Can cause Struvite Crystals
3 out of 5 stars

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I recently just switched my 4 year old shih tzu to this dehydrated dog food. After a couple of days of him eating the dog food I noticed he started to pee more frequently and took him to the vet. It turns out he has struvite crystals. They provided pills (thinking it was an infection), but it ended up being his diet. Which means it had to come from him eating this dog food. There are two reasons I didn't give this a one star. The first reason being my shih tzu seemed to enjoy the flavor and eating the food (my dog could also just be sensitive to certain food). The second reason is, I also have a puppy she is 7 months old and is a pugapoo. She doesn't seem to be having any of the problems my shih tzu is having, but I'm still keeping my eye on her just incase. I'm not trying to say this will cause problems for others dogs; I'm just sharing what happened to my dog.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I put my Lab on Honest Kitchen when she was around 5 years old, and now she's 13, we get comments from friends about how her fur is so soft and best of all, even after a 10km hike she isn't limping around the next day. Proves that if you feed your dogs healthy food like your family they stay healthier longer. I mean, dogs are mammals like us? so their biochemistry works the same, what you put in is what you get out.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have been purchasing HK high quality products for around 16 years. I believe it’s the best of the best! HK used only “human” grade quality ingredients and has approval of the FDA to do so! They are much more than a pet food company. If you spend some time perusing their website you will see that they are a genuine total pet caring company. From health care to training tips they do it all with sound professional quality

I have been feeding THK

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have been feeding THK dehydrated food (grain free Turkey and grain free Fish) to my rescue toothless terrier for almost two years now. All of our fosters also get THK as toppers to make their kibble more enticing—a trick that has made even the pickiest of fosters eat with gusto. There are many things I love about this food; I’ll try to list a few: 1. The ingredients are top-notch. I especially like how it doesn’t include lentils or legumes. 2. Because it is dehydrated, it is easy to pack and portion for on-the-go. 3. There is minimal prep and clean up. My friends and family, who watch my dog if she can’t travel with me, find it easy to portion and feed. 4. My dog is a picky water drinker, so rehydrating this food allows me to control and increase her water intake. She will gulp this stuff heartily, even when it’s prepared on the “soupier” end. 5. All of the dogs I’ve had on THK dehydrated food have had really nice, solid poops. They also have a larger volume of poop, which I don’t mind because hey, they’re solid and regular and that’s all that matters. My dog loves this food so much, she parkoured onto a standard kitchen counter and tried to gnaw through the bag containing it. Keep in mind that she is 7 pounds and has no teeth. Her lack of teeth made her endeavour futile, but rest assured she was rewarded for her persistence.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have 3 small dogs. One is a senior dog and since we started using this dog food. He howls and barks in the morning while we have to wait the 3 minutes. He just had surgery and then had a tooth pulled. And what a blessing it was to have soft food that he was excited to eat. And I was able to hide his pills in the food. I would give him a tiny spoonful. And gobbled it up not knowing. Thank you.

I predominantly feed raw but as it gets colder I transition to gently cooked and dehydrated to be able to serve warmed food. This is mixed in with the meal for added nutrients and is eaten right down. I just wish HK had an organic option.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have 2 Cavapoo dogs that are picky eaters. Since I've started using Honest Kitchen, they eagerly await their meals. Their poops are what they should be and I know they are getting the water intake they need because I can get extra water to them when I reconstitute the food. Highly recommend. This is a high quality food for the price you pay.
