Q: Can it be used with only water?

submitted by BJR - 4 years ago
  • A: Hi, thanks for the question. Our Original baking mix can not be used with only water. For best results, we recommend following the recipe on the box. Thanks.

submitted byPublished by General Mills - 4 years ago

  • A: I have used only water to make rolled out/ cookie cutter biscuits. They come out dense, which was desirable in my case. I never made pancakes w/ it.

    submitted by3chell - 6 months ago

Q: What ingredients are needed to make these? There is no picture of the directions.

submitted by Bisquit less - 7 months ago
  • A: Per the Betty Crocker website, you'll need bisquick, milk, vegetable oil, & egg to make pancakes or waffles. To make biscuits, omit the egg.

submitted byChocoholic - 5 months ago

Q: There's pictured of the top and bottom, front of the box but not the back where the recipe directions are. That's pretty useless! Are they're directions for muffins? What's needed?

submitted by Mum23 - 1 year ago
  • A: I had the same frustration. There's no recipe for muffins on the box, but the Betty Crocker website has several Bisquick muffin recipes.

submitted byChocoholic - 5 months ago

Q: Does this contain any partially hydrogenated oil?

submitted by Greeny - 2 years ago
  • A: General Mills has fully eliminated partially hydrogenated oils (PHOs) from our U.S. products.

Q: The box doesn't say "contains milk" yet the reviews say it now contains milk. Which is correct?

submitted by JessB - 4 years ago
  • A: In the fall of 2020, we started producing the 96oz Club Bisquick (16000-43059) product at an alternate production location to support increased product demand. This resulted in a change of allergens for the 96oz Club Bisquick. However, the 40oz box did not go through any changes in the potential allergens. Since ingredients can sometimes change, we recommend referring directly to the packaging for the most accurate information.

The taste of Dad is gone

I'm so sad you've changed Bisquick. It's unrecognizable. All the memories of Dad making pancakes every Saturday morning, and the coffee cakes I'd made my children along with Pancakes and waffles .. that taste is gone. Why would you do this? Bisquick is the only food I can say reminds me of home. At first I thought maybe I was getting sick as the flavor was so bad, but I soon realized it wasn't me it was the mix. I'm literally crying right now as Dad has passed and I'll never have that taste that was so him again. Ya know... .It's just bad. Even if I didn't know what it was suppose to taste like... it's bad. Biscuits were terrible. Bisquick has lost it's magic. Lost it's soul.

Couldn't figure out why my Bisquick recipes weren't coming out the same after all these years. Never occurred to me something like Bisquick would feel the need to change the recipe. Almost like deciding to make a new Coke formula.... Oh well, no more Bisquick for me.

I watched my Grandma and mother use Bisquick for as long as I can remember (I'm 76)...I've used it and my children and grandchildren use it... my 5 sisters and their families use it...but no more...I thought I was going crazy when my dumplings started turning out like dough balls...now I realize you've change the recipe...I'm throwing out my Bisquick and will make everything from scratch...really stupid idea...if it ain't broke why fix it??? The only reason I gave you a 1 star is because I had to rate you...I wanted to leave a zero...I figure you won't post this and don't bother with your standard response...change it back and I'll be a very grateful great-grandmother

I purchased a new box of Bisquick and noticed the recipe for pancakes and waffles had changed. I went on-line to find out why the change. The information explained that changes in recipes happen from time to time to make the resulting item better than before. In the case of waffles/pancakes, it was to make them lighter and fluffier. This morning I made waffles following the new recipe. After my husband had his first couple of bites he asked what I had done differently. Before I told him about the new recipe, I asked "Why?" He said because the waffle was "heavy and thick." Certainly not the response I expected! When I had my first couple of bites I had to totally agree with him. Definitely not the light, fluffy waffles we have been eating for so many years (we are in our 70s). No matter what your developers/tasters think they came up with as "new and better," in this house we will be going back to the old recipe!

Loyal user of bisquick for over 40 years myself and grew up eating it. The pancakes used to be the best. Now they are bland, dense. Dumplings don't rise and were more llike sticky glue texture. Had to "doctor up" the pancakes with extra baking powder and some sugar and salt. Still not even close to the same. Waffles don't get crisp or fluffy. Whatever you've done, you've completely ruined it. I will no longer buy bisquick, and I always had a box in my pantry. Used to make best pancakes ever. What a huge disappointment!

If I could give it zero stars, I would. Just made a batch of pancakes following the new recipe. I could tell as I was flipping them that they weren’t the same fluffy, light, pancakes of yore. They were heavier than they should have been. I found them to be very dense as well. I am very disappointed as I am a loyal consumer. I hope Betty Crocker will rethink this change and bring back the previous recipe. This new version should go the way of New Coke when it was released.

Ruined!!! The reformulation of the bisquick mix has turned this product into something I will no longer purchase. ( 4 generations of my family had been loyal bisquick buyers.) The pancakes are flat and bland, the waffles stick to the waffle iron ( also flat and not the crispy taste.) Such a shame to lose this once exceptional product ( the original formulation.)
