Q: Is this a lot like BOTW?
A: No, Breath of the Wild was an all-new Zelda adventure developed for the Nintendo Switch. BotW is an open world exploration/strategy/RPG hybrid. Skyward Sword is more like a traditional Zelda game. It was the sequel to Twilight Princess and was released in 2012. You start on an island in the sky, you use a bird partner to go to the lower world, you pick points to descend to on a map. Zelda goes missing. You must find her. It's a decent Zelda game, but no, it's nothing like BotW. There's no crafting. There's no weapon durability. There's no scaling any surface you want to as long as you have the stamina. There are road blocks in place and puzzles and temples that have to be overcome in the correct order to advance the story, you can't just cut to wherever you want, or go and defeat the final boss as soon as you wake up. If you buy this hoping it will be like BotW, you will be disappointed.
submitted bySerra - 4 years agoA: This isn’t like botw due to how linear of a legend of Zelda game this is. Skyward sword is more of a traditional legend of Zelda game with dungeons and quests. The person who had previously answered your question does not know what they are talking about. Skyward sword is the prequel to all of the legend of Zelda games it’s the first game chronologically and it was released in 2011 November 23rd. if your looking for a game like botw this is not anything like it because it’s a traditional legend of Zelda game. There are some Similarities like shield durability and upgrades and trials but botw interesting enough took most of its inspiration from skyward sword. I won’t get into depth because I want you to enjoy this game without knowing anything before playing it and I recommend you play this game because it’s one of the best 3D Zelda games. The person who had previously answered your question had incorrect information to the subject of your question. I hope you enjoy skyward sword if you do end up buying it and I hope you found this helpful.
