Book Synopsis

Is it ever too late to leave the friend zone? Discover the heartwarming friends to lovers romance that became a sensation on TikTok--now with a new chapter and a Q&A with the author!

The friend zone is not the end zone for Bree Camden, who is helplessly in love with her longtime best friend and extremely hot NFL legend, Nathan Donelson. The only problem is that she can't admit her true feelings, because he clearly sees her as a best friend with no romantic potential, and the last thing Bree wants is to ruin their relationship. But those abs . . .

Nope! Nothing but good old-fashioned, no-touching-the-sexiest-man-alive, platonic friendship for Bree. In any case, she has other things to worry about. After a car accident ended her chance at becoming a professional ballerina, Bree changed paths and now owns her own dance studio, with big dreams to expand it. But one more rent increase could mean the end of the studio entirely.

Then, as usual, Nathan comes to the rescue and buys the entire building. A stubborn Bree is not happy about it and decides to rebel with a couple--okay, maybe more than a couple--of tequila shots. Then her plan backfires as she spills her deepest, darkest secret to a TMZ reporter. One viral video later, the world thinks Nathan and Bree are the perfect couple. Before they can really talk about her confession, Nathan's publicist proposes a big opportunity that could mean financial security for Bree. The catch? They have to pretend to be in love. For three whole weeks.

What will happen when Bree gives in to the feelings she's been desperately hiding for so long, and could she be imagining that Nathan is actually enjoying it? Sarah Adams scores more than touchdowns in this exciting romantic comedy.

About the Author

Sarah Adams was born and raised in Nashville, Tennessee. She loves her family, warm days, and making people smile. Sarah has dreamed of being a writer since she was a girl, but finally wrote her first novel when her daughters were napping and she no longer had any excuses to put it off. Sarah is a coffee addict, a British history nerd, a mom of two daughters, married to her best friend, and an indecisive introvert. Her hope is to write stories that make readers laugh, maybe even cry--but always leave them happier than when they started reading.

I really wanted to love this book. I love a friend to lovers trope but this just falls short. The story was too predictable and it was hard to stay engaged. I couldn’t even finish it. The side characters redeemed the story with funny moments but overall not worth it.

A bit cringy at times, and the ending left a lot to be desired, but an overall fun read.

I couldn’t get through with it. The main girl is cringe and pick me. The guy gives us nothing. The book is very boring and overall weird. She called him Mr. Hottie Mchottie and that’s when I knew the book was not for me

I just saw this on the book shelf and picked it up. I am so glad I did! This was the most refreshing little romantic comedy story. I laughed out loud so many times throughout the book. It's very sweet and I loved the characters (main and supporting characters). If you're looking for a nice, easy read, do yourself a favor and pick it up too!

I haven’t read for fun since high school (6+ years). I saw this book on tiktok and read a sample, instantly hooked! The characters are heartwarming and their relationship is so cute! Only thing l would liked (besides the book being longer) was not rushing the last chapters. Besides that, I still give this book 5/5 starts it’s almost perfect.

This is the second novel I’ve read by Sarah Adams and once again I am absolutely in love with the story and characters she has created. I love that the characters are perfectly imperfect. It makes me so happy to read embarrassing and raw moments and also the jumbled and silly conversations because it makes it sooo relatable!! I absolutely love the way the characters view love as something that is precious, selfless, and should always be protected. Also, where can I meet a guy like Nathan? or Noah ;)

I absolutely loved this book! It was so genuine and hilarious. Let me tell you a group of football players coming up with a list to make a woman fall in love was perfect. Each of the players had a mix idea from romantic to insane. This is a slow burn friends to lovers that is sweet!

There is something so unique about Sarah Adam’s romances. She has such a clear voice in this genre. It’s relatable, laugh-out-loud funny, and it’s sincere. While all her stories are very different, the tone and the heart is the same. Her forthcoming release, The Cheat Sheet, delivers similar humor and romance as her other books, with the intimacy kicked up a notch. While this is still a closed door, there are more moments and implications than what you may not have experienced in her previous work if you’ve read those. I always love and appreciate an artist who takes creative liberties to branch out and evolve! Sarah really delivered a fun friends-to-lovers with this one. There was so much mutual pining and history from these two besties that it created the best and most rewarding slow burn! Bree gave me major Kate Hudson via How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days vibes. The silly and sweet personality mixed with Nathan’s steadfast unwavering loyalty to Bree was the best combination. Nathan was a total sweetheart! Hope was a constant theme in Bree and Nathan’s story. I love how they always had each other’s back- It was beautiful to see them as each other’s number one fan. There was really such a tenderness to Bree and Nathan that it countered the humor so flawlessly. If you love Kate Hudson style romances, with lots of humor and heart, you simply must read this!
