Earphones vs Headphones

Bought these for my bf for Christmas and he loves them!! I sit at a desk all day so I own the xm4 headphones but my bf is always on the move so these earphones are perfect as they stay in place all day and do not fall out. He says the sound quality is great and I can confirm this man cannot hear a word I say with the noise cancelling. Def recommend for someone who wants them for running, exercising, or looking to tune out their significant other.

Outstanding Sound But Not Secure

I recently purchased these to use while working out at the gym. I bought the silver color which is actually more of a taupe color and looks great. The sound is outstanding and the earbuds look upscale. However, I could not get a good fit with any of the supplied earbud tips (might just be the shape of my ears, I don't know). As a result, I could never achieve the promised noise cancellation and the earbuds frequently slipped out of my ears. I would give these 5 stars for sound quality and finish, but in my case only 1 star for good fit (hence the overall 3 star rating). Also, the Sony app seemed somewhat cumbersome when pairing the buds to my phone. I also don't know how well the foam tips hold up compared to the silicone tips that most earbuds seem to have. I'm sorry to say that I had to return these and will try another brand. Hopefully your fit will be better because the sound quality really is exceptional. Top rated earbuds per Consumer Reports.

Not noise cancelling. They really suck at noise cancelling.. like others have said I too have to turn the volume up really high for these to cancel out noise.. the previous version of this is much better. I had the wf1000XM4, and those are absolutely amazing, and unfortunately mine broke so I got these. And they suck

These headphones are not worth the money. They have poor connectivity - they often don't automatically connect to my phone when I take them out of the case, or one connects and the other doesn't, or my phone stays connected to them after I put them in the case. They are uncomfortable when worn for long periods of time, and don't stay put. Lastly, their noise cancellation is terrible, and pales in comparison to Google Buds Pro and Bose QC Ultra.

These headphones are my favorite by far. The sound quality is excellent and can be adjusted to your preferences. They fit so comfortably in my ears that I sometimes forget I'm wearing them. The battery life is also exceptional. I'm used to a 4-hour battery life, but these headphones can last up to 8 hours before needing to be charged in the case again.

I own a pair of Sony headphones that I like a lot, and decided it was time to upgrade my old earbuds. I bought these, and was excited to use them on a 5 hour flight, because the noise canceling was so highly rated. What a disappointment! The plane engine noise was barely blocked at all. I had to jack up the volume to hear the sound from my laptop and phone. I tried different tips, and making sure the ANC was at the highest level. Just awful. I had an old pair of wired Bose earbuds that I used instead, and they were so much better! I could use them without the volume high. They sometimes only work in one ear, but they cut out so much more engine noise than the Sonys. Will check out the Bose Ultras soon, i suppose.

They disconnect all the time and noise cancelling is not good. Airpods are 100x better.

My main problem with these earbuds is the in ear experience. These come with foam tips that are in my opinion pretty bad. They show ear wax really badly, end up sliding out of the ear ( don't grab), and are too big for my ear canals. I am going to have to find some silicone ear buds to adapt to these. For a $300 set of ear buds I expect more. They do sound nice so that is good, but I find myself not wanting to wear them. The foam tips look gross, they don't fit, and they come out of my ear. All of these areas are fundamental in my opinion, and should be a given when spending $300.

They're kinda big and clunky looking, the case feels flimsy, and the ANC is the worst I've ever tried by a mile. They didn't fit well with any of the provided tips, so Sony sent me a pack of silicone tips that fit fine but defeat some of the noise exclusion and they don't have anything blocking debris from entering the earbud. They sound great, pair easily, and stay connected though. Case charges wirelessly which was a nice surprise. These are good for slightly better sound quality than competition & that's about it imo, they don't do anything else better than any other high price set. These should cost about a third of what they do & they should not advertise ANC because the ANC is worthless.

I'm trying to find a replacement for my AirPod Pros because they've become buggy and I don't like them enough to drop the money to buy another pair. These earbuds are NOT it. Immediately upon putting them in my ears, I knew the fit just wasn't going to work with me. The tips are a weird foamy material and just don't particularly make sense. On top of that, music sounds tinny and odd and very low-quality. Nowhere near the AirPods. Potentially worst of all, the noise cancelling it subpar at absolute best. If I'm honest, I can BARELY tell the difference between noise cancelling being on and it being off. Not AT ALL worth nearly $300.

I really wanted to like these. After all the great reviews I read on various sites, I expected a lot more but these are just substandard. The foam ear tips don’t want to stay in your ears. The app that Sony has doesn’t actually allow you to customize the sound and it’s just not good. Unless you have both earbuds in there’s white noise coming through like it’s trying to compensate for not having both of them. And the “noise cancellation” is nonexistent. I can hear everything around me with music or a podcast playing. These are just ridiculous. If I had all of the packaging, I’d return them and get something better.

Having previously owned the previous generation (1000XM4) I kind of knew what to expect with these. I was pleasantly surprised to see, however, that they have managed to improve on an already great set of noise cancelling earbuds. The XM5 model features smaller and lighter earbuds than the previous generation, as well as a slightly smaller case. Sound quality remains excellent, although testing the XM4 and XM5 side by side gives the impression that perhaps Sony cut back just a smidgeon on the low end in the newer model. That's not to say it's necessarily a bad thing unless you like loud thumping bass. Overall the tone is more neutral and even across the spectrum, with none of the harshness on the high end that is typical of lower cost true wireless earbuds. Noise cancellation is excellent but still not quite to class-leading. You'll want well fitting over the ear headphones for that. The box includes four earbud tips in total: extra small, small, medium (on the earbuds right out of the box) and large. I found the large to give me the best fit and noise isolation of all the choices, although they're less comfortable that the mediums due to the tight fit necessary to really get the most out of the canceling effect. Battery life of the earbuds seems improved over the previous generation; listening for about 3 hours yeilds around 70% remaining battery with LDAC (highest quality audio) and full noise cancelling enabled. The charging case looks to be able to charge 2-3 times from near-dead before it needs recharging. If there's one demerit, it's that these earbuds are slick plastic and easy to drop. I had a pretty hard time getting the XM4's out of their case, and they had a matte finish that was easier to grip. The glossy finish on these is even more slick and difficult to hang on to! It's also really easy to repeatedly hit the action buttons while putting the earbuds in, going into and out of noise cancellation (left earbud) and starting and stopping my music (right earbud). Other than that, however, it's been a stellar experience.

Item was left in front of a door without a signature at the wrong house when I was all day Sunday at home expecting the package for a Birthday present for my Father. I called Target customer service and after being on hold several long times the rep tells me they will get back to me with a resolution in 5 to 7 days. This is unacceptable. Bad system @ Target.

These Sony earbuds are very good when it comes to noise cancelling and sound. They're compact and you barely feel them in your pockets. Some people say their ears get fatigued from wearing them for a long time, but my ears don't. I do wish Sony could've at least added a protective case for the earbuds.
