A: Hello. The hammer and all the parts from the B. toys Wooden Shape Sorter are non-toxic. The hammer head is not coated and the paint on the handle is water based. The parts are made this way, for the little hands and mouths that play with them. The set is 3rd party tested and passes all US, Canadian and the more stringent European testing standards. I purchased this toy as a gift. The holes on the wood block are too large. The two plastic cylinder pieces are not secure at all, and slide completely through; falling out. The remaining wooden shapes can simply be pushed through very easily; by a 1 year old. How embarrassing to gift a toy of this poor quality.

Be careful if your child still puts items in their mouth. My children was chewing on one of the pieces and the wood chipped into her mouth and the paint comes off easily when wet. Only recommend for older children.

Would not recommend this for younger kids. I have a 1 year old and a 3 year old. This toy has yet to be suitable for either one of them. The hammer is a danger to anything and everything. Maybe better for older kids

Would prefer if the pieces didn’t come out so they don’t get lost. Also not a huge fan of the plastic pegs - they’re super loud when hammered. Otherwise pretty much what you’d expect.
