I have been using Naturium’s Azelaic Acid Topical for about one month now. I have a prescription strength 15% Azelaic Acid from my dermatologist. It is very potent and I don’t like to use it daily. I’ve been eyeing this one for a few years now and was looking for something a little gentler. I have been pleasantly surprised. Typically, when I begin using a new product, my skin can be quite reactive and become irritated. I have experienced zero irritation and have seen a reduction in both baseline redness. It has also helped keep congestion at bay. I haven’t used it long enough to see if it will brighten some acne scars; however, I am looking forward to see what long-term use will show. This is an instant repurchase for me and my first Naturium product. 10/10!

I just bought the product yesterday so I’m gonna have to wait few months too review the effects of the products itself. But I have to say : awful awful smell! I’m not even sure if I’m going to use it long enough to see result because of that. I love Naturium products, but this one is problematic because of the smell.

Great for textured skin & rosacea! First time using this line & azelaic acid. I have sensitive skin & have used nearly daily for 3 weeks with fantastic results clearing acne, reducing pores/texture, & calming my redness to cheeks. I use this in the morning & their retinol complex serum at night after cleansing. Then I apply naturiams barrier bounce to moisturize.

Actives are not always the answer

I’m 35 and have dealt with adrenal PCOS since I was 24. I was looking to add something to my routine to help with some of the light rosacea around my nose and cheeks, and the minimal melasma that I get under my eyes and across my nose. I was really excited to start this azaelic acid-based product because I believed it would be gentle enough to reduce the hormone-based hyperpigmentation without prompting any severe reactions. I don’t normally deal with crazy acne— but unfortunately, I had to stop using this topical after it prompted one of the worst full-face breakouts I’ve experienced all year. This was the only thing I changed in my routine. I used it for just over 3 full weeks, and stopped it 2 weeks ago. I’m still dealing with residual inflammation, pasty whiteheads, and blackheads. Not saying this product would not work for anyone else— this could actually be a great fit for someone with stronger skin. But I believe the combination of Vit C, niacinamide AND azaelic acid is just way too strong for someone with reactive skin like mine. Instead, I’ve decided to just foot the bill and purchase a Red Light Therapy LED face mask. I’ve been avoiding this purchase for months, but my esthetician suggested it a while back, and I’ve decided to pull from my savings, see how that helps. I’ve also accepted that using more than 1 or 2 gentle actives in my routine, is NOT the answer for me. I’m going back to my regular routine and sticking to it for life. This azaelic acid gave me the worst breakout I’ve ever had in my adult years with huge, painful, stubborn white heads that sat under the surface of the skin and refused to be popped or even pried out with pimple patches. The moment I stopped using it the breakout stopped. I was really looking forward to using this product, instead it has given me more dark spots from the breakout, unusual texture and painful bumps.

This serum wasn’t great for either my sensitive skin or sensitive eyes. It had a slight burn after application for about 10 minutes. After that calmed down my eyes started watering to the point of having to wash it off. There was a scent to the serum itself. It smelled fake floral, enough so that I double checked there was no fragrance in the product. If you have very sensitive skin or mildly sensitive eyes, pass on this one.

I switched from another well named brand to this one and am very pleased! I have repurchased twice since switching. The price point is fair, and the serum actually delivers. My hyperpigmentation is nearly gone after years of acne scarring and postpartum skin changes. Will continue to purchase!

I can only use this twice a week but that’s because I have a compromised skin barrier. Once it’s healed I’m confident I can use more often. This brand never misses. Their products are always top tier.

I came here to review this serum because I’ve repurchased it no less than 5 times. And then I was reading the reviews and I was like “what??? It smells?” I’ve never had that issue or noticed a smell. But I guess even if it did smell, I’d still use it so long as it didn’t make my face smell. It’s done wonders for my skin. It calms any redness I have going on and just overall keeps me from breaking out, so that’s why I love it.

I read the reviews that said it smelled bad and I thought I could handle it because most of the time a product scent goes away but this does not. I use it before bed and can smell it when I lay my head down on my pillow. It smells like dried spit. I feel like I can smell it even after I wash my face. It’s horrid. Also, the product image shows a dropper and it comes in a pump. I bought this a few years ago and it did not have the smell but it did pill under face lotion and I can say it doesn’t pill anymore but I don’t think I can keep using it.

My skin broke out with lots of little whiteheads after starting this product. It was around the time of my cycle and while that usually doesn’t cause me to break out, I wanted to give the product the benefit of the doubt so I continued to use it for about 2 weeks total. Once I discontinued it and treated with skin barrier recovery products, my issue resolved within a week and hasn’t returned. I’m not sure if it’s the relatively high percentage of azelaic acid or the inclusion of niacinamide in this product, but my skin is liking the cocokind serum MUCH more.

I don't notice any difference after using it for 3 months and man, this formula really smells. I have been using this for a few months but I don't notice any difference. To me it smells like bad saliva, my husband said it smells like vinegar. I literally have to hold my breath while applying it. Unfortunately my moisturizer is fragrance free so it doesn't mask this smell. That being said, a few other brands' azelaic acid products also smell, so it might be a common thing.
