I tried using my shredder during a Minnesota January. The first shredder line shattered within three minutes, and its replacement lasted about 30 seconds. At what temperature is the shredder line okay to use without disintegrating almost immediately?

Been wanting a muncher and went with WORX, as I own several of their products - all good. The mulcher was very easy to put together, clear simple instructions with no tools needed. Tried it out with both Dry and Wet leaves and did a good job on both. I'm mulching mainly Oak leaves and worked to keep the bark out. While the final results were great, it is a messy job and DO NOT OPERATE WITHOUT SAFETY GOGLES OR A MASK. First time I did not wear a mast and paid for it the next 24 hours. Second time I wore both - much better. Avoid sticks best you can and the results are great. Need to change up the line about every 2-3 full runs, but also found the line that comes with the machine is rather flimsy so purchased .80 Commercial Grade, which lasted longer. Machine stores away easily & nicely back in the box if you have limited space. Now all my neighbors want to borrow - ugh. Love it - great purchase - would buy again! Only con is it is rather tall when put together so if you are under 5'8" it might be a stretch to comfortably stand and load the leaves. I used a plastic contractor bag to catch the leaves and that worked much better than paper or plastic garbage bags (got holes right away). This was the most thorough means to "catch all". I'm mulching to reuse the leaves in my garden beds and they are a perfect fine size - even the wet leaves mulched well. Love my new leaf muncher - used it for about 15 loads thus far.

Motor cooling air intake poor design. Burns out

All electric motors require air to cool them or they burn out. The air intake is located next to the outgoing mulched leaves so they quickly clog up the filter. This causes the motors to overheat and eventually burn out. Instructions do not cover how to clean out the filter. Clean out requires removing the motor cover. Why did they not design it with an easily cleaned filter? Other than that it does the job pretty well.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] After finishing a master gardening program, I realized I was wasting great mulch material by leaving it at the curb for pickup every season. I purchased this leaf mulcher to add organic nutrients back to my garden beds and for composting. It takes a little more time, but the benefits to my gardens are well worth it. Here are a few suggestions I learned to using the mulcher more efficiently: -Mulch dry leaves, not wet. -Rake leaves in piles before beginning. -Have a wheelbarrow nearby to put twigs and sticks into as you feed leaves into the mulcher. -Use the Worx Collapsible Leaf Bin to gather up leaves, don't pack in. -Hold the leaf bin with one hand, resting on the rim of the mulcher while and steadily feeding manageable handfuls of leaves with the other hand.

This mulcher does an excellent job mulching leaves (11to1) which reduces volume and creates a great mulch for flower beds and natural areas. This mulch is fine enough to break down quickly in a mulched area. When used as directed, you will be pleased with the results. If you bag leaves for disposal, this will cut way down on the number of bags that you need. Works great on dry leaves. It is not recommended for pine cones, sticks and branches which need to be sorted out prior to use. As a result, the nylon cutting line will last a long time before easy replacement. In addition, WORX support is excellent and they stand behind the product during the warranty period and will take quick action to resolve any customer issues per our experience.

Used this unit 2 seasons and the motor brushes burnt up. Worx doesn't make or have any replacement brushes. So stay away from the model because once the brushes are done you're stuck with a piece of shiz that can't be fixed.

I was advised to chop hay for my horse and that this machine would be good for that purpose. However, while it works well mechanically, it took me an hour to chop less than 1/3 bale of hay, and it is too fine and dusty. Is there a way to adjust the cutting size so that it chops or cuts the hay instead of turning it into dust? In order to chop 20 lbs, it will take all day.

The rate of feed and a buildup in the machine shears off the monofilament line, requiring them to be replaced. I am careful to feed it at a slower pace and check for a buildup inside that will shear the line. It is fairly easy to clear the deck once stopped.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This mulched does a good job of mulching leaves, but will not mulch them into a lawn leaf bin. You have to mulch them into a bag and then dump the bag into a bin.

Clogs every few minutes - not worth your time

Under normal midwest conditions and without rain over the last 3-4 days, I put one shovel of leaves into the funnel at a time, but the mulcher gets clogged every few minutes. This forces me to turn off the mulcher and push my hand through the slots to unclog it and allow the leaves to go through. The product page mentions it will process 53 gallons per minute, but it is taking me 30 minutes to fill a 30 gallon bag given how it clogs every few minutes. Very disappointed with the purchase - don't waste your time with this one!

Wet Leaves No Problem!

I live in BC, Canada where it rains all the time in the Fall. I watched many reviews and almost all YouTubers steered clear of mentioning mulching wet leaves. But I had no choice so I bought one to give it a try risking my investment. To my surprise, it mulched all the wet Maple leaves in my garden with no problem at all. That said, I used a coarser, rougher trim line instead of the one that came with the mulcher. Also be prepared to do a just a little more work as what you get in the end is leaf paste not leaf fragments. But on the bright side, there's no dust and it's great for the flower beds! I would recommend for sure.

two problems: the plastic line as it degrades doesn't mulch the leaves in the pot and they get clogged. You end up after ten minutes having to stir the pot and it is highly inefficient. Other issue is the degraded plastic is mixed in with my leaf mulch which I intend to use in my vegetable garden and I dont want to have all these microplastic pieces mixed in my soils being absorbed by them and the vegetables I am growing.

I wasn't sure how well this leaf mulcher would work, but I bought one anyway. I am very glad that I did. It mulches very well and drops the left over into a garbage bag. Just tie it up and you are done. One recommendation, get a stronger twine. It wore down faster than I expected. Overall, I like this mulcher and would recommend it to anyone.
