About the Book
During WWII, when special agent Sterling Bertrand is washed ashore at Evie Farrow's inn, her life is turned upside down. As Evie and Sterling work together to track down a German agent, they unravel mysteries that go back to WWI. The ripples from the past are still rocking their lives, and it seems yesterday's tides may sweep them into danger today. From the Back Cover
In two world wars, intelligence and counterintelligence, prejudice, and self-sacrifice collide across two generationsIn 1942, Evie Farrow is used to life on Ocracoke Island, where every day is the same--until the German U-boats haunting their waters begin to wreak havoc. And when special agent Sterling Bertrand is washed ashore at Evie's inn, her life is turned upside down. While Sterling's injuries keep him inn-bound for weeks, making him even more anxious about the SS officer he's tracking, he becomes increasingly intrigued by Evie, who seems to be hiding secrets of her own.
Decades earlier, in 1914, Englishman Remington Culbreth arrives at the Ocracoke Inn for the summer, never expecting to fall in love with Louisa Adair, the innkeeper's daughter. But when war breaks out in Europe, their relationship is put in jeopardy and may not survive what lies ahead for them.
As the ripples from the Great War rock Evie and Sterling's lives in World War II, it seems yesterday's tides may sweep them all into danger again today.

Heartrending family drama across two wartime generations unravels in this split-time historical romance. Both stories take place mostly on Okrakoke Island, North Carolina and feature two strong women, Evie Farrow (1942) and Louisa Adair (1914). In the beginning I’d get a little mixed up between the timelines, but that didn’t keep me from wanting to read on. There’s a lot going on behind this gorgeous cover, but it’s all so exciting! I couldn’t wait to see how everything came together. If you’ve read Roseanna’s other books, you’ll love seeing several characters make appearances here. So much to love: diverse characters, spies, secret messages, island life, heartbreak, healing, sacrifice, and faith woven throughout. I received an advanced copy. All opinions are my own.

Yesterday’s Tides by Roseanna M. White is a stand-alone novel. Set in two time frames; it’s the stories of two very courageous resilient women! Louisa Adair’s story is set in 1914 during the first world war. She falls in love with an Englishman who is visiting her quaint little island inn during the summer. In 1942, Evie Farrow falls in love with a man who washes up on her beach. The stories were a little hard to keep straight since people from both time periods were in both segments, but I really enjoyed getting to know LuLu and Evie. They were both strong, independent girls with lots of fortitude to face life’s hardships! I received this book from the author for my honest review.

I loved the dual timeline in this story. The WW1 and WW2 periods are always so interesting to read about. The author did a great job of keeping the reader guessing as to how the two characters were related to one another. Such clever nicknames that never gave the story away. The generational connection of the secret code that went all the way back to the US Civil War was another really neat way to tie everything together. The story really showed how when God wants two people together, nothing will keep them apart - not wars, disasters or even disapproving family members. The issue of race is dealt with in this story in such a loving way; although there are some narrow-minded characters, overall the message is that race isn't important when love brings people together. This is the fifth book I've read by White and this is by far my very favorite!

As a huge fan of historical fiction, I was super excited to dive into Roseanna M. White’s newest release, Yesterday’s Tides. This novel is a masterfully written dual-timeline story that has it all: romance, heartbreak and sacrifice, faith, family secrets, and enduring love. This fascinating and well-researched tale moves between two generations of a family residing on Ocracoke Island on the Outer Banks of North Carolina during two separate eras of WW1 and WW2. The story is told from the perspectives of four characters, Evie and Sterling in the later timeframe, and Louisa and Remington in the earlier era. As the story moves along, the reader learns how the characters are all related, the romances of each couple, and how they are affected by the world’s events of each timeframe. Filled with surprises, drama, and heartwarming love and faith, this book is a read that is absolutely riveting, and I had trouble putting it down. Racism in the way of mixed-race marriage is addressed and handled gracefully, inspiring thoughtful contemplation. Bonus that Ms. White weaves cameos of familiar characters from her other stories into the plotline, making for a joyfully pleasant addition. As a dedicated reader of Ms. White’s novels, this one rated right up there as outstanding reading. Thank you, Roseanna, for another exceptional must-read! I was blessed to receive a complimentary copy from the publisher. All opinions expressed in this review are my own.

I've read and enjoyed many of this author's books and I now have a new favorite! Yesterday's Tides is a stunning historical fiction saga with dual timelines that cover the lives of several family members through both WWI and WWII. Author Roseanna M. White weaves mystery and romance in this book that's primarily set along the North Carolina Outer Banks on Ocracoke Island, and her fans will recognize her dedication to in-depth research. This book showcases her amazing ability to combine true facts and fiction, and I especially loved that so many characters from her previous books are featured in this story! I've come to expect characters with strong faith and moral values and White certainly didn't disappoint me! My heart was stolen by the intriguing human connections and the touching faith message, as these families deal with the ugliness of discrimination, deception, death, and war. This time-slip novel is truly a testament to the power of hope, faith, and love and a compelling reminder that our actions of yesterday may very well alter our tomorrows. I highly recommend Yesterday's Tides to all who enjoy historical Christian fiction! I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author and publisher. There was no obligation for a positive review. These are my own thoughts.

Yesterday's Tides is a compelling, engaging, and absolutely lovely story! Roseanna M. White weaves together a dual-time novel set during both world wars, with complete mastery. It covers two wars, two continents, and two generations. Additionally, she has at least mentioned, characters from all of her English-set novels. What a treat! I loved all the different characters with just as different backgrounds. From the courts of England to the beaches of North Carolina. Each one with a profound and crucial impact on the story. I also really loved the setting of Ocracoke Island in North Carolina. Especially knowing it's a real place, I'd like to start planning a trip today! I just cannot say enough good things about every single aspect of this book...from beginning to end, this is an exquisite work of Christian Historical Romance! I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions expressed are my own.

Historical fiction is one of my favorite genres to read and when the story has a dual-time setting, it can’t get much better than that. Roseanna White has done a great job in writing Yesterday’s Tides. It is an amazingly captivating story of Intrigue, romance, wartime, and faith that spans across the two World Wars. The characters are vibrant, compassionate, and strong, and each with poignant backgrounds with which readers can easily relate. Interest is kept high with action and unexpected twists and reveals in the story. This multifaceted story kept me turning the pages, wondering how the characters were related and their stories would connect. Readers who enjoy historical fiction and romance with characters who will remain in one’s thoughts for a long time will not want to miss the riveting story in Yesterday’s Tides. I read a complimentary copy of the book and was not required to write a review. The opinions are my own.

What war separates takes time to bring back together. This book earns a 5* rating when one considers the intricate intertwining of the two timelines and the vast difference in character personalities spread throughout the storylines. The beautiful, emotional writing makes this book a gem among historical romances. Two wars, two generations, two worlds away…Glimpses of 1942 are carefully slipped into the “yesterday’s” (1914) storyline, pushing the reader toward trying to figure out how these timelines meet. Clues were laid out bit by bit, with perfect pacing, until the threads come together. If you are a reader of White’s previous books, some of her beloved characters are snuck in to round out the story and give a nod to her readers. Themes: God’s Providence, prayer, racial barriers and love in the midst of obstacles This book is suitable for teens and older with no inappropriate intimate scenes and no bad language. I received this book from the author/publisher free of charge, with no expectation of a positive review.

This cover is GORGEOUS, the author is talented, and the story tugs on the heart. And the first line pulled me in swiftly. If you love dual timelines, especially when the transitions between the two eras flow smoothly, such as in Yesterday’s Tides. The WWI and WWII settings are engaging and feel authentic, and the characters are unforgettable in this well-crafted story. Roseanna M. White is a talented storyteller. I’ve read several books by this author and have never been even the slightest bit disappointed. These characters! I grew attached to them, especially Evie and her peaceful nature, but so many people touched me. Through all their struggles, the light of courage, faith, and love shines through. The story includes secrets, romance, loss, history, and suspense. A rich story that brought me to tears as well as consoled my soul. I loved the inspiring foundations of faith, family, trust, and hope. First Line: The first light of sunrise turned the water of the Pamlico Sound to gold, the clouds to rose, and the dark to morning, promising Evie Farrow that today would be just like yesterday. I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions are 100% mine.

What an amazing dual timeline novel set between WWI and WWII in the Outer Banks of North Carolina! It captivated me from page one until the end and I had a hard time putting down my book for getting sleep or my work done. It was that good! The plot is so interesting, very historical and realistic, with many twists and turns that kept me guessing until the last page. The switching between eras flowed seamlessly. There’s a mystery about the SS officer hiding in the Island that intrigued me. Also, there’s a lot of family drama that kept me rooting for each of the character’s struggles, which were many. The characters are so endearing and lovable, and not only the main characters. I loved the whole crew of the Ocracoke Inn: Gran, Grandma See (loved how they communicated through sign language), and Grandma Ree were so endearing and such a loving family to Evie. Celeste’s story at the end was so touching. I fell in love with this tight knit group of fierce and loving women. And the main characters: Evie and Sterling, Louisa and Remington, I also fell in love with them. Loved their different personalities, particularly Evie’s loving nature since she was a child. Their story was so heart-wrenching at times, so romantic at others, so relatable that I felt their plights as if they were mine! I have to say that I shed a few tears. I felt their heartache, their loss, and also their joys. But the story was so full of hope, especially because the characters had God and trusted Him. I loved how Evie prayed so much for all her loved ones, and even for strangers, and how she linked her prayers to the pieces of sea glass she found at the shore. Each piece represented a person she prayed for. I’ve always loved sea glass, and love art myself, so I felt so related to Evie and her crafts of sea glass jewelry. Also, there was a message of hope and faith at how God is still the sovereign and loves us, in spite of our sins. How there’s always good in the world, amidst the bad and ugly. And while God respects our freedom, it’s humbling how He also uses mankind as instruments to making His will done on earth. This can be seen perfectly in this story. There’s a lot of intrigue, which made this book a page turner. And it keeps you guessing for a while as to how the family links from one era to the other. It’s exciting to be discovering tidbits here and there, like solving a puzzle. Also, there are a lot of details and descriptions that make it easy to imagine the whole scenery. The author has a beautiful writing style. And the romances between the two couple of main characters was so sweet and endearing! I also loved revisiting with loving characters from previous books by the author: from the Shadows Over England and The Codebreakers Series. Even Sheridan from The Secrets of the Isles Series! Brought good memories to my mind. All in all, a fantastic historical romance that will tug at all the strings of your heart! I vividly recommend it! I received a complimentary copy from the Publisher but wasn’t required to post a positive review. This is my honest and unbiased opinion.

Yesterday's Tides is another fabulous read by Roseanna M White. It gives me an additional reason why she has become one of my go to authors. It was great going back in time to both World Wars at the beautiful North Carolina’s Ocracoke Island and meeting Evie, Sterling, Remington, and Louisa. I believe their story is my favorite I had read by this author to date. I was fascinated from start to finish. I loved it. Yesterday's Tides will be getting a very well deserved five plus stars. I highly recommend it for readers who enjoy reading clean historical fiction and time slip novels that gives an element of faith. As always, I am eagerly awaiting for new releases from Roseanna M White in the future. I received a paperback copy of Yesterday's Tides from the publisher, but was not required to write a positive review. This review is one hundred percent my own honest opinion.

Yesterday’s Tides is Roseanna M. White’s best novel yet – and that’s saying something! She is a master craftsman of the surprise, the symbolic, the deep – and I love how she ties so many of these elements together in unexpected ways in this story. That kept happening with this one. I mean, unless you’re reading Nicholas Sparks, where someone always seems to die tragically, with most romance-type books the cool people get together, right? Yet Yesterday’s Tides doesn’t fit that pattern. It kept me on my toes all the way through the book, not only about who would end up together, but also about the big picture, the subplots, and so much more. I wasn’t confused, but I was actively trying to figure out what was going to happen – and it was good. White drew me in and totally engaged me with the story, the setting, and her characters. White’s notorious for examining an issue from every perspective in her books. I love the way that she helps readers wrestle with big ideas right along with her characters, and typically that occurs in beautiful, lyrical lines that jump off the page and beg to be highlighted. In Yesterday’s Tides, she handles it a bit differently. I feel that there are still big ideas that are being looked at carefully, but more than ever, the reader is doing this through the eyes of the characters. It’s much more subtle, and while I love that other style, I’m still finding myself pondering the issues long after turning the last page. Books that draw me in and take me away and then make me think before sending me back home are the best ones, I think. They provide an escape but also a lesson, some wisdom and beauty to add to your life. White excels at this, too, but that’s not even the most exciting thing about this particular story, because if you’ve read any of her others, there’s something else you need to know. White hid Easter eggs in Yesterday’s Tides for all of her other series/standalones! They’re fantastic! All of her story worlds collide in this one novel, in one way or another, and it happens naturally and wonderfully and made me want to sit up and clap. If you haven’t read the others, you won’t miss anything; but if you have, those mentions will add extra joy to your day. So put Yesterday’s Tides on your TBR list, or better yet, pre-order it now so you can start reading it on Tuesday, when it releases; and then when you’re done, let’s talk – because this is one book you won’t be ready to close for good. I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. All opinions are my own.

If a book was to be judged by the intensity of emotion it aroused in its reader, this book would, and should, receive the highest of accolades. Sometimes I had to pause in my reading just to reduce the level of angst the story created. It was difficult to not give in to the temptation to turn to the last couple of chapters to assure myself that everything worked out at the end and the characters got their well-deserved happily-ever-after. I would never steal from you the opportunity to feel all the feels that come with reading this book, so will say nothing further other than to give this book my highest recommendation. I am extremely grateful to have received a complimentary copy from Bethany House via NetGalley without obligation. All opinions expressed here are my own.

“The ripples from the Great War are still rocking their lives, and it seems yesterday’s tides may sweep them all into danger again today,” states the back cover of Roseanna M. White’s novel, Yesterday’s Tides. ~ What ~ This four-hundred-and-sixteen-page paperback targets those interested in a historical romance set mainly in the Outer Banks during two wars. With no profanity, topics of verbal abuse, pregnancy, injury, war, and death may not be appropriate for immature readers. As an advance reader copy, the book’s ending includes an author’s note, a dozen discussion questions, and a biography with advertisements. In this tale of the power of love that covers almost thirty years between the two world wars, twenty-seven-year-old Evie Farrow has forged on with her life on Ocracoke Island in North Carolina, always wondering what could have been. When a special agent washes ashore and she helps him search for a German hiding in the area, Evie must uncover her family’s secrets to move on from the past. ~ Why ~ I enjoy novels where I learn about history, especially if it is about World War II. The decoding, sign language, Coasties, German takeovers, and survival during rough times in history were interesting. I appreciated the details the author attended to the island, the norms of the day, and how love lasted or began anew with the characters. Having chapter titles of Yesterday and Today with dates kept the eras apart. ~ Why Not ~ Those who do not like stories of the ravages of war and how they affect many may pass on this book. Some may get bogged down with all the characters and how they relate to each other, especially when jumping between the wars or when, toward the end of the story, other characters’ pasts are examined. With a few religious tones of Catholic touches and prayers, there is little depth to a relationship with Jesus Christ. ~ Wish ~ Since I got lost often between so many characters (I read it over several days), I wish a list of characters divided by the two periods were at the beginning of the book. Adding a map of the island might be helpful. As the book has both Christian and Catholic beliefs, adding the true eternal plan of salvation would be encouraged. ~ Want ~ If you like a historical novel about the love and commitment between families and what they had to go through during war, this is engaging but confusing due to so many characters and subplots. I received a review copy of this book courtesy of Bethany House through Interviews & Reviews for my honest opinion.
A Masterfully Written Book Set in Two Historical Periods

Roseanna M. White has done it again! Her newest faith-based historical fiction novel, Yesterday's Tides, drew me in from the very start and kept me fully engaged to the last page. It is a masterfully written book told from four points of view and set in two time periods, 1914 (World War I) and 1942 (World War II). Both stories take place in Ocracoke Island in North Carolina’s coastal Outer Banks region. Although this sounds as if it might be confusing, I found both storylines easy to follow and filled with intriguing, well-developed characters. Those like me who have read some of White’s other books will get a special surge of joy when characters we have met previously pop into Yesterday’s Tides. However, it is not necessary to have read her other novels to fall in love with this book! Both storylines offer a perfect blend of history, suspense, and romance that really touched my heart. As in all of White’s stories, the level of historical research that was done is readily evident, and the characters rely on God to get them through the challenges they face. The timelines weave together in the end to create a beautiful picture of grace, redemption, and forgiveness. I received a complimentary copy of Yesterday’s Tides from the publisher. I recommend this book highly to people like me who enjoy reading clean, well-researched historical fiction. I was not required to write a positive review. All opinions expressed are mine alone.

Roseanna White's first split-time fiction did not disappoint. As you'd expect from this author, her writing flowed seamlessly from one timeline to the next, weaving both time periods together, bringing the story to a satisfying conclusion. I connected a bit more with the WWI timeline characters than the WWII characters, and I was confused in a few places, but those instances are minor when compared with the overall beauty of this story. I appreciate every mention of God and spiritual matters, as well as the inclusion of a deaf character and the use of ASL. We need more stories with characters like these who are portrayed with strength and dignity. I highly recommend this read for those who enjoy Christian Historical or Split-time fiction. *Special thanks to Netgalley and the author for an ARC of this book. All thoughts are my own.

“Are you going to ask? Or wait for answers to materialize in the background?” His lips quirked up. “I’m puzzling it all out. I’ll have you all sorted out in another day or two, Evie Farrow.” This whole novel was quite the fascinating puzzle to be worked out - trying to figure out characters and situations between Yesterday’s timeline and Today’s. This quote was so appropriate, as I nodded along and said “I’m with you, Sterling. Let’s puzzle this out together.” I think that was actually my favorite aspect of this story: the mystery and intrigue. We follow four main characters (two couples) - Evie and Sterling during WWII, and Rem and Louisa during WWI - both centered on the island of Ocracoke, and including other locations as well, from America to England to France. The title really captures the essence of living during such turbulent and uncertain times. The women of the story are tough and resilient; Evie with her caring nature and determination to look out for those around her, and Louisa with her stepping forward to do what was necessary when there was no one else to turn to. Yet it didn’t detract from their femininity - and I could see why their men loved them so much for that inspiring balance. I held my breath though many scenes, aching and hoping and wondering as the agony and horrors of war threatened nations, families, and tender loving hearts. I especially loved how this story brings in and connects characters from other stories! I recognized The Culper Ring, Codebreakers, and a very brief mention of The Secrets of the Isles. What fun!! I received this book from the publisher for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

What an amazing split time that spans from the Great War to WWII and ticks all the boxes to put it already in my favorite reads for this year. My heart loved the romance, family, and strong women of faith while my mind loved the history contained within the pages that until a week ago I knew nothing about. It’s surprising how close WWII was and we are not aware of. The intense research shows through without overwhelming the other aspects of the storyline. My heart broke for the lies and deception that separated Rem and Louisa and I felt the author handled the racial divide with delicate and well thought out insight into the time period. The story has many surprise elements and keeps you guessing at how each person ties into the next and I loved how it all came together in a satisfying ending although it had me shed several tears along the way. The author has crafted characters that immerse you into their lives and that you want to be apart of. The tides of yesterday sweep us into the future of our tomorrow’s with emotional turmoil that leaves us breathless. The beautiful cover draws us in while the tides sweep us away, pull us under, and deposit us back ashore with a story we won’t quickly forget. I received a complimentary copy from the author/publisher. The honest review and opinions are my own and were not required.

This is such a great read, one that once you start you want to race through it for answers, but another part of you wants to go slow and savor! This is a time split, beginning with the Great War, and then jumping to WWII, all beginning in Ocracoke Island, NC! These generational stories include the danger of being at War, there are U-Boats, and strangers on this remote island, but what a tale the author weaves to have you holding your breath, wanting to give some a shove for the evil they are doing, and wishing you could tell them the truth! Be sure to read the authors notes, you will have insight as to how this novel evolved! I so glad it was brought to life, and as I said I didn't want it to end! I received this book through Net Galley and the Publisher Bethany House, and was required to give a positive review.

"Because she'd always known that 'safety' was an illusion. And 'steady' too often meant stagnant. Neither was what brought life, with all its abundant, chaotic beauty." Absolutely stunning dual timeline historical fiction. Once again, Roseanna M White masterfully and beautifully combines history, intrigue, romance, and faith to weave an unforgettable tale of secrets, loss, grief, strength, and love. The setting of Ocracoke Island is lovely and the plot that takes us from the Outer Banks to England to France is riveting. Louisa and Rem from WWI stole my heart completely from the beginning. Their romance and steadfast love were delightful and heartbreaking at the same time. Evie and Sterling from WWII took their time to get to know each other and I truly enjoyed that journey. There were plenty of gasp-worthy surprises and plot twists to keep the book moving at a good pace. Revisiting Room 40 from The Codebreakers series was quite fun, as was cameo appearances by characters from the author's other books. It's a must read for all historical fiction lovers. I received the book from the publisher and was under no obligation to post a positive comment. All opinions are my own.
