About the Book
"An unexpected tropical layover with her nemesis turns a flight attendant's life upside down in this ... debut romantic comedy about life--and love--30,000 feet above the ground"--Book Synopsis
The Unhoneymooners meets The Hating Game in this breezy debut romantic comedy about life--and love--30,000 feet above the ground. After ten years as a flight attendant, Ava Greene is poised to hang up her wings and finally put down roots. She's got one trip left before she bids her old life farewell, and she plans to enjoy every second of it. But then she discovers that former pilot Jack Stone--the absurdly gorgeous, ridiculously cocky man she's held a secret grudge against for years--is on her flight. And he has the nerve to flirt with her, as if he doesn't remember the role he played in the most humiliating night of her life. Good thing she never has to see him again after they land.... But when their plane encounters mechanical problems, what should have been a quick stop at the Belize airport suddenly becomes a weekend layover. Getting stuck on a three-hour flight with her nemesis was bad enough. Being stranded with him at a luxury resort in paradise? Even with the sultry breeze and white sand to distract her, it will take all the rum punch in the country to drown out his larger-than-life presence. Yet the more time Ava spends with him under the hot Caribbean sun, the more she begins to second-guess everything she thought she knew about him...and everything she thought she wanted from her life. And all too soon, she might have to choose between keeping her feet on the ground and her head in the clouds....Review Quotes

I considered stopping reading the book quite a few times. I found the first half incredibly dull. It starts to pick up in the second half and I’d say the last quarter of the book is relatively entertaining and well written. The second half the chemistry and funny dialogue starts to build. However it was too little too late.

Ava Greene wrote a list called “Ava’s Adult Aspirations” during her teenage years that included a more stagnant life so she could have more friends who didn’t feel abandoned. This hadn’t happened yet as she was a flight attendant who traveled 3 days week , so when she got engaged , she knew it was time to quit her job. But little did she know that her last flight on the job would change her life forever! It made her question was she with the right person and was a sedentary life what she really wanted? This fun light book with laugh out loud moments will have you turning the pages to find out Ava’s fate . A great book to end the summer with!

A rom-com debut that is sure to have you packing your bags and heading to Belize! * * First of all, this book is getting 5 stars from me because WOW -it was amazing! Second, debut?!? Are you sure....? Ava is ending her flight attendant career for more stability, something she lacked in her childhood. She’s hoping this last flight to Belize goes smoothly and perfectly butttttt then enters Jack. Jack has a reputation for being a bit of a womanizer and Ava won’t give him the time of day. And then they end up on the same flight together. Just perfect, right? This enemies to lovers is hilarious and sweet and will 100% have you craving nachos. Just trust me on that. Also, Jack is highly swoon worthy. (You’ve been warned) This is definitely a must read this season!

3.5 stars. 2 stars for the first half, 4 stars for the second half. Plus a .5 for the resort in Belize and for Eddie and Celeste. Oh wow, how The Layover appealed to my wanderlust!!! I'm ready to pack up and start a career as a flight attendant now! I loved the wild ride of Ava discovering herself and deciding what she really wants out of life. Overall, this book was adorable. Jack was adorable. Jack and Ava's banter was adorable. Pilot Paul... absolutely adorable. Gen's outlook on life and sense of humor are adorable. It took a while for the romance to really start, and for the first half of the book you're left in the dark on why Ava doesn't like Jack. About halfway through, some questions are answered and the romance begins amidst the amazing backdrop of a resort in Belize. The wait is definitely worth it... Jack and Ava are soulmates for sure!
