Q: What size pot should this be planted in?
A: Hi there! We typically don't recommend transplanting, as our planters are really meant to be the first and only container for the plant. We cannot guarantee success for getting the plants out of the jar and transplanting elsewhere. However, if you really want to transplant your lavender out of the mason jar, you'll want to loosen the soil around the edges of the jar (ideally roots haven't started circling around the jar yet). Be cautious in trimming down / fitting the root ball out of the narrower jar opening. From this point you should follow typical transplanting guides for wherever you plan to place the plant - whether it's in a larger container or in the ground. For pot size, for seedlings, start with a pot that's slightly larger than the root ball, ensuring good drainage with a pot that's at least 2 inches larger than the current container and 1/3 the height of the lavender plant when it's in bloom. Please reach out to contact@backtotheroots.com with questions or concerns.

Q: Can the plant be transplanted outdoors once grown? I imagine the glass would need to be shattered to do so. What would be the best way to "break" the jar?
A: I wouldn't recommend breaking the jar, but here are some steps to take when transplanting lavender into your jar: - Remove the seedling from the plastic container - If necessary, gently shake/pick off the excess dirt so the seedling fits in your jar - Displace the soil within the jar to create a divet for the seedling to sit in - Carefully place the roots into the jar and cover with the dirt below the seedling.

Q: Could you use the seeds for something else
A: Hi Bella! Yes, you can definitely plant the Lavender Seeds in-ground or in another planter. If you are going to plant in another option we do recommend that you utilize the nutrient-rich organic soil that comes in the jar. Happy Gardening :)
