Barbie Basics Collectible Doll, Model 03 with Red Curly Hair in Black Dress and Boots

The detail is amazing,packaging very nice.it’s good to see Mattel is continuing the Barbie line and progressing with the changes of the times. My granddaughter is of mixed races and seeing the look in her eyes, she looked at it with so much amazement!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My daughter loves this new Barbie. She can move her arms and legs and this lets her imagine come alive. She sits in the kitchen as Ken makes lunch. This is the best Barbie yet! She is beautiful and my daughter loves to do her hair and change her clothes. She loves this doll.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] First, it was a delight to see a doll with an authentic skin color for a lot of black people. It is a good representation of many of the little girls who play with Barbie’s. The face makeup fits this doll. The lips are more natural for black women. Wow! The hair was the most exciting feature that my was talked about the most. Full, curly and burgundy hair is a great fashion statement. The coordination of a black, silver earrings and high heel black boots were an added plus. They are fashionable and compliments the doll’s look. This is a birthday present for a 8 year old. Birthday is May 5th. Older sister gave some thoughts. She will enjoy the fact that the doll is jointed so she can pose the doll differently as she sets up different photo shoots. Changing the clothes will be an easy task. Currently, we are searching for more clothes. Disappointed that the joints stand out so much. The concept of making it easy to switch heads and bodies is great. The problem for me is finding another Barbie with same skin color and a different head or body. Not a deal breaker and we may not use this feature. Overall, this doll will be a delight for children to play and use their imagination. I think the versatility of the doll is the main selling point.

The LBD theme with the clothing not to many accessories. The doll head is so easy to remove now it insane.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Barbie Basics doll has a beautiful face and hair. I love the coloring and makeup, and she really stands out. The costuming leaves more to be desired. The dress is uninventive and the boots are very oddly designed, with open slits in the back. The costuming looks cheap and boring.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Barbie Basics Model number 3 doll is a solidly constructed doll. Her hair is a beautiful almost cranberry/cherry tone of gorgeously curly, doily hair, it’s tied back in a neat ponytail that shows off her silver toned earrings and her makeup nicely. My doll arrived with some small, but noteworthy defects, the top issue is a paint mark between her brows that will need to be removed somehow as it takes away from her sculpt and styling. Her earrings have some places where the silver toned paint has chipped, exposing the plastic beneath, however they are a beautiful dangle style and this issue doesn’t take away from the overall effect. Her skin tone is deep and gorgeously brown, but some casting/finishing marks on her show up more prominently in a darker skin toned doll. She’s the tall body style and her made to love joints move and pose beautifully even if there are marks and indentations on her limbs. Her dress and boots are cute, with nice sculpting on the shoes and a flirty hem on her basic black dress. Overall she is a stunning doll, and her new neck switch feature allows me to play and dress her on any of the bodies from the basics line. Overall, a wonderful addition to the Barbie line, though I wish her fave paint wasn’t slightly defective.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This doll is beautiful. The hair is well rooted so it can be styled without worry, and very soft. The face screening is pristine, not crooked and no gaps or missing spots. The earrings don't have the traditional anchors, so they can be changed at will with ease, but they are secure enough to stay in place without worry of being lost. The new neck peg makes changing the head a breeze, without losing any sort of articulation. The limbs move with ease, no sticking or strain. The dress is cute, and basic enough to go with pieces from other lines, and fits other Barbie body types as well. The boots are amazing, they came off and went on with ease, despite being knee high boots, a style which is usually a strain to use on other dolls. Overall, this is a gorgeous doll that I am happy to add to my collection.
