Bought this as a replacement camera for an existing NVR system. Overall, a well built and good quality camera. Mobile app and PC software can sometimes be a little buggy and could do with bit more polish but still very usable nonetheless. After sales online support could do with some improverment as well. More suited to those who know what they're doing than a novice.

Decent cameras , was hoping for better , clearer images for 4k , these cameras are under the eaves of my house and still managed to get moisture behind the lens, so much for being waterproof in snow, ice or rain. Called technical assist, no help, no offer to replace. Had to buy 2 replacement cameras that took on moisture only 3 years old. Not good quality , no wonder they only warranty for 12 months!

I bought a the 4K Thermal Sensing spotlight bullet IP security system 5 years ago and recently order 2 additional camera to add on. I really enjoy the features of spotlight, thermal sensing and speaker functions which give me peace of mind when I'm away from home, to monitoring and talking to my pets. The cameras also provide very clear HD images and videos when I use "Play back" function. Swann customer services are exceptional, regardless online support, customer services or technical services phone lines. They always answer my enquiries in a timely manner, when the time they couldn't answer they would transfer me to the appropriate team to get the matter resolved. The cameras, when they are working are excellent; very high resolution, good dynamic range, very good night vision. But of the 10 that came with my system, 3 malfunctioned (all replaced under warranty). I disassembled one of the failing units and discovered that it was a workmanship issue during assembly: a cable was nicked and the wires inside were severed.

Firmware updates need attention.

** NOTE FOR SWANN TECH ** I have just updated the firmware on 4 of my cameras. Previous firmware version was V14.45.5.0_210903 This had a bug with the siren which started loud and after a second went very quite. The new recent firmware has fixed that issue. But unfortunately it's introduced another issue. The current and latest firmware is V14.45.5.0_220713 This new firmware has stopped the date and time being shown on the stream. So both live stream and playback recordings no longer show the timestamp. No matter what settings you select it will no longer show the time on the video stream. (Tried rebooting and all the usual resetting etc but nothing works) The option is there and has the relevant tick so should be showing the timestamp and date. But they just don't show anything. It's quite an important feature, especially when providing video as evidence for police etc. Please fix this Swann TECH in your next firmware update because it's certainly isn't working at the moment (when connected to my NVR8-8780 with latest FW)

Had these for a while, while ok, the systems stops working which means they aren't reliable which is why i brought them, even after a factory reset on the cameras still nothing, quick search for help and support brings up nothing. if swann cant make reliable products they will be left in the dust of other products with more reliable hardware, feel free to contact me with a solution swann

Not suited for outdoor use regardless of what the manufacturer says

I bought these cameras as part of a complete 8 camera system. I have four mounted outdoors and the other four inside. After 1.5 years of use the outdoor mounted cameras not have condensation and water droplets inside camera making the video feed foggy and useless. the indoor cameras are working just fine. I cant believe after just one year these cameras cannot stand up to normal weather.

I bought an NVR system with 4 of these bullet cameras for usage on paranormal investigations. This means my whole setup, including the cameras move around a lot and these cameras are incredibly durable and easy to set up. Flashlight and siren features work well for catching our attention when one of the cameras senses movement. 4K resolution and powerful infrared night vision work perfectly in all environments, indoor and out. I have plans to double my camera arsenal in the future with these 4K bullet cameras. The only thing I'm not satisfied with is that the cameras cannot be mounted to any tripods.

Simple to use

After purchasing the cameras I just had the theminstalled by Townsville Titan Security (highly recommend them). I have set them up in the order I want them and running through the target areas now to limit false alarms. Very simple to use I haven't even looked at the user manual yet. I just press a n area to see what it is and have a play. It is that simple. Only issue is the wires to the cameras one was broken so if i was installing it myself it would have been a pain but Amedeos just made up a cable. Then said I'll just use our thicker cabling because it's better quality. Only used 3 original cables because that's how many they ran before finding the broken one. Cables are packed tight and it had a kink and broke at that point. If installing yourself be aware of this issue. My only complaint so far.

Do your research before buying

These cameras are not suited to general application outdoors and need to be specially placed to avoid false detections. Bought this camera in a pack of 4 with the NVR 8580. Turned on the motion and PIR (Heat Detection) feature and received multiple false alerts (over 10 - 15) per day. I read the manual, adjusted the settings so the motion area was only a thin line of squares at the entrance to my patio. Still had issues. Spoke to support and they mentioned that the area of detection for PIR is the whole camera and can't be reduced or targeted like motion detection, thus the false alerts. So I switched off the PIR function and just setup motion detection, then my push notifications stopped working. I have now found out that push notifications disappear in the menu when only motion detection is enabled????? Why remove that function when Motion only is selected but have it available for Heat and Motion?? that makes no sense. So I now have a product that can't send push notifications when it is set to only motion detection (and detects correctly) OR will give me hundreds of false push notifications when PIR is enabled. I also tried to use other features like Perimeter Detection and Line Crossing only to find an error message saying my IPC wasn't compatible. Spoke to Swann and they said those were basic features and my cameras only supported Advanced features?? How can a camera not support the basic features? Swann I would suggest you spend less time spreading all your features across multiple versions of the cameras and just invest in creating a strong, reliable product that can deliver as advertised. I chose Swann because of the brand but after seeing my friends non-Swann cameras working without these hassles, I think that I have made an expensive mistake.
