The Christmas Gathering is comprised of three Amish holiday novellas by Shelley Shepard Gray, Rachel Good, and Lenora Worth. The stories are sweet, light, and easy to read. I liked the main characters in each story, but I wish they had been more developed. I felt that the romances were sweet but instantaneous. I like how We Gather Together by Lenora Worth and Hitting All the Right Notes by Rachel J. Good tied into a series by each author. You can always count on Mrs. Vandenburg to have a scheme or two up her sleeve when she is trying to match two people after receiving a nudge from God in Hitting All the Right Notes. This was a unique Amish story with a group of Amish men forming a band and the setting being the Star Center. A Christmas Reunion by Shelley Shepard Gray had a clever scavenger hunt as part of a family reunion (I wanted to take part in it). I liked the setting in We Gather Together. It sounded like a beautiful place to get married, fall in love, or enjoy the holidays. The themes in The Christmas Gathering were friendship, family, faith, forgiveness, hope, and trust. The Christmas Gathering will get you in the mood for cool weather and the holiday season.

This is the perfect book to put you in the mood for Christmas and the nostalgic feelings it invokes. Each story has a theme of a Christmas miracle of sorts. I found each to have a unique storyline instead of the typical theme. Each character has obstacles to overcome to find love and happiness. I found myself settling in to enjoy turning the pages of these families lives as they deal with real difficulties, faith is tested, and Christmas brings to light Amish traditions which I found interesting. A warm inviting read of the holiday season and being surrounded by the love of family. I recommend adding this to your must read Christmas books. I received a complimentary copy from the authors. The honest review and opinions are my own and were not required.

This 3 novella collection centers around the Christmas holidays: A Christmas Reunion by Shelley Shepard Gray--Tricia Troyer is excited to spend the Christmas reunion with her family and just as excited to see Brandt Holden. Their connection is obvious to everyone. However, they come from different worlds, with Brandt living as an Englisher and Tricia living in an Amish family. Can they find a way to bring their worlds together? We Gather Together by Lenora Worth--When Lucas and Kayla meet on the shores of Lake Erie, they discover an old family fued. Their grandfathers once fought over the same woman, resulting in wounds that never healed. Lucas and Kayla decide to create opportunities where the families can interact, but it seems to just create a deeper divide. Will they succeed or will the family feud continue on to Lucas and Kayla as well? Hitting All the Right Notes by Rachel J. Good--Four years after leaving the Amish for his music career, Mark returns to his hometown when the band manager disappears. Suddenly broke and homeless, Mark finds himself teaching music at a teen center where he runs into an old fan... who quickly becomes a new flame. However, Joline has a rebellious streak of her own and has a lot of growing up to do before entering a relationship. Can these two work through their past? Or will their old rebellion destroy their future? All three novellas are clean, short, and heartfelt. They are brief for small chunks of time, making them an easy holiday read for the busy season. Characters are not fully developed, but that's to be expected with short stories. So going into this book with the right mindset is important. Readers do have to suspend some disbelief when it comes to the Amish elements of these stories. The Amish invididuals in these novellas are often unrealistically forward and outspoken. However, the second novella by Lenora Worth was definitely my favorite and seemed to be the most focused on the themes of holidays and romance. A quick holiday read for savoring the season. *Disclaimer: I received a free copy of the book from the publisher. All opinions are my own.

This book contains three separate stories of Amish holiday time. They are sweet stories and each is different than the others. I enjoyed each of the stories. The stories were all good and I think my favorite was The Christmas Reunion. In some ways reminded me of family holiday get-togethers and there is often a "stray" person as a guest. In this case it was a non-Amish young man and how he related to the family members. The second story was about a long-standing family feud of two Amish families. It's interesting how it continues through time until...a new romance blossoms between the feuding families. The last story was about "Rebel Amish" and the problems that occurred as a group of young Amish youth start a band, which is not abiding by the Amish rules. I enjoyed all the stories and they were fun holiday reads. I received an ARC of this book from one of the authors. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

A Christmas Reunion by Shelley Shepard Gray is one of three stories in The Christmas Gathering. The story takes place at a Christmas gathering outside of Wooster. Family and friends (Amish and English) join the Troyer family to celebrate Christmas. Tricia Troyer (Amish) and Brandt Massey (English) met at the previous year’s gathering. They have been writing letters since. The primary story is about them meeting in person again and learning more about the other amidst the activities planned for the group. I look forward to the characters in Shelley Shepard Gray’s books; they are authentic and kind people but not perfect. There is a “back story” that makes them who they are today. The book is a reminder of the reason to celebrate Christmas, a time of joy and hope. Reading the book allows a time of reflection for the upcoming holiday season. I recommend and I hope you enjoy as much as I did. I received a complimentary copy from the publisher. Thank you to Net Galley, the publisher, and the author for the opportunity to read this book. I was not required to provide a positive review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
