The 3M Filtering Barrier Face Covering is a barrier face covering that can also help reduce airborne particulate exposure, when used as instructed. It can be used in crowded places, airplanes or everyday moments to help filter airborne particles. Per ASTM F3502-21 Standard for Barrier Face Coverings; Not a NIOSH approved respirator.

Comfortable and secure. On N95 status— a N95 respirator is reviewed by the nat’l institute of occupational safety and health and these were originally used for industrial work like mining, construction, or painting. These are not N95 certified by the NIOSH. However, in response to COVID, ASTM International (American Society for Testing and Materials) created a new standard specifically for this type of mask— for consumers as COVID protection (as opposed to being for industrial purposes). This standard has a different focus than the NIOSH: filtration efficiency, breathability, leakage, reusability, etc. Instead of a “respirator” this is a “barrier face cover”. (researched the CDC and ASTM guidelines on this!) TL;DR - for the purposes of COVID protection/prevention, this is on the same level as a N95. This is not a N95 respirator because it hasn’t been certified for industrial use (paint fumes, etc). If you’re a normal person trying to mask up for the grocery store, this will protect you the same as a KN95

3M. There’s something to be said for the name. Top notch and the best you can get. Rest assured that this is an excellent, excellent mask. I bought this mask for me and my two kids when we are traveling from the East Coast to the West Coast on a flight. Wanted to be protected because again, it’s high Covid time. This did the trick. Just make sure that you realize it’s a wire band at the nose piece can be custom fit with your fingers pressing and molding around your face nose piece.

Well made. Reasonably comfortable to wear for awhile. Easy to put on, with the option of either just hooking around the ears, or hooking together in the back of the head. My new favorite.

I'm an adult male 6'1" in height. Using a ruler, the distance from the bridge of my nose to the bottom of my chin is about 5 1/4 inches. I find that when I position the top of the mask where it seems to best fit the bridge of my nose, that the bottom of the mask doesn't reach around and under my chin enough for a close fit. And when I fit it around my chin, the top of the mask seems too low on my nose. If you have a smaller face than mine, these otherwise seem to be well made.

We really like this mask and I plan to order more. The wire over the nose is able to be molded nicely and stays put. I love the built-in clip for the straps! Over the ear face masks just don't work well with my ears, they never stay on. When I have worn an ear loop face mask I use a velcro strap through the ear loops that I can put around my neck. The built-in hook on this mask does the job of the extra strap! And it's easy to put on and off.

I thought these were NIOSH approved KN95’s - they aren’t. It’s my fault for not looking closer but I searched KN95 and these were one of the first to come up. Still better protection with a better seal than a surgical mask so they’ll do in a pinch!
