About the Book
"Sunny, Arianna and Molly are having three very different but equally terrible Christmases. Sunny is a newlywed with two new stepkids who want nothing to do with her; Arianna is newly divorced and hates having to send her daughter off to spend the holiday with her dad; for Molly, nothing is new, but her job at the post office is getting very, very old. The whole Christmas season has been a bust all around. But Sunny and Arianna have a wild idea: What if they had a Christmas do-over in January? February? On Saint Patrick's Day? Christmas all year long--what could that look like? As these three determined women chase the perfect holiday through twelve months of cooking disasters, over-the-top festivity, and lots of laughter and tears, they'll discover perfection is way overrated." --Book Synopsis

Twelve MONTHS of Christmas? Where do I sign up for that? :) Seriously, though - Sheila Roberts has knocked it out of the park once again - someone said "Christmas wouldn't be Christmas without a Sheila Roberts story" - I couldn't agree more. With Christmas only 11-ish weeks away (I know, right?!), now is a good time to dive into yet another book by the inimitable Sheila. This newest book is based on a quote by Ebenezer Scrooge "I will honor Christmas in my heart and try to keep it all through the year". This is what three friends Sunny, Ariana, and Molly end up doing after they each had individual horrible Christmases. They decided to have a do-over all year long! They threw a different themed party each month, keeping their Christmas trees up all year, decorated for each month’s theme. Hmmm…I think they’re on to something, perhaps I can convince the hubby it’s a ‘good’ idea to keep the tree up until June-ish as I’ve done in the past? But I digress… There’s laughter and yes, there are tears – so you’ll need to have your tissues handy. I was rooting for the three friends as they navigated through all sorts of hiccups along the way and worked together to keep the Christmas Spirit alive all year. It’s definitely a must-read!

I’m never disappointed when I read a book penned by Sheila Roberts and The Twelve Months of Christmas was brilliant. What a novel idea to celebrate the joy, love, family and friends that represent Christmas, but not just one time a year but twelve times. Several of Sheila Robert’s books have been made into movies and I can easily see this one becoming another. I loved all the characters and the way they helped each other through trails and disappointments. The idea of having a party each month close to the 25th celebrating Christmas with a theme for that month was inspiring. This is an idea I might even try with my family. The story touches on dealing with divorce, stepchildren, new love, and sadly death of a loved one. All everyday issues for many people. I know I’ve experienced similar things in my own life. I found myself with inner joy, laughter and a few tears along the way but enjoyed the trip overall. I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author but was not required to write a review.
