I'm well experienced with BBQ's, especially with Weber, and am a gadget person. I've long used meat probes for cooking, have a Weber Genesis with built in wi-fi unit for heat probes. Works wonderfully. However, having recently added a Weber Q+ to my BBQ family, I went all in and also bought the expensive Weber Connect Hub. As a meat probes for cooking and connecting to my home wi-fi it works very well. BUT, the hub won't turn off. I've the online user guide (well, extensively searched thier FAQ'S, there's no specific user guide, very lazy of Weber methinks), which claims that it sleeps without probes attached, and the hub can be turned off. But that doesn't happen. No matter what I try, the doesn't swith off, and the battery goes flat overnight. I've gone back to using the competitor products. Reading reviews, it appears that others have this problem.

The probe for reading grill temperature should be integrated with the thermometer on the lid. The app is poorly organized. The recipes are badly written they should give approximate times and be able to be varied by the quantities and thicknesses of the ingredients used. The probes should be wireless. See your competitors!!!

I am now able to monitor and control all aspects of grilling and smoking on the Weber. I can maintain a consistent temperature in the grill while monitoring the temperature of the meat being cooked. So far I have smoked a turkey and a pork shoulder with excellent results and grilled some filets to perfection. A must have for serious outdoor cooking!!

Missing features that are on the other Webber app. Like using charcoal, setups for direct or indirect heat. Just to plainly look for a grilling advice on a type of cut, not to follow a recipe. The grilling method and grilling guides of the Webber grill app should be included here, I really thought I was, by buying the Webber connect, going to have everything in one place. It makes it super cumbersome to be looking what’s the temp for medium rare on a hanger stake on the Webber connect. I find the Webber grill app much better, just missing the temp monitoring.

It simply doesn’t work.The first one I bought failed to show a consistent temperature, was 120 degrees above the analog temperature, and then simply failed at ‘624’ degrees by shutting off. I worked extensively with the company rep to try to fix this problem to no avail. They finally sent me a new unit. It failed in exactly the same way. I suspect there is a problem with the software. The Weber Connect app forces a software update when you connected to your phone and I suspect there is a glitch. I would not buy this product until Weber can assure that it has been debugged, and thoroughly tested.

The time to desired temperature is not intuitive. I grilled a beer can chicken that was scheduled to complete in 90 minutes. When the chicken was reached 165 degrees the program said it would need 90 more minutes to finish. My hub does not charge to 100% and only reaches 95%. It also takes a very long time to recharge.

I find this Weber Connect Smart Grilling Hub indispensable when you want your grilled meat done to perfection. The dual probes allow you to control both, the temperatures of your grilling space and the internal temperature of the meat you are grilling, it easily connects with your phone for easy monitoring of your food. It comes with a clip for the ambient probe that allows it to stay in place while measuring the temperature, very useful when you need both, direct and indirect heat for your grilling. The set up was a breeze, it also comes with very clear instructions on its set up and use. Highly recommend.

Finally got around to a good test of our BBQ besides hamburgers. Cooked a Roast on it using a Weber recipe and the built in probe. I have to say the whole system was a delight and joy to use. The Roast came out as perfect to our taste as we could expect. Looking forward to next time!

It works well once it's up and running. First one refused to pair with my Android phone and wifi was defective. Props to Weber for sending out a new one asap. Was having same issues then decided to try to pair with friends iphone. Worked fine, updated firmware and then paired fine with my android. They should update these things at the factory before they send them out. Love the app and all the recipes on demand and unit works great. Only wish there was a wireless option for my rotisserie. Does work great though once it's good to go.

I bought this unit at six months ago. Never had any issue with it as long as you charge it fully before your first use, you never have any issues. It holds its charge for a fair amount of time and gives great accuracy when cooking.
