The New York Times bestselling author of Get Out of Your Head provides a revolutionary path to embracing a healthy relationship with your emotions, one that leads to life-giving connection with God and others as well as to a richer understanding of yourself.

How often have you heard, "Don't let your emotions get the best of you"? But what if instead of ignoring our feelings, we noticed them, named them, and let God use them to draw us closer to Himself and others?

Many of us need to unlearn damaging messages about our emotions. We've been taught, for example, that emotions are untrustworthy, when, in fact, God can use them to help us see where we need His healing.

In Untangle Your Emotions, Jennie Allen uses scientific research, biblical insight, and her own story to help you
● exchange stuffing, dismissing, or minimizing your emotions for a five-step process to know what you feel and what to do about it
● debunk the myth that feelings are sinful by learning how emotional maturity leads to deeper connection with God and others
● live emotionally healthy by applying biblical wisdom and therapeutic research that works whether you self-identify as "emotional" or not
● sit with feelings that are confusing and painful by discovering the depth of God's love and compassion for you

Feelings aren't something to fix; they are something to feel. As we discover how to name and navigate our emotions, we'll learn how they can draw us closer to the God who built us--soul, mind, and heart.

A good book about how it is important to understand your feelings. It's okay to feel those feelings and even a good reminder that Jesus showed emotions

This is helping me to stop to think about what I am feeling and why I am feeling the emotion. Then I can rationalize whether my thoughts match my feelings and the truths of God’s word.

Jennie Allen has done it again! The way she articulates what some would consider “complicated” psychological terms and makes it super simple for anyone to understand is something I loved! Really excited to apply what I learned and start to build even more intimacy with the Lord through processing my emotions with Him and community!

This book will be one I come back to over and over again. Jennie writes like a friend you’re having coffee with, but encourages and challenges you right where you’re at. The wisdom of counselor through the voice of a friend, sharing her own experiences and how we can lean into our emotions and not shame ourselves in “trying not to feel them.” She shows us how our emotions tell us something and how we can learn from them. Get this book. Every one of us will benefit from this message.

From the first couple pages of this book, I felt Jennie had something specific to say to me. Nearly all my life, I and others have considered myself “well-adjusted”. But I’m starting to wonder if being well-adjusted is all it cracks up to be. Maybe it would be beneficial for me not to set all the hard aside, move on and assume I’m good. So now I’m taking Jennie’s advice and learning to notice the emotions and name them. This book offers practical advice which is doable and helpful while reminding us that emotions come from our Creator and have a place in our lives. I will be returning to the sections I highlighted often!

For When You Feel You're Too Much or Not Enough

Most of my life I have struggled with feeling as if my emotions were too much to the extent that I essentially shut them off. I believed that allowing myself to feel many of these emotions was either a sin, lack of self control, or that I just wasn’t close in my walk. This book has been such a gift and reminder that we were and are created to feel. The principles highlighted and practical applications given are desperately needed for everyone at all stages of life. This book is a must-read!

Emotions the way God sees them

I had the privilege of being able to read Untangle Your Emotions ahead of its release. Here is a little about what I learned: Emotions are often seen in a negative light, something that needs fixed. We try to control them, conceal them, or cope with them. But God has a better way. Feelings are meant to better connect us to ourselves, to one another, and, most importantly, to God. Sure, emotions can lead us to sin. But emotions themselves are not sin. We can take them, the good, the bad, and the ugly to God and to our community. We can heal. We can grow. We can connect. We can be more whole versions of ourselves. We can be free. I cannot recommend this book enough and it’s out today! 📖🤗🥳

Untangle My Emotions?!?!?

Untangle My Emotions? After a year and half plus of walking through intense grief and spiraling anxiety and finally finding the other side, a clear mind, no longer paralyzed by fear, I thought this might be a book for me to skip out on. I’m so glad I didn’t. Through my journey I have found so much of what’s shared in the book to be true and helpful in seeking emotional health. I highlighted, sent screenshots to friends and family, took notes and will be using many concepts and tools with family and friends. I spent many hours and days clinging to God, His Word, praising Him, asking myself hard questions, unraveling the things that led to my grief and anxiety. But I did it without a map or guide. It was painful and hard and messy. This book is an amazing map and guide, a tool for anyone who wants to be healthier emotionally. Untangle Your Emotions can be used at any age and stage and beautifully points us towards Jesus as we live and feel in this broken world. I’m always looking for ways to communicate more effectively with family and friends and in all the other spaces God places us. This book is a tool for me to be healthier and I can pass that on to my kids and the next generation by my example and by using this language and these habits in our lives. It’s Biblical therapy. Get you and those you love a copy and start feeling and untangling your emotions! :)

Jennie Allen asks a tough question-like-How are you feeling? But she helps us figure out the answer, too! Jennie is helping me get in touch with my emotions and is showing me that God has created me this way and that he wants to help me work through the challenges the emotions place in my life. Grab this book!! It’s a great tool for yourself and for your relationships.

As a momma, wife, friend, daughter- I find myself carrying more emotions then my own. I am thankful for a book that allows me to focus on myself and my own emotions to better equip me to walk alongside my loved ones. One MUST take care of themselves before they can truly be there for others! 🤍
