I bought the watch on Xplora’s website and tried posting this review twice and they’ve both been deleted so trying here to share my experience with other parents and guardians. I’m rather unhappy with the Xplora X6 Play watch. We often cannot update our child’s location (several times a week), you have to text using their glitchy proprietary app and my child cannot add friends to text unless they also have an Xplora watch (ONE friend). And today, he dropped the watch and the screen cracked 4 months into our TWO YEAR contract! This is a watch designed for CHILDREN??!! I called customer service and my option is to pay $85 and probably wait for it to crack again in 4 months or just continue using a cracked screen. I really wish I had gone with a simple cell phone instead. The customer service rep was very nice though. My guess is the owners of this company have zero interest in durability since they’ll bait parents into paying $85 to buy replacements as their wealth grows one broken watch at a time.

Our 13 year old has been using this for nearly a year now, and the GPS tracking abilities and parental controls has been wonderful. Our son uses his watch mainly to communicate with his friends via text. We like the ability to review his texts and contacts, so we can decide who he talks to and when he is allowed to do so. The watch is recommended for kids aged 4-11 but it is definitely suitable for middle schoolers like my son, who isn’t quite ready to get a phone yet. This is a great stepping stone before giving your kid a phone, and gives parents peace of mind.

Great way for kids and parents to stay connected. Kids are able to also connect with loved ones chosen by their parents. Parents can program in familiar numbers to the watch so kids can connect with loved ones. There is a GPS tracker for parents to locate kids. A great watch for kids who are starting to go places on their own and you want them to be able to connect with you without having a smart phone or watch. It also helps kids to stay active through the Goplay rewards.

I absolutely love the GPS tracking abilities of this watch, especially since it doesn't require an addition to our cell phone plan. The monthly plans are affordable and my kids love the watch interface. You can setup the phone number that you want them to be able to communicate with too.

I really love this watch for my 8 year old. I love that only people in his contact list can call or text him. The other feature I love is the school mode feature which keeps him from fooling around with his watch while in school. He enjoys the step counting feature as well.

Excellent product. My daughters have used XPLORA watches for 2 years now. We chose to upgrade to this newer model and love it. The straps are much more robust, the changeable color frames are a huge hit and the functionality is top notch. Highly recommend!

I got this watch to basically ease my child into having a phone. Unfortunately, it isn't clear but to use the texting service on this device every recipient and sender must install the Xplora app. This is a non starter for most people (as who wants to install 3rd party apps just to text?), and you have to go into the app to see if your child texted you, meaning that you will often miss texts. Call quality was also extremely poor even with strong signal. It also stopped charging shortly after the 30 day trial period. Not recommended. Customer service is also lacking. Despite not using their service for months due to the watch becoming inoperable they continued to charge us for it and when we brought this to their attention they told us that we were not entitled to a refund because we didn't contact them immediately to allow them to trouble shoot the watch. I would avoid them, especially if you have a memory affecting disability like I do. They will send you no notifications and simply keep charging you until you catch it on your payment method, like I finally did.

The variation in call quality due to carrier signal strength is also a valid concern, and we empathize with your frustration. Our CS team is always available to support you and explore alternative carriers that may offer better coverage in your habitual area. Regarding the subscription, it can be managed through your profile, giving you control over its continuation. If you no longer wish to continue, it can be canceled at the first possible date. I love I don’t have to give my 10 year old a cellphone yet. With this watch I can track send message and even calls. It’s amazing. Good quality, awesome colors and easy to handle. My son is extremely happy.

Great first phone for a preteen/teenager. It can only text to the app on your phone and only call preprogrammed numbers (except for emergency). No internet access which is a plus for us!

This is an okay watch for a kid. It’s tracks where your child is and where your child has been. It can only make and receive phone calls. Texting isn’t an option unless other people have the Xplora app which they don’t. But parents are able to text since you would download the app to use the features. I like that my son is always on speaker because I don’t have to worry about what conversations he’s having. It’s easy enough for a kid to use but could be better. Most kids can use electronics better than adults so the interface could use more features. My son likes the games but says the games could be better. He likes that he can see how many steps he’s taken and likes to use the alarms. I like that it has a school mode so you can decide when your child can use the phone. It does have an SOS feature so even if it’s “off” during school it can still be used in emergencies. As a parent you can turn the watch off and on remotely and the app lets you know when the battery is running low. Also you can see who your child has called. It’s simple and if that’s what you’re looking for I say get it. But if you want bells and whistles this wouldn’t achieve that.

I had very high hopes for the Xplora Smartwatch. My daughter just turned 10 and I wanted her to be able to experiment with a phone before splurging on an iphone when she transitions to middle school. First, I want to say that I love a good set of clear directions when setting up something new. I do not think that this company does a good job helping to set up the phone. I had to run to YouTube a lot for guidance on setting this watch up, activating, getting a phone number, etc. It not should not take that much work to figure this smartwatch out. My second complaint is that this watch will absolutely not connect with my wifi at home, or anywhere else that I have tried. That being said, all the watch does when it is on is chime that it needs to update: ANNOYING!! It also has not recorded one step that my daughter has taken in the almost 2 weeks that she has had this. She has basically lost interest at this point even wearing it. The one thing that I do like is being able to set up her contacts in the app so that is easy for her to call our family and friends. The calls do seem clear enough as well. I do not personally think that all the hassle is worth the money in purchasing this smart watch.

This watch is great for kids, it has gps and works just great. My grandson loves it, and it has interchangeable plates to change the colors. Super cool band that adjusts very easily. Great gift as well.

This watch is awesome! After getting over the hurdle of setting up the watch it was very easy to work. My daughter loves wearing it everyday and being able to call me when we are not together. The app is also fun and shows how to do different things and keep track of the watch. The watch has a good battery life and moves pretty fast to keep up with the times. So far its great!

It’s a great watch/tracker. I’ll give it that. I wanted to love it. I do like it, but i Don’t love it. While it does track how many steps my daughter does, and does show me her location. Either live, or history of where she’s been. She loves that it looks like mine. It does have cool background, and picture ability. Maybe we haven’t played with it enough. One major thing I don’t like, is that I can’t call her because she doesn’t have her own phone. She’s only 7. So when I set it up, I put my phone number. So obviously I can’t call her because it does calls from the same number. So that’s a major no for me. It’s nice but I feel it could be better.

As you already like your daughter's watch, we recommend getting a new SIM-card and this way you will be able to benefit from all the watch’s features. I bought this watch for a 7 year to stay in touch during the day. She is not yet ready for a cell phone. We call, chat and text throughout the day. I set the watch to school mode when she is in school so it will not make any noises and she will not be able to use it. I am able to see where she is with the tracker. She is having fun keeping track of the steps she takes all day. I have added all the contact from the app on my phone. It is a cool watch.
