Description
The original Moka coffee pot: Moka Express is the original stovetop espresso maker, it provides the experience of the real Italian way of preparing a tasteful coffee, its unique shape and the inimitable gentleman with mustache date back to 1933, when Alfonso Bialetti invented it.
Made in Italy with an ergonomic handle and a patented safety valve which makes it easy to clean. Available in many sizes and suitable for gas, electric and induction (with the Bialetti induction adapter plate)
How to prepare the coffee: fill the boiler up to the safety valve, fill it up with ground coffee without pressing, close the Moka pot and place it on the stovetop, as soon as Moka Express starts to gurgle, turn the fire off and coffee will be ready

Q: 1st attempt out of the box and the handle started on fire. The base had water, the flame wasn't high enough to meet the edges. I'm saddened that this little pot died so tragically! I'll try again with another. Anyone else experience this?

A: Hi PeachyHans, I am sorry to hear about your first experience with the Moka. The handle is plastic and should not be exposed to high heat source. Please make sure you place the whole base on the stove, over a medium flame (heat source) and make sure the handle is pointed away for the flame, or to the side of the burner. please contact our customer service department with your experience. 800-421-6290
submitted byBradshaw Home - 5 years agoBrand expertA: I think the key is to place the base of the moka pot off the center of the burner rather than in the center of the burner. And also, place turn the handle to the outermost aspect of the burner top so it doesn't melt or get too hot.

Q: Can you use it on an electric stovetop, or does it have to be a flame-gas top?

A: I use mine on a gas stove - but I see no reason why it wouldn't work on an electric stove...my assumption is as long as water is brought to a boil - it will work.

A: Wash/rinse it by hand with hot or warm water. I recalled in another web site NOT to use dish detergent. Confirm my comment with the included instructions.

Q: Does this come with a silicone gasket? A smaller moka pot I bought has it but this version doesn't. I'm wondering if the one I bought is missing the piece or if it is designed differently.

Q: The instructions say, on the first use to make 3 cups of coffee and dump it out/don't drink it.. Seems like a waste of coffee. Does this really need to be done?

A: Yes, part or the moka is the “seasoning” of flavor, these 3 batches help start this. Also, as these items are shipped and moved before getting to you these 3 cup will help clean the insides. Please follow these steps. Hope this helps!

Q: Does it work to only make 1 or 2 espresso cups or do you have to fill it with water as shown in the video to get it to work properly?

We love our Moka pot! We bought this one 6 years ago now and it’s still holding up strong. We’ve had 3 other coffee makers (pour over, French press, etc) over this same time period that have since broken but not this Moka pot! We’ve been using it every day now for the last 2 years because it’s the most convenient way to make coffee in the morning. And it tastes great!

Bought this mid December 2024. After 3 months the silicone ring/gasket which is supposed to withstand 500 degress basically began to melt. The product has a two year warranty supposedly. Lets see how Bialetti handles the issue.

So many people do not do their research on how to use a Moka Pot. Comments saying “it’s dangerous” clearly didn’t follow the instructions. You do not boil the pot. It shouldn’t go any higher than medium heat but rather medium to low heat is best. If you boil this pot, you not only get sputtering than is dangerous but you burn the coffee. This will make you the best tasting strong coffee if you are patient, practice using it and test out your grind size when grinding fresh beans.

We bought this at the end of 2023 for $49.99. We only used it a handful of times and took great care of it when we did. We were sure to wipe up any access water after cleaning, and let it air dry 100% prior to assembling again. I tried to use it end of 2024 and found mold coated on the inside. Upsetting since we always went out of our way to care for it.

First of all, this makes an amazing cup of coffee! At first I tried to use an espresso grind and it didn’t work out. I’ve been using my regular Dunkin’ coffee ever since and it’s been amazing. I fill my mug halfway with steamed oat milk and top it off with this and a little brown sugar syrup. No more Starbucks for me! BUT the downside to this product is that when I first tried to use it, several pieces of metal/aluminum were found floating around in the water as I filled it up. It is so important to brew and dump 3-4 times before using it for the first time! Even though I haven’t found any more metal, I’m still concerned about this and I’m considering purchasing a different product. This should definitely be addressed by the manufacturer. I expected more from such a highly respected brand.

Ordered this as a Christmas gift and received a used item in a damaged box. It has fingerprints and the wrap around the coffee pot was removed. Very disappointing. I hate making returns during the holidays and the app doesn’t let me return via Drive-Up either.

I bought the 6 cup moka pot many years ago and discovered it hidden in my cupboard. It still brews coffee like magic. If you find the coffee too bitter, you must learn how to brew the right amount of coffee and figure out the best time to remove the pot after it starts to brew. NEVER brew it with high heat!!!! 🇮🇹

Wow. I purchased an automatic espresso maker and this one. Immediately returned the automatic one! It didn’t produce as good of a flavor and it was also so complicated to work and clean. This one is SO easy to use/clean and I’ve been making my own macchiatos at home that taste better than the $7 coffee shop ones! Just buy an inexpensive handheld milk frother and you’re on your way to being a home barista!

To this day, my moka pot is one of my favorite purchases. I love the traditional feel of it, and I love having my coffee brewed freshly off the stove. As a college student, I require a lot of caffine, and this moka pot lets you pull some strong coffee! I personally use the lavazza ground espresso (also from target). Get a moka pot especially if you like espresso! I have no complaints.

Omg. This makes delicious coffee. It is not dishwasher safe because you are only supposed to rinse and dry it. It is easy to use and easy to clean. Perfect for a single coffee, or you can buy a bigger moka pot that holds more. Throw the Keurig out! 💗

The coffee from this maker is amazing - flavorful, aromatic, and topped with naturl oils. It's quick and no filters needed. A few grounds in the pot and cleaning can be messy. Not ideal for ceramic top stoves. Consider 12 cup more coffee and peace of mind.
