BLACK+DECKER 18" Oscillating Stand Fan with Remote Control Black: Adjustable Height, 3 Speeds, ETL Listed

Horrible does not push air out right a waste of money

Positives: 1) Highest setting pushes more air than Honeywell Quietset. 2) The base of the fan doesn't smell as bad as others but still smells a little. 3) Has buttons instead of Holmes twisting mechanism to turn on the fan. 4) Has clips for the grill instead of a plastic ring or screws. 5) Height adjustment is easy to use. Negatives: Needs better manufacturing and higher quality parts: 1) Like other fans the base uses what looks like solidified industrial waste. Mine was chipping small rocks so I had to brush it a bunch to make sure none of it would come off on carpet. 2) Another review complained they couldn't assemble it and that's because the metal rod for the stand needs to be pulled up. This is not obvious in the instructions. 3) The grill had manufacturing defects and had 1/8 inch gaps when trying to put it on with the other half. 4) This was my biggest issue, the fan smells like motor oil when running. Google search suggested that this was because the motor had too much oil in it and during operation it gets heated and sent out. I left my fan alone for a week hoping it would dry a little but the smell was still there. The fan really needs a better odorless motor so the room doesn't smell like motor oil after use. Overall, really good design, and good speeds, but the smell and defects make it unuseable. Hopefully black and decker will get a better manufacturer.

During assembly, the fan blades snapped, and I have been unable to find a replacement piece for the 18" fan. Utterly useless, and life lesson against purchasing products without parts.

Fan works and cools well, but gets hot and leaves a disgusting odor that smells like burning plastic. I returned this and got a replacement, and still have the same issue. Looks like all of the fans are like this.

For the simple fact that the most important part of a remote control fan, the remote, did not work upon arrival would be my reason alone to not recommend this to anyone. B&D said they would send me another remote but there has no even been a ticket confirmation since the phone call. The fan works as you would expect, height variation and tilting are all great. The picture above show 2 different fan models and different remotes but I am sure they are the same thing, just rather confusing. This review is simply based on simple things that I believe would have completely changed my experience with this purchase.

Had the fan for two months and on the hottest day of the year it stopped working. Amazing! what a piece of junk.

I use it in my shop and have found that it's both quiet and efficient! I like that it's on an adjustable stand and can easily be put away, when not in use. I highly recommend this fan!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This fan is awesome. Assembly is super easy following the enclosed directions. I had it together in about 5 minutes and it's surprisingly powerful. My favorite feature is definitely the remote though. I think we've all experienced a night where you climb in bed after an exhausting day, only to realize you're melting but would rather be beaten than get up to turn on the fan. The remote eliminates that. Keep it on your bedside table and you're good to go. Black and Decker really considered their consumers with this fan and I'd happily recommend it, it's awesome.

It's great! It has three speeds with a shut off timer. It also has a remote that makes it so easy use. I love that. It's perfect anywhere in the house and oscillates too. I will be getting myself another one just because I love it and keeps my home nice and cool. Thank you Black and Decker for the opportunity to try this product.

It has features that I’ve never seen before on a fan such as remote control and a timer. It’s the perfect fan for my space and provides a strong steady flow all day long. It also has a heavy base which prevents tipping which I love because I have children and pets. In all, I would recommend this product!

I love the 3 speed features and the 30min to 4 hour timer is a great help It also comes with a remote which is very convenient and it operates the speed and timer which I love! The low setting is great and feels more like a medium so I can put it on low and not have to worry about putting too much strain on the motor. I would highly recommend this fan!

We primarily use it in our den which is quite large with only one air vent so it gets stuffy in here. It has some good velocity and keeps the air circulating very nice in here. There are great features we like, such as a remote which controls power, direction and speed. Pros: Easy set up, good velocity, remote amenity. Cons: Neck adjustment is by phillips screw driver. Most have a knob. But not a major issue.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Easy to assemble although this model was made slightly different than the onstructions mention. My only suggestion to the company would be to add a screw or bottom clip to the fan grill. In my opinion its a powerful fan to be so small. You can feel the breeze atleast 12 feet away (could be farther). Great to use in a office space or small room.
