Q: How are you supposed to use the candle with the screw in it? No screwdriver I have fits and I stripped the screw. This seems like a wasteful practice.

A: I called the number at Target and was told there is no information with them to remove the screw :(
submitted byRK - 3 months agoA: I used a precision screwdriver and gently unscrewed the same. This got the screw out enough to remove the battery compartment lid. To get the screw to come completely off, I gently applied a pull holding the screw’s head using a plier and kept unscrewing it at the same time. This worked for me!

The remote will turn on any candles that have been switched to the position with the toggle switch on the bottom that allows them to respond to the remote and in range of the remote. If a candle is out of range when others are turned on, you'll need to get closer to that candle to turn it on with the remote. Please let us know if you have other questions.

I love these candles! I bought 4 packages and put the candles around my house. I set them for the 5 hour timer and they all automatically turn on every 19 hours and run for 5 hours and automatically turn off. Very ADHD friendly! The light is warm and helps during the dark months. One package had a tight screw and I took it to the tool lending library to get it out.

Nice looking candles if they work… bought 4 boxes, of those 2 boxes had 2 candles each that did not work … the “ test” candle is the only one that has a screw in the bottom , on 3 of the 4 boxes I bought, that screw was stripped so I could not open the battery compartment , making them useless. If you are ok with paying for 4 and only 2 work then they are nice , but I am not willing to pay for items that are poorly designed and do not work.

The candle attached to the "Try Me" button had a screw that would not come loose. No matter what we tried, we ended up stripping the screw and cracking the candle. Be gentle! We were not using a lot of force when the candle crakced.

I was only expecting to make use of 3 out of the 4 candles after reading the reviews about the “try me” wired candle… but I actually had success getting the battery pack out! It’s pretty stupid that they packaged it this way, but it IS possible if you’re careful and gentle. The trick is to find the correct size screwdriver and apply VERY light pressure, almost none. The screw came right out for me this way. Once you get the battery compartment open, just gently tug on the wire connected to the “try me” button and it pulls out so you can put AA batteries in. The candles look realistic, have a nice flicker and I love that they come with a timer and remote.
