Q: Is this unit heavy enough to be sturdy on carpet?

A: We have ours on carpet. We put the heaviest items on the bottom shelves (books) and decorative items on the higher shelves. This helps to balance it out. We have been very pleased with our shelves.

A: A vinyl can fit on the shelves when placed upright at a slight angle, not completely straight upright. It can also fit laying down. We love the shelving unit!

There was a stain flaw and also one of the shelves was spaced slightly incorrectly, so we had to force it with a mallet (if that wasn't going to work, we would have used a dremel to widen the hole). Finshed product had a size difference on L and R sides which made the shelf wobble, so we had to put something under the foot to make it stable. We made it work, and it looks good. Quality is what I would have expected at a lower price-point though.

For the price, the bookshelf is worth the money. I needed a narrow piece of furniture for a specific place and this worked perfectly. However, you may want to have a screw gun on hand because the screws are a bit difficult to screw into the piece. You need an Allen head attachment for the screw gun.

This open shelf works well for the space we have in our home office. There is a pretty obvious stain flaw but it is on the side we do not see. If it was in view it may have bothered me enough to return. This was easy to put together with two people.

Nice, slim bookcase for the space-challenged among us. Fairly easy to put together (a little challenging to hold the two sides together solo), looks nice and seems pretty solid overall, although one screw just kept turning, so there is one slightly weak link. A little bit overpriced, but it definitely looks nice. It took me 15 minutes, by myself, to put it together, doesn't require a lot of muscle. I was hoping to fit my yearbooks from highschool on them, which keep in mind are basically the size of textbooks, but was unable to fit them in it upright because the sections weren't tall enough. They stack fine on their side though so I made due!

Nice bookshelf. Didn't see any directions for assembly but we were able to figure it out. We had a tiny spot where we needed somethign like this and it fits beautifully. Not super high quality, but for under $100, not bad. No tools required to put it together - but you do need two people.

surprisingly nice piece for the price. very simple to put together, functional and nice looking. the only downside was I had a space that was literally 13.5" wide and when the pieces were added to cover the screw openings, it didn't fit so I had to leave those off.
