Description

The Antennas Direct ClearStream 4MAX HDTV Antenna uses 4 patented loops to receive TV signals more than 70 miles away from broadcast towers. The MAX family of antennas offers the strongest performance in the most compact designs. With quick-connect parts, assembly only takes a few minutes. The included 20-in. mast has a pivoting base for installation on vertical or horizontal surfaces. It's ideal for suburban and rural areas where heavy foliage or roofing materials between your antenna and the TV towers can interfere with reception. Dedicated UHF and Hi-VHF multi-directional elements offer reliable reception from the front and back of the antenna for more TV channels even if your broadcast towers are spread out. If you had cable or satellite installed before, the coaxial cable needed to distribute signal throughout your home may already be installed – simply connect the ClearStream 4MAX to the existing coaxial cable and you’ve got free local TV in crystal-clear HD straight from the networks. Find your TV channels and towers on Antennas Direct's website or using the free Antenna Point app on android or iOS devices. Coaxial cable sold separately. The antenna comes with a lifetime manufacturer warranty.

    Impressive Performance

I also have a MOHU Leaf ant. and got the 4Max for further/weaker channels. My location is 12 mi. SW of Baltimore; 18 mi. NW of Annapolis; and 24 mi. NE of DC. I used https://www.rabbitears.info/searchmap.php. If you enter my 21045 Zip Code and 25-ft antenna hgt. you will get station/channel distance & signal strength. I'm located on a 20 degree slope, so the 25 ft. height is below the horizon facing Balto. and above facing DC. Pairing the 4Max with an ant. amplifier/5G filter, with inside window placement facing NW gave me ~153 of the GOOD signal strength channels/sub-channels. FAIR channels had chronic drop-outs and POOR channels had no pick-up. Considering all of the parameters from an RF electronics view, this is impressive. To make ant. placement and angle positioning quicker, I used a cheap Homeworx HW135STB tuner (other brands are available, but I read about this one for this specific use). It provides real-time signal strength of each channel, instead of waiting for a channel re-scan after each ant. re-position--a great time saver. The 4Max makes a very good indoor antenna; it's performance would be even better if roof-mounted. I've seen ants. advertised with+1k mi. ranges. This is false due to earth curvature; 70 mi. is the range limit of any ant. with or w/o amplifier; baring atmospheric anomalies..

    Excellent Over-the-Air, HD antenna!

I ordered the ClearStream 4MAX antenna because I'd read some good reviews about it. Additionally, it was about $40 cheaper than buying at the local electronics store. It came within a timely manner, as promised. It is lightweight and was easy to assemble in the house. I placed mine in a nice open space in the attic of my home and was able to point it in the direction of several TV antennas here in Northern Utah about, about 38 miles away. Bingo! The number of channels I received over the air, when from about 65 to over 100! All the HD channels came over in high quality, as expected. No muss, no fuss. I would highly recommend this antenna to anyone wanting to be satisfied with over-the-air stations only. I had read some negative reviews from others here but figure they must have been inept at assembly and installation. How tough can it be? But then, there are some folks that are pretty critical of everything. Thanks for the great product!

Great UHF antenna, not so great VHF performance

Overall, a good UHF antenna. High-vHF reception is marginal to poor. Most markets have most channels on the UHF band nowadays so may be fine for most people. Check what bands your local broadcast stations transmit on and if the channels you want to watch are on UHF, this is a great antenna. Pros: 1. Small profile - I have it installed in a tight space in the attic. Will be less obtrusive outdoors than other, bigger antennas. 2. Good UHF performance (peak gain of 11dBI, while not the best is very good to excellent for its size) 3. Easy to assemble - took all of 5 minutes. 4. Wide reception angle - if you have multiple transmitters with signals coming from different directions, this antenna will capture them. Not if they are 90 degrees apart like in my case but a reasonable angle in the forward and backward facing directions. 5. Good build quality. This should last a long time. Cons: 1. Poor hi-VHF performance (2.5 dBi peak gain will mean poor performance unless you are close to a high powered transmitter, also poor performance on rainy, windy days). If your market has high-VHF channels you want to watch, you might have to combine two antennas or consider a different one 2. For its price, it should include a good pre-amp. Antennas from anther excellent antenna company from Europe have their excellent pre-amp built into it. Antennas direct sells antennas with a separate pre-amp bundled with it, but the pre-amp is junk. Inexplicable why Antennas Direct would sell it.

I cut the cord more than 10 years ago. I’ve used a number on antennas in my attic due to the neighborhood restrictions. My search has ended, the Clearstream 4 Max is the best of the bunch. I live between Mobile, AL and New Orleans, LA and place 2 in my attic. I now receive 75 DTV channels over the air. The antenna is easy to assemble, it is light and easy to install

Antenna is easy to assemble. Fit is good. Stuck it in the attic without any real effort. Connected to RG-6 quad shield I already had up there and I get all the available local channels. Clearly and reliably.

I bought this to replace a large antenna on the roof that was damaged by a hurricane. I wasn't sure something this small could fill the bill but to my surprise it did so and installing it was a breeze. Some assembly was required but it was well documented and easy to do. My towers were located in the 30 to 45 mile range which is well within the range of this unit. I was able to pick up 51 stations all with fair to good reception. I did not mount this on the roof like the antenna it replaced I am getting to old for that stuff but the results are more than enough for me. I would definitely recommend this unit.

ClearStream 4MAX Ultra Long Range Outdoor TV Anten

The antenna was easy to put together, and pretty straightforward installing on an existing mast on my roof once I figured out what connectors to use. I tried orienting the antenna in two different directions based on the transmitter locations listed on the Antennasdirect.com website, and left it oriented such that I get 58 crystal clear channels, most from 70 miles away (I live in Northern California about 70 miles from Sacramento). Extremely pleased with the performance of this antenna. I have it mounted to a mast connected to one of my solar panel frames. The new ClearStream replaced a 12 year old Winegard Omnidirectional TV Antenna that just got old.

I was very disappointed with the performance of this antenna, it looked very promising at first except it didn’t pick up Kttc nbc which was about 30 miles away and was on vhf 10 yet it was really glitchy cutting in and out even though I thought this antenna would have no trouble picking it up. It unfortunately did not. I’d like to return this antenna asap

1 reply from Marketing team - 8 months ago
Hi Timothy! We apologize our ClearStream 4MAX Antenna is not working out for you. The ClearStream 4MAX is a multi-directional antenna, with a beam angle of 43 degrees. It receives TV signals from the front and the back of the antenna elements. There is some aiming involved as you want to point the antenna towards the largest cluster of towers to get the best experience. We do have a free app called Antenna Point you can download to your iOS or Android phone. Once you download, the app will identify your location. You will see the towers in the surrounding area, so you aim the antenna in the right direction to pick up the TV signals. If this does not help, before you return the antenna, please give our tech support team a call at 877-825-5572 and they will perform a FREE detailed signal analysis of your location, this will better assist them in pinpointing what the problem may be. We are available Monday-Friday to help! Thank you.

Simply blown away!!!! Bought the C4MVJ 3 years ago when considering chucking Directv. Tested it on a Samsung tv, got 5 channels. Not impressed. Considered returning it, but boxed it up and kept it, and kept Directv. Well, directv has crossed my red line, so I put the antenna back together and set it up right on the tv cabinet in the living room, BUT this time connected to an LG tv. Without any attempt at aiming, we are pulling in nearly 200 channels. Excellent reception, crystal clear picture quality, except on channels of lower broadcast resolution, such as the Red Green channel. Clarity is equal to directv. We’re getting Chinese, Korean, Canadian, even an Indian channel. US channels from New York to LosAngeles. Amusingly, my biggest concern right now is finding or compiling a list of all the available channels!! During some cursory internet reading, I noticed a couple comments that this antenna seemed to work best with LG TVs, and I do indeed concur. I’m not even going to attempt putting it in the attic or on a pole. And I’m probably going to swap out that 7 year old Samsung in the back room for a new LG, and buy another of these antennas to put on the window sill next to it. My wife is thrilled. She has her box from Italk BB that gets all her live Korean channels, and now she still has everything directv gave us, and so much more. Thank you Antennas Direct. You have solved a gnarly issue that’s plagued us for years!!!! My only wish is that all TVs worked with it as well as the LG brand. But, you can’t have it all, I guess. 10 stars!!!! 😀😀

Antenna arrived quickly after purchase. Easy to assemble and install in the attic. I’m extremely impressed with what I’m able to pull in (83 channels). I live near Knoxville, TN and I’m getting all the local channels (some I never got with my previous antenna) plus stations as far away as Kingsport/Johnson City, TN and (most impressively) Asheville, NC and Grundy, VA. I can definitely recommend this antenna! There are many great networks available over the air. I particularly love the ones showing TV programs from the 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s like MeTV, Rewind, Antenna TV, Get TV, Cozi, Heroes & Icons, and Catchy Comedy.

I'm in an apartment building on a middle floor, less than 15 miles from the towers, in a sunken corner of a hill. I have a wall of trees and houses directly in the path of most the towers and the others are 60 degrees in another direction, so I have to try and work with signal reflection from the houses. I bought this to cleanup my previous setup of two small indoor amplified antennas coupled together. On its own the antenna does a really good job picking up channels. The antenna alone gave me 6 DIGITAL channels out of a possible 15. I think that's pretty impressive for my line-of-sight challenges. On its own the antenna was a downgrade to my previous setup. I added a reflector kit and a Juice amp, and now I get 14 of the 15 channels out of the 15 channels within range.

    Long Range Antenna

A wind storm broke up my 35 year old big bulky aluminum antenna that was mounted on a pole 6 feet above my roof line. The old antenna was about 5 feet long but this little antenna in which I mounted on the same pole picks up more stations than the old antenna. I live in the country about 60 miles west of Chicago so this antenna does live up to it's claim of 70 miles. The only reason for one point less than perfect is that it was unable to pick up the dreaded CBS channel that my old antenna struggled with as well.

Get excellent reception on all locally available channels. Very happy with the performance. Assembly was easy and the antenna is well made.
