Back to the Roots Organic Indoor Potting Mix Specialty Blend is specially formulated for indoor potted plants. In addition to organic all-purpose plant food, this specialty blend contains perlite for aeration and drainage, coconut coir and yucca extract for moisture control, and dolomitic limestone to help adjust pH. Plus, it has one of nature's most powerful growing ingredients: root-boosting mycorrhizae. Since it's made without bark or compost, it's less prone to indoor gnats. Q: Is this a good potting soil for ZZ plants?

A: Hi Luna! Yes! Our Organic Indoor Potting Mix can work well for ZZ plants. It’s lightweight, contains perlite for drainage, and holds enough moisture to support healthy growth. Just make sure your pot has drainage holes and allow the top 2 inches of soil to dry out between waterings to avoid overwatering, since ZZ plants prefer drier conditions. You can also mix in extra perlite if you want even faster drainage.

Gnats everywhere from this potting mix. I had to spend an additional $45 bucks to get rid of the gnat infestation it caused. Bought Zevo bug traps, Terro mosquito bits to kill larvae, and hanging Raid bug strips. I never had an issue with Miracle Gro but the store was out of stock. If I could give a minus in rating it would be -5

Looks like I got sheds from a dog.
If I could give it 0 stars I would. It looks like a street dog was shaved and I was given its hair in a bag and sold as “organic potting soil”. HORRIBLE experience with this dirt and for the price I expected more. Do not recommend.

Swindled?
I have bought this soil before and recently bought two new bags…. I barely got any soil in the new bags! Less than half of the bag each! It doesn’t even make one full bag if you place them together. Mind you, I haven’t opened the bags because I am going to return them to Target. Also the bags looked beat up and the seal looks like they got resealed? Target… what is going on? I haven’t made these many returns before. Quality of everything is going down. Even the clothing. And they are more expensive!!

Plants dying in this soil
I have grown houseplants for years and this is by far the worst potting soil. It retains moisture for days- weeks even. I’ve added perlite and orchid bark mix to help and none of that has worked. My plants in this soil have declined significantly versus those in another soil. Do not recommend.

As others have said, awful potting mix
I would zero stars if I could. Every single plant I potted up using this soil has died. Lots of mushrooms grew as soon as I planted with this as well. But even plant varieties I’ve always had good luck with died shortly after being planted in this awful mix.
