Kenzie has worked harder than any of the guys on the SWAT team, yet they are not accepting her. One of the men on the team, Butler, doesn't hide his feelings at all. He has made it clear that the job should have gone to someone better, his friend. In the midst of all this, someone has started trying to hurt, or kill, Kenzie. Could Butler be so upset with her on the team, that he is trying to get rid of her, and make room for his friend? Or is it someone else? Her dad has just revealed that the car crash that killed her mom, and left him disabled, was not an accident. Perhaps the person behind that is now after Kenzie. Maybe a second person caused the accident, and there are now two people after her. Red herrings and the dual time story muddy the waters when attempting to figure out the bad guy. All the action, twists, and turns will keep you guessing the identity of the culprit, and hooked to the tale. Faith is referred to by some of the characters in this clean, fast-moving story. Fans of thrillers and mysteries will enjoy this five-star book. Get this tale, and join Kenzie as she runs for her life! Thank you, Revell Books, for providing Tickmenot with a book to review. With a thrilling, fast-paced plot wrapped around a story of hope and fighting for justice, Eason has another winner. Cole captured my heart right off, with his protective instincts that he used on behalf of Kenzie, but never to smother her or detract from/undercut her capabilities. Kenzie took a little longer for me to like, as she’s a tough-girl heroine and a bit independent, but once I understood why she forced herself to fit that mold, I liked her just as much. As the story continues, and you see their hearts for each other, their teammates, and their friend group, you can’t help but root for them as they race to find the killer. When combined with the snippets from the past, you have a story you don’t want to put down.

The Lake City heroes are back in this second book in the series and this one explodes on the scene with non-stop action and a pace that is like a race car that is holding on to first place. Kenzie King is the newest member of the SWAT team and she is feisty and courageous, holding her own against the members of the team who seem to not want her there. Unfortunately, there is another threat, an unknown attacker who would just as soon kill her to get her off the team. Cole Garrison, her team leader, wants Kenzie safe but he is stymied about how to do that and keep the rest of the team safe too. The danger and suspense continue to ratchet up all the way until the surprising revelation of the perpetrator. I followed the clues and did my best to guess who was making the attempts on Kenzie’s life, but I didn’t guess right until the very end with a great clue that those paying attention will definitely catch. Filled with the author’s signature twists and intense suspense, this book is one not to miss that kept me turning pages and totally engaged in the story. With a brilliant twist at the time of revelation, this well-crafted book is intriguing as well as balancing faith with heroism. The characters all have complicated personalities that mesh well with the plot and they are realistically flawed. This is a satisfying and captivating romantic suspense that I recommend you plan to enjoy in one sitting because it will be impossible to put down. Detective Cole Garrison has known Kenzie since they were kids, but now that he’s her supervisor on the SWAT team, he finds it difficult to know when to stand up for her and when to treat her just like any of the other guys. When someone begins attacking the team and specifically Kenzie, Cole begins to realize his true feelings for Kenzie and decides to do whatever it takes to protect her.🏥 Target Acquired is the second book in Lynette Eason’s Lake City Heroes series, and the action starts on page one and never stops. This story is rife with suspense and mystery, and it focuses a lot on how past relationships can affect your present ones. Not only do Cole and Kenzie’s past familial and romantic relationships affect how they relate to each other and their team, but this book also gives you a glimpse into their grandmothers’ pasts and how that is affecting their current predicament. New SWAT team member Kenzie King finds herself the target of a killer and Cole Garrison becomes her protector in this contemporary story that's set in Lake City, North Carolina. There is, however, a satisfying historical element as author Lynette Eason shares entries from a journal written almost a century before by Cole's grandmother, Eliza Crane. Who would imagine that a tragic event from 1947 would be such a relevant part of Kelsey and Cole's current story? I loved Target Acquired! I loved the surprising connection between Kenzie and Cole that reached back through two generations and the twists, turns, and non-stop action that kept me turning the pages. My heart was captured by the swoon-worthy attraction between Kenzie and Cole and my detective skills were tested by some clever revelations! Throw in an inspiring faith element and the result is a captivating read for fans of romantic Christian suspense! I received a copy from the author and publisher. There was no obligation for a positive review.

Kenzie King is the newest member of the SWAT team as a medic. She is the only female member, and some of the team members are not happy with her presence. Someone wants Kenzie off of the team permanently, and it seems they will stop at nothing to not only remove her from the team but take her life as well. Now the team must pull together and work as a team to stop a killer. Cole Garrison is the SWAT team leader, and in the beginning he is Kenzie's only cheerleader. He does have feelings for Kenzie, but he also believes in her abilities and believes she has earned her spot on the team just like everyone else. There is plenty of action and intrigue as is fully expected in the Lake City Heroes series. The characters are strong-willed and heroic. I fell into this book head first and didn't come up for air until I read the final page. This is Christian romantic suspense at its finest. Thank you to Revell, the author and NetGalley for this ARC. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

I love this 2nd book in the Lake City Heroes series! It does have a little bit of split-time going on in this story, which I was not expecting... but thankfully, not a lot of the historical part, and both stories are good. I like both of the main characters, Kenzie and Cole, and the split-time part is about their ancestors. You will recognize some of the characters from the first book, if you have read it! If you like romantic suspense, I think you will enjoy this book! Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the advance e-copy of this book! All opinions expressed are entirely my own.

Target Acquired is a good, contemporary who-done-it read. While it is a dual timeline story, the focus is definitely on the members of the SWAT team in the contemporary setting. The importance of the 1940s story is not readily apparent until the contemporary storyline has been developed. As I read, there were times I almost felt startled when the attention returned to 1947, having momentarily forgotten it was even connected. While Target Acquired could be classified as romantic suspense, the romance part is more of a what-if rather than a sizzling story component. While it is also considered Christian fiction, it mostly depicts Christians living a wholesome lifestyle, with the majority of references to God or Jesus being included in intercessory prayers for help and statements of gratitude for God’s intervention. There are no overarching Christian themes that I could identify. That said, it is an engaging, entertaining story that held my interest. I feel comfortable recommending this book and am grateful to have received a complimentary copy from Revell via NetGalley without obligation. All opinions expressed here are my own.

Another great book from Lynette Eason! If you enjoy suspense with a little romance too, you will enjoy this book. Target Acquired is the 2nd book in the Lake City Heroes Series but stands alone as well so you don't have to have read the first book. (Although it is likely you will want to). Kenzie King's hard work to has gotten her to her dream job as a medic for the SWAT team finds herself in a struggle to accepted as an equal team member on the all male team. That becomes even more complicated when she finds herself the target of a killer that puts not only her, but the whole team in danger. One of the things that I love about Lynette's books is the character development. They are real people with real struggles, real emotions, real relationships. People that I feel like I could be friends with. I loved the dual storyline in this book and how the story of Kenzie and Cole's grandparents weaves into their present lives. If you are like me, it's a hard to put down until you are finished, kind of book and you will enjoy every minute. I was able to read a pre-release copy of this book as part of the launch team. I was not asked to provide a good review, this is my honest thoughts and impressions about Target Acquired.

Kenzie King's dream come true, she's on the SWAT team, the only female member. Cole Garrison the SWAT team leader is attracted to her but trying to keep a professional distance. When someone targets her and attempts are made on her life he goes into protective mode. A very high paced, adrenaline rush, action packed, suspenseful story. Full of family drama, faith, humor, friendships and a team that pulls together and supports each other.

Target Aquired is a page turner filled with breath holding moments. Kenzie has joined the squad team as a tactical medic and while it is her dream job, someone is targeting the team and it appears that she is the focus. Kenzie and Cole go on a wild ride as they try to figure out who is targeting them and at the same time try not to show their feelings for one another. It’s terrific! You won’t want to miss this second book in the series.

Target Acquired, book 2 in the Lake City Heroes series is another great read by Lynette Eason! Kenzie King is not only an ER doctor, but she has gotten a spot on the SWAT team! However, not everyone is happy about this. How far will someone go to get rid of her and will she be able to stay safe? If you enjoy a good suspense story with some love thrown in, then you need to read this book! I didn’t want to put the book down and I was on the edge of my seat the entire time! I received an ARC from the publisher with no requirements to write a positive review!

An action packed thriller full of suspense, drama, and unexpected twists for this second book in the Lake City Heroes series! It has similarities to a time-slip as you are given glimpses of life in the 1940’s for both Kenzie King and Cole Garrison’s grandparents whose stories are the main focus of this book. The flow is seamless and adds to the mystery of the story. The storyline grips you from the opening pages until the surprising end. It gave me all the feels with the nonstop action, suspense, great characters, and romance. Book 2 brings us the stories of Kenzie King and Cole Garrison. While they have known each other since childhood, Kenzie finds herself as the only female member of the SWAT team in which Cole is her commander. This does not come without some growing pains and leads them to trying to protect Kenzie from an unknown enemy. This takes them on an adventure of both danger and discovery of the past and future. This is book definitely lived up to my expectations after such a great first book in the series. With such a strong, interesting group of characters who happen to be friends, I believe this entire series will be exceptional! It is a must read! I enjoyed Lynette Eason’s main characters in her newest release, Target Acquired. The combination of spunky Kenzie and faith-driven Cole in the face of danger made the plot twists even more intriguing. I usually predict the antagonist’s identity but this book kept me guessing. Another great read by one of my favorite authors!

Target Acquired is another fantastic book by Lynette Eason. Kenzie and Cole's story is so exciting from beginning to end. Kenzie being targeted, plus trying to fit in with an all male swat team, is stressful enough. Coupled with her growing feelings for her boss, Cole makes for a lot of tension in her life. Cole is also wrestling with his feelings for Kenzie, plus dealing with her being someone's target. The story kept me guessing. Every time time I thought I knew who was targeting her, I was wrong. The ending really blew my mind. Was not ready for that.

Target Acquired is the second book in the Lake City Heroes series, and this book features SWAT team medic Kenzie King and Detective Cole Garrison as the main characters. It's a great suspense read packed with tons of action, clean humor, and a plot that kept me on the edge of my seat to the last page. There were only a couple minor words used that I don't use but don't consider to be a big deal (heck and dang used twice each). The romance was sweet, clean, realistic and spice free which I seriously appreciate! I really liked how it was paced too, slow burn and sincere instead of the cringy insta-love a lot of books feature but I don't personally care for. Y'all, this was a read I loved, and I absolutely recommend! I plan to pick up a paperback copy for my suspense shelf as soon as I can.
