Baxter of California Hard Water Pomade 2 oz

I have been using this for several years and have always been pleased. I find that it works better for me when my hair is shorter.

Baxter hard water pomade was added recently, by me to my hairstyling regimen. My hair is longer than shoulder length. It’s pretty thick too. The hard water pomade provides strong hold and doesn’t look greasy. Great product. Thanks! JG

The hard water pomade has a great hold and shine. I like my hair a little long on top. I use this to comb to the side and keep it held there. The shine this gives is great and lasts several hours.

Originally I ordered HARD WATER POMADE , but unfortunately received hard cream pomade which , did not disappoint, to be very clear the Baxter team were very generous to let me keep both after the error. I Can fully testify that hard water pomade and hard cream pomade are up there in my top choices for hair product. I would definitely recommend to anyone reading this, believe me these are solid picks. Now another point I want to touch up on is that their customer service team was absolutely on point and polite so far haven’t came across of a lot of customer service teams like theirs, so if there is an issue please note that you will be taken care of. As far as the hard water pomade it works really well , only thing I do want to Comment is that since I have very thick hair and wavy it doesn’t hold as much as I would like but don’t get that mixed up because I still use it when my hair is shorter. Typically when I just get a haircut and want something that’s going to make my hair have a bit of shine. Overall solid pick.

This is by far my favorite hair styling product. It has a firm hold, but also doesn’t leave your hair feeling dry and tacky as other hair gels or pomade typically do. I’m so glad this product is back in stock!

like all the other reviews I have read about the new formula I completely agree that the product has changed for the worse. It dense and not smooth like the previous formula. Too bad. It was great while it lasted....

My husband has been using your Hard Water Pomade for years, but not anymore! After stocking up on the old version, he finally started using the new version of the product. The formula is nothing like the old one. It is oily, does not provide the same hold and is WAY too shiny. His hair looks wet and greasy - yuck! Not what either of us relied on in using your products for years. Very disappointing. Bring back the old formula.

I do like the application, very easy, no pulling. It does have a 'Gel' kind of shine and reminds me of Hanz De Fuko's Hybridized Wax. The hold is fairly relaxed, and there is not a whole lot of texture, which is what I wanted. I think another product would be better for me and my current hair style. It looks okay on just cleaned hair, it would probably not look very good with second day hair or people with more oily hair types. I'll keep trying to find new ways to use it though.

I have tried all the products out on the market. I’ve used American Crew, Old Spice, etc. and by far this is the best pomade for slick back look. And it does not damage my hair like the other products did. Highly recommended

I’ve been wanting to try this pomade for a while and I finally ordered a jar. HUGE disappointment. It has minimum hold, and it only weighs down the hair, making it look and feel greasy. Maybe this would be good for a person with very thick hair.

I have used this product for years and loved it. The new formula is a total waste of money.

Why Baxter why? Why downgrade your terrible products, because of cost cutting? Don't even bother to reply with the automated response "we only changed the color" because that's untrue. Besides the darker green color, new hardwater's consistency, strength and texture is drastically compromised. It is more like greasy hard oil now. It does NOT hold firm like original formula so you have to use tons of product, and it does not wash off easily because it is so oily. Read all the recent reviews, we all say it is terrible. Listen to your customers and revert to old formula.

Recently Baxter changed the formula of the Hard Water Pomade and it has wrecked a great product. They say it was only a color change (more green now than it's previous blue tone), but the consistency of the product has also changed making it near impossible to evenly distribute through your hair. The pomade is also much more difficult to clean off your hands than its previous version. I will be looking for a new product shortly - very disappointed.

I bought a new batch of this, and it looks and feels nothing like it used to. It felt like it was stale and clumpy. It no longer washes off your hands as easily, and if you don't spend a lot of time with it to even it out, it is hard to get an even application on your hair. But I have a question for Baxter--why would you downgrade this formula? I looked at the reviews and almost every review before was a 5* and now they're all 1*s. Doesn't that tell you to bring back the old formula?

I have been using hard water pomade for years. My barber said the formula had changed. And it has. I tried it today and within a couple hours into my work day my scalp became irritated and itchy. I had to rinse it immediately. I had small bumps all over my scalp. Switching to the hard cream and hope that it hasn't changed.

I have been buying this product for years and recently noticed a change in color. It wasn't just the change in color when I opened it, but also in the dryness and application - it holds the hair firmly but it feels like the product has been sitting on a shelf for a year. I returned one batch thinking that something was just off with the one I got, but the replacement is the exact same thing: dry, difficult to apply, and stickier. It's not the same and I will be returning it and looking for a new pomade supplier assuming that the product has changed for good.

The old hard water pomade is amazing. It was the single best product in the market. The new formulation is ugly and sticky. It's green and hard to wash off your hands. So disappointing to downgrade such an amazing product. You lost me as a customer.
