I’d rather give a negative review! This box had been opened and resealed shut! No gloves or instructions in the box. The dye was horrible, it dyed my scalp and not my hair. I’ve dyed my hair for so many years I don’t read instructions anymore, Iuckily I had gloves. Seller obviously doesn’t check returns. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS SELLER OR PRODUCT! My roots are still blonde, my scalp is splotchy orange! 😡😡

BUYER BEWARE! I would give this negative stars if I could! My daughter and I used this on her virgin hair on May 4, 2024. On August 27, 2024 I decided to let her get highlights put into her hair for the first time. As it had been 4 months since she used Splat, there were no more remnants of the Ruby color since it claims to last “up to 30 washes.” LIE! Somewhere, this stuff was still lingering in her hair and as the bleach was on her head, it turned HOT PINK! Four hours in the salon, three rounds of toner, and a lot of money later, and her hair still has pink in it. She is devastated and the company has yet to respond to me.

Direct dyes do not require oxidation or developer for the color to stain the hair. In areas where the hair is more porous, this type of color will show greater intensity. Caution must be exercised when utilizing a semi-permanent hair color on porous hair; it can stain the hair permanently. Sometimes, using strong bleaches will make the direct dye go further into the hair shaft and lodge even more stubbornly inside the hair. There are ways to strategically fade or remove the direct dye from the hair. Thanks for sharing with us!

One of the worst hair dye I have used! It has stained everything, my skin, MY SCALP ( I didn't rub it in! ) clothes and didn't fully wash off after 30 minutes rinsing it off! Worst product ever! Please don't buy! I'm literally crying this is so bad!!

It got EVERYWHERE! I boughtg2 bottles. The first one was fine, but the second one came open. It exploded in the box. It stained my white door, tub, floor, countertop, mirror, skin, toilet. It is too messy. I will not be re purchasing.

This stuff gets all over the place and is a mess!!! Stains everything! I had to use an SOS pad to scrub my tub and sink!!!! And hard to remove from the skin even with alcohol! I do not recommend! There’s better dyes out there with better outcomes!!!

I used the midnight ruby, I was surprised it took the color in very well, my hair doesn’t feel as dry just yet. It does brings a good amount, my only problem is that it stain literally everything my bathroom sink Omg don’t even want to look at it right now, and is hard to come off. I did also heard the color is even hard to come off the hair, so I won’t recommend to anybody who is constantly changing color. I let my hair air dry in this pic looks kind of damaged but it is actually not.

Lovely on dark hair

Love the color on my dark brown hair! It came out kind of maroon and my white hair looks magenta. Things to keep in mind with bright artificial color box dyes: they will stain! Make sure to cover your space properly and wear clothes you don’t care about, use Vaseline to protect your face and neck and any other skin the dye may come into contact with, and rinse your hair in something you don’t care if it gets stained (i used the laundry tub). Even after your dye has set, anytime your hair gets wet, it will stain (skin, pillow, tub) although less than initially. For me the color is worth the hassle and bonus points for not needing to bleach my dark hair :)

i put this on top of my fading pink hair (shown in pic and yea it’s bleached underneath the pink as well) and it worked beautifully!! if your hair feels dry on the ends afterwards just use a protein bonding treatment (olaplex dupe on amazon) mixed with a color sealer treatment (ion brand) !!! it helps with the color lasting longer/less bleeding in the shower and i do that x2 a week my hair feels soooo soft afterwards… i used Tilex to get the stains out of the bathtub too 😅

This will never come out of your hair. 5 months later and 4 home attempts, just spent 8 hours and $1000 at the salon and there is still a green tinge to her blonde hair. Just don’t! The stylist said “was this Splat” as soon as she saw it. It’s apparently well known how destructive it is.
