Q: What's the inside dimension (inside the glass dome)?

A: so not big enough for a cake
submitted bykara m - 3 years agoA: Kay. Standard cake pans (8-9" rounds) are 2" tall, thats the most common height for a homemade cake. Add frosting between, about 1/4" each layer & go from there. 3 layers w/flat top frosting 7"ish?

Q: what is the inner height of the glass dome trying to accomadate 1/2" high cake

A: Hi Cookie - The minimum internal diameter of the glass cloche should be no smaller than 7.65”. Due to manufacturing variability it could be as large as 8.22”. Most items will fall right in between. I would use the 7.65” since it is the smallest possible. Thank you for stopping by! - Nancy

The glass covered storage is too small to store anything. And the lid says do not use the pull on top to open it so basically there is no way of opening the dish.

I love Joanna Gaines designs, she can’t do wrong in my eyes. However Jo, this design fell flat for me. The visual design is beautiful, however the functionality is not there. The knob thing on the top is way too tiny. For small hands (kiddos) or adults there’s not enough knob to hold onto to. It could slip out of your hands and because it’s glass, I find unsafe. I’m not unhappy enough to return this item, I just need to be very careful with using.

Love this covered dish! I use it for cookies or homemade muffins. Looks so cute and I’m glad it’s not a pedestal cake plate — my kids aren’t good with things that easily tip. Love that the dome is glass instead of acrylic!
