Bought Earth Balance organic whipped vegan margarine for years and used it for everything. No more!! It’s hard as a rock and tastes terrible!! You had an excellent product and now it’s inedible. In order to submit a review you have to rate the product with one star being poor but this product doesn’t even rate a one star review…there should be negative stars.

I really don't get all the negative reviews, to me it has a very similar taste and consistency as butter... low saturated fat and 0 cholesterol!!! We have tried other vegetable spreads but this is by far the best. If you don't care about those things then by all means use butter, I would prefer butter as well but it is really bad for your heart health.

I just became vegan and used to use organic butter but today tried Earth Balance Organic Buttery Spread. I love it---to me, and I understand that most on this site do not agree, it had a truly buttery taste and I will be using it from now on. May I suggest that newcomers toast their favorite bread, spread on the Earth Balance and make their own decision? Hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

This tastes really bad. I can't eat it. I used the soy free a couple years ago, and that also tastes terrible now. No cookie cutter response necessary.

I have used the organic for several years and really liked it, but like the other reviews it is now not smooth, but hard and crumbly. I thought I'd try the olive oil spread. It has the smooth consistency, but has a gross fishy taste. Into the garbage, and never buying again.. You ruined a good thing. If it ain't broke, don't fix it!

I bought this product two days ago and the consistency is like a hard wax that I dug up with my butter knife. Even after my meal the texture was still like shave wax sitting in my container. I just want to know how it can be such a hard product that is difficult to spread.

Did the recipe change? I doesn’t spread anymore! And it tastes more bland than usual. I’ve been loyal to Earth Balance for a couple of decades. By loyal, I meant that I used no other buttery spread except Earth Balance. Unfortunately I will no longer use Earth Balance and I will be seeking an alternative.

Did the company finally listen to all the reviews and revert back to the original winning recipe? I have found the product with the original recipe listed and percentage of oil. I bought it, tried and well WELCOME BACK old friend!! It spread easily, it's softer and the taste is there. I wonder if the company listened to the reviews and suffered a lack of sales for this product. Time will tell.

I agree with so many of the reviews that something has changed. I have been using this spread for years and it is now a different consistency. It no longer spreads easily unless you leave it at room temperature which is not what the tub says (keep refrigerated). My store had been out of this for quite some time and when they finally got some in, I bought 6 tubs. Sure wish I had only bought one. I am currently looking for a different brand that tastes good and spreads easily.

This was the butter I’ve used for years . It has changed drastically . Very hard , impossible to spread. When I use to grill sandwiches it leaves a greasy slick to the fingertips while holding sandwich .I will say good bye to this company , It has changed for the worst

I am fully vegan due to many food, allergies and I’ve been using earth balance organic butter for over a decade. It’s the only butter I’ve used because everything else taste gross to me other than real butter, which I can’t have. When I first tried the new recipe, I thought maybe it had gone bad because the Flavor and texture were way different. I even threw it out and bought more I am on the search for a new butter because this one’s not doing it for me anymore, which is sad because I was a loyal customer for 10 Plus years.

I've been using your organic spread for several years and was delighted with the texture and taste. I'm sad to say that is not the case now. It is not spreadable at all and remains hard even when using it on toast hot from the toaster. It also appears that one of the healthy ingredients, palm fruit oil, has been changed to palm oil. I'm sad to say i now have to search for a different spread. . .customer lost!

I have no idea what happened to this organic buttery spread. It used to be my favorite. The last few I’ve bought are hard as bricks and taste like petroleum. What is going on here?? This product which I used to buy exclusively is now on my “never buy this again” list. If you change it back to something good, please make an announcement or something so I will know it’s safe to try again.

This was our favorite vegan butter spread. The taste is still good but it’s too hard to spread. We even buy the whipped container that use to be perfect for spreading. You’re losing business if you don’t fix the issue. We’re now buying the new Country Crock plant butter.

Sometime over the past year, the formula/ingredients of this so-called buttery spread were changed, so that now, it’s not spreadable at all. Instead, it’s hard as rock, and it flakes off when you try using a knife (or even a spoon) to take some out to put on your bread, bagel, etc. Plus, this product took forever to soften & melt on my bagel, even though it was freshly toasted and piping hot when I put the spread on it. I tried both the organic and regular versions of this Earth Balance buttery spread, and I had the same problems with both. I definitely wouldn’t recommend.
