Sony HT-A9M2 BRAVIA Theater Quad Surround Speakers with Dolby Atmos

I tried multiple times to do the software update. It is so slow (only up to 1% in half hour) that I canceled it. I am updating over the same WiFi Network that streams the video stream to my TV so, I don't think the network is the problem. I tried multiple times to run "Optimize". I always returns: could not determine distance to speakers. Since my rear speakers are wall mounted beside some cabinets, my furniture configuration could be the problem. However, I would expect a distance determining utility would be able to accomidate that.

I bought this system a few months ago and have been very happy with the sound immersion I get from it. The setup was really easy, especially if you have a Sony TV. The HDMI input has been very useful if you have an old TV without eARC. I do feel that dialogue clarity can be improved when not using voice mode. Dialogues were much more clear in my previous Sonos soundbar. I am not using center sync. One feature request I have is to add Tidal Connect support to the device for spatial audio (Dolby Atmos) music streaming. While Apple Airplay is great, not everyone has an iPhone. At least this system supports the LDAC protocol for Bluetooth, so Bluetooth is not that bad, but it won't support Dolby Atmos. For high quality and spatial music, Tidal Connect would be ideal. Another enhancement could be to output more information on the audio received. For example, "Dolby Atmos" does not currently say whether it is TrueHD or EAC-3. DTS does however say whether it is HD or not. Likewise, Bluetooth, Airplay, etc. also don't say much on the bitrate, etc. of the signal being received.

It immerses you into your media and the app allows to extract more audio from any source, even Netflix, HBO, etc. I was able to easily connect the system together and manage it all on the app. The Bluetooth connection and Spotify works well. The clarity in the sound is amazing.

There were a few things floating around inside the box, but overall, everything was presented in a way that made the entire set up process so seamless and easy, along with ensuring the speakers are protected during transit. I was a little concerned that the paper instructions were so brief, but the app used to sync the speakers was pretty easy to use and I liked that it guided you through the entire process from start to finish. I don't usually enjoy having to download a new app or create an account for every little piece of technology I own, but the extra controls in the app made it worth it. We decided not to mount them to the walls for now, opting to just stand them on their base, so installation was done in about 30 minutes. We've already had our first movie night using these speakers and the sound was extremely high quality and definitely improved our overall experience. It almost felt like we were in a movie theater, but within the comforts of our own home. And listening to music on these speakers is out of this world! My toddler has been asking for dance parties every day since we installed these speakers. Overall, we are very happy with the quality and ease of use of the speakers. They blend in pretty nicely with the rest of the decor in our living room, so they're not a distraction, but still provide a top notch sound quality. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a surround sound system.

It is the perfect flexible solution for my home because we didn’t have speakers installed and were seeking an impressive audio experience without all the hassle and install needs. They’ve created beautiful and graceful standalone speakers that can float on stands or mount on the wall with a subtle grey fabric covering and sleek metal top. This let us put two on our entertainment console and two flanking our couch for a convenient immersive experience. I love the intelligence of this product to calibrate the sound to my space, and that it supports Dolby Atmos, IMAX Enhanced, and DTS:X formats. I love the adjustability and pairing compatibility with my devices. I was a little skeptical of how these would ship to me direct, but the packaging is amazing. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Sony Bravia Theatre Quad is a beautiful well made home theatre system. Upon opening the box and removing contents, you feel the quality of how well each item was made. The 4 speakers look sleek and are a good substantial weight, so no worries about them tipping over. I opted to place them free standing in 4 corner areas of the room. Setup did take some time. I downloaded the app on my phone and then connected all the speakers via Bluetooth. Although I do not have a Sony brand tv, I was still able to connect it with my smart tv. They were then easily controlled from my phone or the remote control. I did some sound testing via the app as instructed. The app also offers additional settings, such as adjusting the subwoofer and rear speakers' volume, enabling dialogue mode, surround and night modes. I really like how the system looks in my space. I hear depths and variations of the sounds, background noise, and voices thru the speakers like we’re enveloped by them, immersed in the action of the movie we are watching. The reason I gave it 4 out of 5 stars is due to the hefty price tag.

Then I realized there are 4 speakers inside each of the 4 bigger speakers which gives the 16! Definitely easier to put 4 speakers around the house than 16! So this was a pretty amazing product to be able to receive and review! Whenever I read reviews from people who got to test a product I’m considering buying that’s pricey, I’m always like how?? Sony is a great and reputable brand that makes quality products. Customer service is great too as they make products they believe in. All my speakers arrived in brand new condition and were easy to assemble and put together. If you want to amplify your living space, this will take you to that next level. We upgraded to a really large tv a couple years ago and got a sound bar. Although our soundbar wasn’t cheap, I don’t feel like it made a huge difference overall. With these external speakers, it really takes you to that next level of sound and quality movie theater experience!

It was a bit of a hassle having to download the app/create login but the setup was fairly simpler after that. The app easily located speakers via Bluetooth and synced up after few tries. We are interested in purchasing the subwoofer/bass that goes with this for more of a theater like sound effect in the near future. Speakers look very sleek! It hasn’t replaced our current beloved soundbar but hoping once we get the bass setup, we will primarily use as our only surround sound. Would recommend anyone looking for modern looking, clear sounding speakers to try out

However for someone who isn’t tech savvy it might be hard for them to install since you must have the app. We do have an issue with one speaker always being louder than the others. I personally love how easy it is to switch between using the whole system with the TV to using it with Bluetooth. We love music, so we use these speakers a lot for listening to music. The sound quality seems great; however, one speaker does almost sound like it could be blown. Although one speaker sounds off, every song we play sounds amazing and I can’t help but wonder how much better it would sound if the fourth speaker functioned the way it should. I’m not sure if maybe we received a damaged speaker. Also you need to have a 110 outlet per speaker if you wish to hide the cables, which we are in the process of doing.

We have been using this nonstop for movie nights and even when casting music or medication sounds from our phones. Definitely worth the price if you are looking to upgrade your home and cast movies/music often.

The set up will cost you some time, but it is what needed for a home movie theater. The design is simple, yet sleek, so I works well with your house interior. There are 4 bars in total and I placed it around my room. It is wireless connect, but there’s also wired as well, so esthetically It will create that modern look in your house. The price is a little high, but definitely worth every penny, especially less and less people are going out to movies. Sound system are comparable to the AMC Dolby.

Husband had no problems setting it up within few minutes and Sony app was simple to use as well. The 360 Sound quality was amazing for watching movies! Only con is the wires do require some work to hide if you decide to mount them to the wall like we did.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Bravia Theatre Quad is a superb home theatre system. This was my first time setting up a system such as this and it really was very easy with my Bravia TV. The speakers all have their designated positions marked on them for you, for example 'Front R', (see photo), so you can place them in their correct positions straight away. Please note Front and Back speakers means from the perspective of looking at your TV. Each speaker comes with quite a generous length power cable too which helps when positioning them in your room. I currently have the back ones set up on tables behind the couch and the front ones are either side of the TV on its stand. Due to the dimensions of the room though I will be wall mounting them very soon, which also seems to be a simple process. The system controller box that comes with the speakers is quite small and unobtrusive. It connects to your TV's eArc / ARC HDMI input and you can also make your TV the centre speaker by using the S-Center connection on the back of the controller box and connecting it to your TV with the supplied cable. The great thing about connecting the speakers to the box is that it is all done wirelessly via Bluetooth. In order to set the Theatre Quad system up you have to use the Bravia Connect app on your mobile phone. Again, this really is a very simple process. The app guides you through each step for sound optimization by identifying your speaker positions. It also uses your mobile phone to identify your viewing position and optimises the sound field to that position. On completion of setup you are then given a demonstration of the 360 spatial sound mapping in a jungle setting which was genuinely amazing! (360 Spatial Sound Mapping technology creates up to 12 phantom speakers around the room, enabling cinema-style surround sound with just four physical speakers.) The Theatre Quad system does come with a small remote control, however you can alter the sound settings and levels etc. using the app or your TV remote too. The sound quality is excellent, although some may want to upgrade the system by purchasing a separate subwoofer such as the wireless SA-SW3 or SA-SW5 as the Theatre Quad package doesn't include one. Regarding music, the system has built in support for Spotify Connect and Apple AirPlay and can be used as a music system on its own. For any gamers out there, the immersive sound you feel when you connect your PS5 to it is superb. I'm really impressed by the Bravia Theatre Quad system. The build quality is great as are the aesthetics of the system and the sound quality is fantastic.
