Description

The Antennas Direct® 8-Element Bowtie antenna is a high-performance UHF antenna array with a range of 70+ miles and unsurpassed gain of 17.4 dB. This multi-directional bowtie HDTV antenna features specially designed brackets which allow the 2 antenna panels to turn in different directions to target broadcast television towers, so you get more free TV channels even if your towers are spread out. Antennas Direct® has brought the Bowtie outdoor TV antenna into the 21st century with its patented design which allows for easy installation options that are off-limits to much larger antennas. It is ideal for rural and suburban installations challenged with pulling in signals through heavy foliage or roofing materials when TV towers are far away. The reflectors add forward gain and focus the antenna's power to protect the incoming TV signal from interference that causes pixelation or a complete loss of picture. It is compatible with our VHF kit (sold separately) for even more channels. If you had cable or satellite installed before, the coaxial cable needed to distribute signal throughout your home may already be installed - simply connect the DB8-e to the existing coaxial cable and you’ve got free local TV from the networks. Find your TV channels and towers on our website or using our free Antenna Point app on Android™ or iOS™ devices. Coaxial cable and mast sold separately. _

    Poor reception

I bought this antenna to replace an inexpensive yagi type antenna and am very disappointed. The yagi received 5 stations from about 51 mi away, the db8 gets 2 and they are both on the backside of the antenna about 21 mi away in the opposite direction. I get nothing on the front side of the antenna. The antenna is mounted in the same position as the yagi was, I have a rotor and a mast mounted preamp and no matter which way I aim it I get nothing except the 2 off the backside. If I aim the front at the town where the 2 stations are I get nothing, only off the rear of the antenna. I've been involved in amateur radio for over 30 yrs and this one has me confused.

Does not work at all. I received fewer channels (none, actually except the local OSU PBS stations) than I did with the Clearview 2 antenna. A big disappointment, especially at the price. Would not recommend this antenna.

Hi Miles, we are sorry to hear you're not receiving all the available channels for your area. Please give us a call. I bought this antenna, will admit instructions aren’t that clear - would recommend they get a new technical writer and rewrite these - luckily found a YouTube video and had it not together in 15minutes - I have it next to TV in basement and it’s has great picture, all DTV sub channels - next is to get it up on roof and distributed to house - I have 30 channels all clear, very happy with this antenna - always go with a high gain ant. With greater distance than you need. I am with in 30miles from most all antennas and this High Gain - 70+ mile antenna does great!

DB8e is a very sensitive highly directional tool

I live in a fringe reception area; transmitters are distant and terrain is a complicating factor. I had tried other antennas with mixed results. But the DB8e is definitely the best tool for the task that I've tried. It is very sensitive to picking up marginal signals and highly directional; just a little bump one way or the other and you can lock in on the best options. It also offers the capability of adjusting one panel at a slightly different angle than the other; in effect, almost like having two antennas. This high tech antenna, combined with the expertise and great customer service at Antennas Direct, may be the answer to you fringe reception area headaches!

    Happy Customer

This product solved my reception issues. I live in an area 1/2 way between San Francisco and San Jose. Each city has its own area for TV station broadcast towers--they are in different directions, around 25-35 miles from my home. Most major stations (ABC, NBC, CBS, etc.) have broadcast towers in both sites. Unfortunately, 2 stations (FOX and PBS) are each only in one of the two locations. That means I need antennas to be optimized for both directions if I want to get all channels. Originally I tried an omni-directional antenna. It worked OK much of the time, but seemed to cut out at times. Typically when my wife's favorite program was on. Bad news for me! By aiming each half of the the DB8e in a different direction, the problem was solved. Happy wife, happy home now. Assembly was easy for me -- under 30 minutes. But I am very careful. I check every part first and ensure I know what it is, where it goes and which side is the front/top. I loosely fit everything first, before tightening. I read the directions from start to finish plus watch YouTube video before starting assembly. If you just rush in, you'll still get this assembled properly, but it will take 2X as long. My other observation is that I used a website to find the exact direction of the TV towers and then I aimed the antennas with a compass app (Compass from melon soft) on my android cell phone. Aiming is pretty sensitive -- if you are off by 30 degrees (easy if you just aim by eye), don't expect good results. I got things right the first time, which saved so much frustration.

It seems to be a good antenna. You stated it was for a wooded area. That's why I ordered it. It does not pick up any more channels than I did with my old one. It is pointed in right direction. Some channels still loose signal.

Installed in the attic during construction, so it was a breeze to do. Broadcast antennas in Indianapolis are in opposite directions, so I was able to manipulate 1/2 the array to cover one set and theother 1/2 to pick up the remaining. After scanning, I picked up 72 stations. I only use 5-7 of them, but they are there if I want to use them.

I live in an area that is roughly 70 miles from two separate broadcast locations. I wasn't really all that optimistic about your product but decided to give it a chance. The DB8e seemed to be a good idea since the two broadcast locations are 280 to 300 degrees apart. I found all of the components I received to be of good quality and everything went together as described and fit! The product even came with directions that appear to have been written by someone who employs English as their first language. After I was satisfied in the structural integrity of my installation, I used the information from your website and the compass on my IPhone, to "point" one bank, of the antenna to 30 degrees and the other bank to 306 degrees. After running the scan on each of the 3 TVs that your product is "driving" I found that all 3 had quality reception on 38 channels. Much more than I anticipated and, at the very least, plenty to drop the "local stations" portion of my provider's bill. Definately gives me the upper hand in the battle to lower the cost in my television watching.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Very easy to put together and was able to install on the pre-existing Direct TV mount. Works extremely well despite the fact that our house is surrounded by 80' tall trees and a woods--in fact, the picture is sharper and better than what we had with cable TV. We are also able to get 50+ channels now, far more than we got with our cable plan. We're very pleased with this purchase and wish we'd done this years ago. Excellent product with excellent, knowledgeable, professional customer service reps (we called multiple times for advise). Would HIGHLY recommend! Thank you Antennas Direct!!!
