Q: Does the wood color/stain on the natural cane furniture like this bench, match that on the Hearth and Hand Shaker dining table? I want to mix them but not if they clash.

We had the bench for less than a week and had to return it because the side edge started to peel off. It was only sat on 3 or 4 times. It was sturdy and pretty in our space, so I was bummed it wasn’t going hold up, even to gentle use.

I love this bench! The quality is great and it is a very nice accent piece. Great for display but also functional for sitting on. My four year old daughter loves sitting on this bench. I was surprised at how sturdy it is. The color is beautiful. I will definitely be ordering more furniture pieces from Hearth and Hand!

This is my first Hearth & Hand purchase and won't be my last! I just ordered the two door cupboard that is the same finish to go in the room with this bench. Such good quality and designing, feels study but isn't too too heavy. I love how versatile too- currently in my home office but would look great in any room! I wanted a bench with a shelf so I could place things below purposefully instead of on the floor. The clearance is perfect so that it is functional to place items.

As another review mentioned, ours also started fading. We’ve only used it for setting mail or purses down. I first started noticing small spots where the stain/sealant came off. But this week was the worst. As you can see in the photos, 2 rectangular spots where mail was sitting have faded/coating has come off. None of these pieces of mail were damp nor heavy, so there shouldn’t be a reason for this. It’s unfortunate we are out of the return time frame. I don’t recommend this bench. What a disappointment.

Loved this when we got it but it has not held up at all. We never use it - it is a decorative bench in our bathroom - but the finish has faded all over. It never gets wet or splashed on. There may be dampness in the air but it shouldn't cause this.

Super sturdy, very cute, and easy to assemble! The only downfall is ours has a natural flaw in the wood on top. It has a 3-inch knot that looks like a dark stain and is very prominent. That’s what can happen with natural wood so we aren’t upset, but if this was something we saw in store would have chosen a different model. All in all looks cute in our small living room and we are just going to cover the flaw with accent decor.

This was the easiest piece of furniture I’ve ever put together. I think it took like 10 minutes. This bench is incredibly sturdy and there is only one kind of hardware so it’s self-explanatory in what goes where. This Hearth and Hand (Wood & Cane Bench Natural - Hearth & Hand™ with Magnolia) bench is really cute and pretty well made. It's being used right next to my hall closet in the front entryway. We keep our coats and boots in the closet. The bench is allowing us to sit there instead of on the living room sofa to put on our shoes and boots to go outside. Even my dog had to check it out when I first got it (see photos). Highly recommended! I'm planning to get another one for our basement walkout area for the same purpose.
