. Over the years I bought many tools that others said were quality items. Eventually they would all wear out on me, but this one still remains

I have this with me every day since 2012 and am absolutely satisfied with its qual5and ability. Not a day goes by that it is not used!
