Summary of reviews
The St. Tropez self-tanner offers a deep, natural-looking tan that is particularly suited for those with pale or olive skin tones. It provides a long-lasting color that fades evenly, making it a favorite among experienced self-tanners. However, the application process can be challenging due to its quick-drying and sticky nature, requiring careful blending and skin preparation. Despite these challenges, many guests appreciate the beautiful color payoff and longevity.

This product has a beautiful color once you have showered. I think it's the 1st I've used with no bad smell and I've tried them all!! Pre-tan regime is a must. It's very intimidating at first because the color is extremely dark when applied. It does dry very fast, so work in sections. I don't recommend this for anyone who isn't a pro at self tanning. Coco&Eve would be a better selection for a rookie self Tanner. I do think this has the most natural color but it does take eight hours to process so keep that in mind. It does transfer onto clothes, sheets, etc. but it will easily wash off.
Poor color and patchy

The entire goal of the product is for the purple to cancel out the orange tones, however, this one is the orangest tan ive ever had. The application is extremely dark due to the bronzer but when you wash off the muddy color, there is nothing but orange tones.
It's Great but has a learning curve

I had been using Pradas Glow in Miami prior to this, also purple/grey based and fantastic, but it's more expensive and only available online. I figured this could be a great alternative because St. Tropez is great but the other ones were always too orange on my skintone. This develops into the most beautiful, natural looking olive toned tan that as an olive-skin tone girlie I usually only see by mid summer. The downside to this product is it does have a learning curve to it. The product is much more runny than other mousses, which I initially thought would be a bad thing, actually means you use less product. The KEY to using the product is swiping then buffing. You'll need about half the pumps you normally do per area and then swipe it on, and buff, quickly. It does dry to pretty quickly but it's not crazy fast like some other ones I'd used and putting a little more on reactives the color guard and allows a little more play. By swiping and then buffing, there's no streaks.

Delayed reaction resulting in weird acne like itchy hive rash all over my face neck upper back and shoulder area. I wasnt sure if it was this product because i didnt apply to my face but the second time i used it the same delayed reaction happened but even worse the second time and so much worse on my face because i put it on before bed and i slept on my arm so it transferred to face. Patch testing would not even work, this took hours to see a reaction. Unfortunate because I actually liked this product because it dries quickly. Second time i did get weird streaky patchy areas but i used alot more product second time. Also probably why the reaction was even worse the second time. I am currently typing this as i sit here with rash. I have to take Benadryl every night to get relief.
Returned. Worst tanner I've used.

I am a seasoned self tanner of 10 years. I have tried sooo many different ones and this one takes the cake as the worst. I used it twice before returning thinking maybe the 1st time I just wasn't on my A game..nope. The application is difficult- it dries and leaves over lap lines before you can blend it out. The smell is TERRIBLE, even after a rinse shower you will stink. The color fades streaky and patchy and on my skin tone (pale) it ended up making me look greenish grey even post rinse. I also felt sticky for HOURS and I never have that issue. This tan sucks. Glad I can return it and go back to Coco and Eve. Can't wait for this bad tan to fade off and get scrubbed off.

I put this on and it dried so fast I couldn't blend it out no matter how hard I tried, now I'm stuck with streaks down my arms and legs. I also don't like the fact that this has red 40. There is so many better self tans that blend easy and have safe ingredients

I have never wrote a review before, thats how crucial I felt this was. I've been self tanning for 15 years and this is one of the worst I've ever tried. It leaves the skin a dingy, grey tone. I could care less about the scent or stickiness or a tanner, I just want a nice, natural toned tan! St Tropez please bring back the 'deep dark tan' formula. This was an instant return :/

Best self tanner ever! If you moisturize before applying you get a perfect tan! It is scary looking with the color guard but rinses perfectly! Great color, no orange. A little goes a long way.
bad batch?

maybe i just got a bad batch because i think this is the worst self tanner i have ever used. i'm a veteran tanner (10+ years self tanning) so i know how to prep my skin extremely well. even with exfoliating super well, this tan is so streaky. you have to blend forever and even so it will be streaky and uneven. the foam is like seudo-foam liquid which makes me wonder if i just got a bad batch or something. the color payoff is good. it's very dark and does give a deep, olive tan as advertised. however, i do think it goes a bit gray while fading. it does not fade seamlessly either. it fades splotchy. i don't have these issues with any other go-to self tanners and it seems like most people love it, so maybe i just got a bad batch. 2 stars for color payoff and tone, but other than that i am super disappointed in this product.

This product has a great color to it, and it does dry quick. With that being said it was very hard to do the typical rub in. It comes out almost black from the bottle. I was shocked at how dark it was however when it dries on your skin it lightens up. My biggest issue is that for this particular product how too quick it dries it looks splotchy.

This tan is definitely for more experienced tanners. It will be splotchy and crazy if you don't exfoliate, shave, and mosturize 12-24 hrs before applying. If you prep your skin properly the tan will come out even and smooth! It lasts about 2 weeks for me with proper care afterwards.

I knew something was wrong when I realized my palm was immediately STAINED dark brown and even a loofah couldn't get it off. I can't get it to rub into my skin evenly no matter what I do and it pilled beneath my fingers immediately. I don't know how I can show my face (literally) at the office tomorrow morning. This is humiliating.

This is not for beginners like others have said! It does dry fast and streak easy if you aren't working quickly! The color is beautiful and it actually gives me a dark tan! My hubby bought this one for me by mistake. I typically use loving tan and almost returned this one but figured I'd give it a try. It did streak on my first application…I didn't realize how fast I needed to move with it befor it started drying. 🤣🤦♀️ Make sure you are well exfoliated & moisturized prior! Use a good tanning mitt & be prepared to move quickly and u will have a beautiful tan!

Ive used very many self tanners over the years and would not consider myself a beginner. This tanner was very difficult to blend and leaves bad streaks. The color is nice but not worth the payoff. Areas such as the inner elbows and armpits turned oddly gray? I will use until the bottle is gone but would not repurchase. Also, note that the guide color is VERY concerning but it does wash off lol
