Q: can I use this to cut hair?

A: #4 and #5 guide attachment are supposed to be different by 1/8 of an inch but is about 1 full inch difference rendering this trimmer useless.

Q: My husband shaves his head BALD every 3-4 days. He likes to get as close as possible and he is so tired of using the cheap razors. Can he use it on his head to get that close shave?

A: TRIMMING PRIVATE AREAS with the trimmer & detailer head 1. Volume reduction using trimmer head. Attach guide comb and select a long trimming length. Begin trimming, starting at the top and working down. Use progressively closer settings to get the “look” and length you prefer. 2. For a shaven look, use the detail shaver head. Always pull skin taut. Then, slowly move the detail shaver through the area to trim.

Looks and was priced identical to my old wahl trimmer but this one is made in China. Blade is very poor quality and the power button feels flimsy. Cut me several times. The made in USA version runs about $135 these days.

This is by far the worst trimmer I have ever used. I got this to replace a Philips trimmer that ws about 7 or 8 years old that was starting to tug and pull a bit. It would be a more comfortable trim to use a dull childrens scissors then deal with the snags, pulls, and tangles that this has. 100% going to throw this one in the trash and try something different.

Our newer models of the Stainless Steel trimmers have a travel lock. We always want to make sure that have been checked before we replace a unit. Here are the directions for the lock: Hold the power button down for 5 seconds to engage travel lock. Hold power button down for 5 seconds to disengage travel lock. NOTE: Plugging in power cord while locked will deactivate the travel lock. Please contact Wahl at help@wahlclipper.com and we can help you get a new unit if the lock is not the issue.

It cuts well enough, but as others have pointed out the numbered guards are way off. The #5 guard is 5/8" and cuts probably at about that length. The #4 is supposed to be 1/2" and it is nowhere near that, maybe an 1/8" if not shorter. This makes this useless for a medium length beard or cutting hair.

I feel this will be a good purchase for my son. I purchased it online as a Christmas gift, wrapped it and put it under the tree. Sadly, the first day he decided to use it and took it out of the manufacturer package, he grossly discovered the shaver was already full of someone else’s hair!!! We live 40 miles from the nearest Target store, and I am glad to have the option of free delivery to my home by using my Red Card, however, if Target doesn’t have quality co tell standards on resale of previously returned items, I will have to shop elsewhere in stores that are closer to me, so I can do my own quality control on the items that come into my home.

Guide comb woes

The guide combs that come with this make ZERO sense. There are 8 "stubble" combs that go all the way up to a stated length of 13mm, then there are 4 standard guide combs that start at a stated length of 16mm. Fun story: The longest "stubble" comb (13 mm) cuts hair nearly an inch shorter than the shortest standard comb. It's crazy. You literally cannot use this to cut a medium length beard. It's either stubble or long. That's it. The clipper itself works well and has a good battery life. This comb issue is an insane design "flaw". I put flaw in quotes because you can purchase the missing sized guide combs from Wahl, so perhaps this is just a trick to get you to spend more.
