Q: does this filter remove calcium and/or magneseum

submitted by dab - 11 days ago
  • A: Thank you for contacting ZeroWater. Though we do not have specific percentages, the fundamental premise of ion exchange is to reduce TDS, which is significantly comprised of calcium and sodium, for that reason, we would say removal is near 100%.

Q: 1 The model and size of the zerowater filter? 2 Does it have a # of cups capacity of: (40 advertised) - 12 for upper tank = 28 cups net? 3 What % of surface of interior of reservoir is NOT Glass?

submitted by Bernard - 12 days ago
  • A: We only have 1 standard size filter, it is the same filter for all ZeroWater containers. Model number ZR-017. The capacity split is 8 cups in the upper reservoir and 32 Cups below. We do not the percentage information you are searching for. Thank you,

Q: Can the carafe be put in the dishwasher?

submitted by TB - 5 months ago
  • A: We do not recommend washing the dispenser in the dishwasher. Dish soap can leave a residue which makes getting the desired 000 reading difficult to obtain. Clean the dispenser with hot water and dry thoroughly with a paper towel.

Bought the 40 cup for about 11 months ago I absolutely love it. I bought a bamboo wheeled platform to roll it back and forth on the counter makes it much more comfortable to move. I didn’t like the plastic spigot it leaked so I bought a stainless splgot it works great hope zero water would replace the plastic spigot with stainless steel I have encouraged family and friends to purchase zero water products

Love the idea of glass!

I love that's its a glass pitcher as opposed to plastic. So many issues with plastic. The only thing I am really disappointed in that the spigot is too high up on the container. There will always be at least 3 inches of water that won't ever be drank unless the container is tilted and it's so huge without a handle it's impossible to tilt it.
1 reply from ZeroWater Team team - 14 days ago
The glass container is meant to be filled continuously, thus making the water beneath the spigot irrelevant. Once the water tests above the 006ppm mark simply empty the entire container into your sink then rinse, dry, and replace the filter. Thank you for your feedback.

Fishy tasting water

I bought the glass dispenser summer 2024 but did not put it to use until fall 2024. By December we noticed a fishy smell and taste. We thoroughly cleaned the dispenser and put in a new filter. 7-10 days later fishy taste and smell. Cleaned again, put in a new filter and 5-7 days later disgusting fishy taste and smell. The water did not sit. We used it everyday. Very disappointed. Now I have a beautiful glass dispenser (because we wanted to get away from as much plastic as possible) on my counter that I can't use. Looking at another brand that has a glass dispenser.

In order to avoid a change in the taste or smell of the water it is important to test the water regularly as recommended and change the filter when the digital meter reads 006. If you are going through filters that quickly that would mean your tap water is likely in 400ppm range which is extremely high and would cause the filter to get over worked rather quickly.

Perfect countertop filter!

I have used this for just over a year now. We used to fill up five gallon bottles at the grocery store but this is much more convenient. The biggest change is the taste, our TDS was around 40-50 before, now it is obviously zero and the filter lasts us around 5 months each. I just wish they made an under sink model now.

Leaked endlessly, tried countless times to tighten it, adjust it nothing helped, I even went beyond what came with the pitcher, have had it for a year been sitting unused for 10 months I just haven't been back to this website since. Keep raising the price of your filters and you'll lose a lot of customers.
1 reply from ZeroWater Team team - 4 months ago
We apologize for the issue with your spigot, we have ordered a replacement spigot to be sent to you and a complimentary filter for the trouble. Thank you for your feedback and we appreciate your business.

Nice looking design but the spigot is chintzy silver colored plastic. 40 cups is a lot of water and it would be nice to have this design in a smaller size. I don’t like the filters, it leaves the water with a flat taste.

Great Dispenser - but buy a new spigot

Like a lot of the reviews have mentioned - the spigot leaks. It ended up leaking so bad over night that it ruined one of my cabinet doors below where it was sitting. It’s all warped from the water. BUT once replacing the spigot, it’s been perfect. It looks great and holds a ton of water. So just do yourself a favor and buy a new spigot if ya end up purchasing this. Not worth the hassle of leaks

Great idea, failed to execute

I was thrilled to find a filtration system with glass container. Assembled it upon receipt and water literally poured around the threading of the filter where it screws into the water trough. Returned it for a replacement, and the second did the exact same thing. Not ever sure why this is a product they sell, cannot possibly be quality tested. Hope they do figure out how to fit a filter some day--that's literally the product, after all. The glass canister is a stellar idea and much needed.
1 reply from ZeroWater Team team - 6 months ago
Thank you for contacting ZeroWater. Apologies for the issue with the filter. Please try removing the filter, drying off the threaded area of the filter with a paper towel, then reinstalling, giving the filter one more hard twist the the right to complete the seal.

Not quite...

We've been using this glass pitcher version of the Zero Water dispenser for about two months now. It's not quite living up to our expectations. The larger format is definitely more convenient for us. But... We wanted to reduce our exposure to plastics in hopes of moving to this more expensive glass dispenser, but alas, the filtered water is constantly sitting in the plastic Zero filter. Our fault for not realizing this beforehand. The second issue is the glass pitcher seats only loosely into the base (not well designed), so the glass pitcher can easily tilt and slide inside the base. The third issue is the dispensing valve is plastic and a bit flimsy. And we've had an issue with this valve leaking slightly, and emptied the pitcher, used more care in tightening the nut over the threads and gaskets. So far so good. But as much as the valve is opened and closed to dispense water, I'm concerned that the slow leak will return. And also with the glass pitcher able to tilt in the base, wonder how much the tilting influences re-positioning the valve, eventually leading to the slow leak? Hopefully Zero/Culligan will invest into a higher end version of this pitcher.

Very much like the glass container and the large 40 cup size. But the plastic spigot is flimsy. I doubt it will last very long.

Thank you for your feedback, some of our customers have actually preferred to replace the spigot with a stainless steel model. You can find dozens of options on Amazon that are very affordable. Just search for "5/8ths spigot for water dispenser"

I love this thing

Bought this about 2 years ago. I love that it's glass - no plastic chemical leaching into water! The 40 cup capacity is great -- I can use it for all cooking, including pasta, vegetables. And I'. experiencing an unexpected bonus. When I lived in New Jersey, in an area with extremely hard water, a filter would last only about 2 1/2 weeks. But now, in New York City, with water that has low TDS, my filters last soooo much longer. I use one every 4 months or so!!!! So if you are taken aback by cost of filters, check the tds in your water supply. The Zerowater kit comes with a tds measuring tool. You might be really pleasantly surprised. I know I am!

Good size, but leaks...

Good size, but the spigot is plastic, and the gasket does not seal well and allows for the water to leak out.
1 reply from ZeroWater Team team - 1 year ago
Thank you for contacting ZeroWater, make sure the rounded sides of the gaskets are facing into the glass and then you must find a bit of a "sweet spot" if you will with the tightness of the nut on the inside of the spigot. It cannot be too tight and obviously it cannot too loose. It really takes trial and error sometimes but if you find the perfect tightness it will not leak.

I believe the filters are good but this pitcher is VERY poorly designed. The valve simply is as low quality as is possible. The hole for the spigot is like 2 inches from the bottom so if you can only use like 80% of the water.
