Back to the Roots Organic All-Purpose Potting Mix is a great soil for herbs, veggies, fruits, and flowers in pots, in the ground, or in a raised bed or container! This soil blend contains natural, organic, and nutritious fertilizer as well as moisture-retaining coconut coir and beneficial mycorrhizae for enhanced root growth. Our All-Purpose Potting Mix is peat-free, meaning that instead of imported peat, the base of our soils is made from upcycled plant matter and wood fines. Q: How can the reviews be so good when all my plants are doing poorly in this soil? I grow flowers and veggies every year with great success but not with this soil a complete failure.

A: Hi Mellow! Our soils are not vegan, we use poultry litter, crab meal, and feather meal in our soils. Our plant foods are vegan, though, from our all-purpose, our edibles, and our indoor plant food for houseplants.

I'm sorry to say that this potting mix is almost unusable. It's full of what seem to be bundles of felt that can't be broken up. It doesn't hold water at all. I've sieved it and added vermiculite to the little bit that isn't mat or chunks of wood. Cannot recommend.

It is good clean soil no large pieces or sticks like I find in other brands. It came in a nice large bag good for many of my garden projects. I enjoyed the smell of the soil too. It was fresh smelling. And it made me think of spring planting. I recommend

I bought this mix to refill my pots for spring. My first impression was that it seemed a little mulch-y, but figured it would be fine as I'm not growing anything too involved on my apartment balcony. I am severely disappointed by the drainage of this soil. We did, admittedly, get a pretty intense rainstorm a couple weeks ago, but no matter what I seem to do this mix is holding onto water like nothing I've ever seen. I am honestly shocked, and this is not my first year of container gardening! Maybe if we didn't get the downpour it'd be holding up better, but certainly not an ideal choice for my needs.

Worst potting soil I’ve used! I now have mushrooms growing in all my plants and something in the mix attracts small bugs. It’s horrible.

I wish I had read the reviews before buyig this soil. It is full of fungus gnats. My whole apartment is full of gnats now. I may just throw my whole plant away that I worked so hard to grow. I am very upset.

I have never seen so many Gnats! The first time i watered the gnats came out in the hundreds or thousands. Ive treated the soil twice and its still full.

I've used it to replant my indoor plants and have been battling mushrooms ever since. It's terrible. The mushrooms wouldn't stop. I threw the dirt and the entire bag out. Do not recommend!
