Q: This is a comment. I was beyond frustrated when my daughter went to clean out the hamster cage with the new dawn and I got really sick. Autoimmune issues. We've used Dawn for all cleaning for 24 yrs. New scent is not working.

A: Just opened a new bottle today, didn’t know they changed the scent. While I didn’t use enough to make me sick or anything, the new scent is truly horrible so it’s time to change brands, I can’t remember a time I didn’t use Dawn so this is a true bummer. First Tide went to crap now Dawn, I guess everything is just going down hill from here.

I've been using Dawn for 13 years and before that my mom always used it. I won't buy it again unless they change the scent back. This new scent is awful and makes my dishes taste like soap residue. I'm not sure what drove the decision to change a perfectly good product but if they were trying to save money, good luck, because it seems like a lot of other people don't like the new scent either.

I was attracted to its cleaning power, and the mild scent . P&G you really screwed up A great product by making it smell like cheap perfume. You know men use dish soap too. I switched to the generic brand soap because it smells more like original dawn than dawn does now and it’s cheaper. It’s a light clean smell like dawn used to be. Now dawn just stinks. These automated corporate responses are just here to make it sound like they care, they really don’t. Show them we also don’t care by switching soap brands. These companies never show their customers loyalty, so why should we? The new formula stinks, doesn’t rinse well, and the scent lingers. I shouldn’t have to “rinse my dishes in a vinegar bath” to ensure perfumes are removed from my dishes. Dawn, do better.

You look at all the reviews and they were five star until they changed the scent and then everything has dropped to one star for most recent reviews. I am sure P&G thinks this always happens when you change a product. We have been using only Dawn for years and the smell is so bad that we are now switching. I really hope P&G wakes up and realizes that people loved the original before they lose customers to other brands.

Haven't bought Dawn since the Fragrance has changed. They ruined Dawn! The Original Scent is gone. Even the Apple Scent STINKS OF PERFUME! This stuff is horrible. We've bought 4 different types in the last week, and they are all disgusting. Why would you try to fix what's not broken? Now I have to find a new brand of dish detergent. I cannot stand the smell of this!

I don't know who's great idea it was to change the scent of original dawn but, eww, it is awful. This new scent immediately gave me a headache. I'm just so disappointed. We had been using platinum for a while and I was missing the clean scent of the original, much to my dispair, it has been ruined. Not only is the scent awful, it seems like it dries out my skin much more than the previous version. Please bring back the old formula!

To see the company denying people experiencing the same side affects (nausea, headaches, skin irritation) is atrocious. I bought the reformulated back in maybe October/November of last year, and everything people said is true. I felt sick when doing my dishes, my hands are STILL recovering. Even the strongest topical cortisteroid is having a hard time keeping the rashes at bay. The smell is so strong that it would STICK to my dishes even though I’d rinsed them for 3 minutes every time. Do yourself a favor, get anything else than this garbage.

To remove the scent from your dishes, soak the items in hot water with some distilled white vinegar added to it, or if they're dishwasher safe, pour some vinegar into the bottom of the dishwasher and directly into the dispenser, then run them through the machine. It may take a couple of cycles, but the smell will come out. Additionally, you can rewash your hands with mild hand soap to remove the scent. The cap broke during shipping and spilled all through my entire order. Lost half the container of soap. Tissues and toilet paper completely ruined. The items should have been packaged better.
