Worst ever - possible defective?

Let's start with the description of the product. The Target website indicates it has an audible alarm that alerts when the waffle is ready. This waffle maker does not have an audible alarm. Then, let's go read the manual. The manual states there is a light. The product has 2 lights, one red, one green. The red light is always on when plugged in. The green light cycles on and off with the burner. Somehow this light is supposed to indicate a waffle is done. Following explicitly the instructions provided, I heated the iron on 7 until the light switched off, reduced to 5 and poured my first waffle when the green light switched off. The green light came on again a few minutes later, then switched off after a couple more minutes, (indicating a done waffle, per instructions). This cycle, which by the instructions takes about 3 minutes, took 8 minutes and the waffle was not cooked. The top was soggy, the bottom barely browned. I left the waffle in a total of 15 minutes. The top never browned. For waffle #2 I threw the instructions out the window and cranked the heat up to Max, giving the iron ample time to heat up. When the green light switched off I poured a waffle. Green light came on a couple minutes later. When green light switched off, after 6 minutes indicating a done waffle, I lifted the lid and saw a light but irregular browning of the top, the bottom was black at the bottom of the indentations near the middle of the waffle; lightly browned near the outer edges. Conclusions: Top does not heat. No audible alarm provided. Poor heat distribution. Target web page misrepresents the product (BTW - we did receive the product pictured on the webpage). The instructions provided with the product do not match the product in the package. The green light is not a magic "waffle is done" indicator, it simply switches on and off as the thermostat cycles, just like the waffle makers I have used for 50+ years. Don't buy this junk.
