Book Synopsis

#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER - In this captivating novel from Danielle Steel, a wildly successful, unmarried wedding planner leads her clients to happily ever after.

Faith Ferguson is New York's most in-demand wedding planner, an arbiter of taste for elegant affairs, lavish ceremonies, and exclusive fêtes. She appreciates a simple celebration as much as a dazzling event, for she knows that a dream wedding is not necessarily the most expensive one.

As much as Faith enjoys her work, her two failed engagements leave her with no desire to get married herself. She finds fulfillment in her close relationship with her twin sister, Hope, her role as a mentor for her assistant, Violet, and her career.

This year, new clients have flocked to her, and she signs up an extravagant reception, a mid-sized gathering, and an intimate soirée, in addition to her mother's next marriage and Violet's modest ceremony. Faith finds herself forming bonds with her new clients and their loved ones--most notably the handsome brother of one of her grooms.

But weddings are not always all champagne and roses, and in no time, Faith is grappling with private quarrels, unplanned pregnancies, family scandals, dark secrets, and the possibility of cancelled ceremonies. Through her own journey, Faith will prove once and for all that there is not just one path to happily ever after.

In The Wedding Planner, Danielle Steel presents an enchanting story about the winding road to love and the many ways to find joy while staying true to oneself.

The Wedding Planner by Danielle Steel has Faith Ferguson planning three very different weddings. Faith is one of the most sought after wedding planners. You can always count on Faith to plan every detail of a wedding and to make the event magical for the couple. Faith may plan weddings, but she has no interest in getting married. I found The Wedding Planner to be easy to read. This is one of those stories that is a nice break from reality. I enjoyed the descriptions of the weddings that Faith created for each couple. She certainly came up with some creative ideas. There were two that were over-the-top while another was elegant. Weddings bring out the drama in families. Mothers want one thing while the bride wants another (or a groomzilla). Faith gets to hear it all and must tread a fine line (it would not do to take one side over the other). Faith’s twin, Hope is the opposite of Faith. She has a loving husband and a large, noisy family. In addition, Faith’s assistant is getting married, and Faith’s mother is walking down the aisle for the fourth time. There are a variety of personalities along with a diverse set of social issues (an abusive relationship, a charming gay couple who plan to have a child through a surrogate, and an unplanned pregnancy). There is repetition of backstory details that is typical in this author’s books. I enjoyed the upbeat ending that left me smiling. The Wedding Planner is a lovely afternoon diversion. The Wedding Planner is an escapist story with a prosperous wedding planner, a groomzilla surgeon, fireworks on the fourth, adoption quandary, a winter wedding, a jubilant twin, and happily ever after.

This book was hard to read- I have a rule that I must finish a book no matter how bad, and wow this was tough. The plot itself wasn’t horrible, extremely predictable but okay. The writing itself was just so difficult. Nothing but five word sentences with so much repetition, it felt like the author wrote one sentence, then a second, the forgot she already wrote the first. There was constant bouncing from one character to the next with no consistent POV. It was just really difficult to enjoy because it was very amateur writing. A bit disappointing as this was my first book from this author and I am not encouraged to continue her books.

Faith Fergson is considered one of the most demanded wedding planners in New York. She seems to make every bride not only feel special but feel like Cinderella. She works with all different sizes and type weddings. It could be a small intimate weddinng of around one guests or lavish and extreme weddings with five or six hundred guests. Also her fees are not cheap but you know that before booking her. It can range in the thousands and several times in the millions. She goes above and beyond to make the day one they will never forget. She is also like a therapist in helping unexpected pregnant women salvage and still give them the day they always wanted not to. She encounters unhappy brides, family secrets and also abusive type men and tries to help all these young women have fantasy weddings. When it comes to her life it is nothing after two cancelled marriages of her she has thrown herself into her work. Could she ever find romance for herself? Sometimes when you least expect it opportunities arise. Very enjoyable read.
